Gun control is ambiguous. We had gun control in the Wild Wild West. "Don't take your guns to town, Son." Some guns were checked at the sheriff's office, some were checked at the bar. This was also the time of the 6-gun peacekeeper(not peacemaker). There were long guns, medium guns and derringers-- concealed. Most everyone who could afford one probably had a personal weapon for whatever the aggression. Keeping and bearing arms has been an integral part of the body politic for many generations--since before Nov. 1620. It is also specifically guaranteed in the Constitution of the U.S. as amended. This is the same document which the President, Congress, Judges, and Military swear allegiance to uphold and defend.
Can the govt. prevent criminal types from buying on the Black Market? Gun running is still a lucrative business--some of our peacekeeping(?) guns cost millions a copy, not to expensive if one has enough crude oil.
I too have a Remington 870 pump shotgun with changeable barrels capable of shooting birdshot or sabot slugs, any of which could be lethal at close range. The sabot barrel is rifled and scoped for shooting from a treestand--at hogs and deer. We harvest wild meat annually. Sorry if someone has a problem with that--only a true vegetarian should complain--God put the animals for us to use. I find no particular sport in humanely dispatching animals for human consumption. Operators of slaughter houses do not care.
This weapon could also be used in riot control. I would never point the weapon loaded or unloaded at anyone, with the exceptions of protecting family, self or property; also military orders. We were programmed that way in the 50's and 60's. That kind of program seems to be getting unimportant in the last two generations. There are still more of them out there than is apparent. We probably will not register our guns. We have too much gun control already.
Peace,
Bro. James
