Here's an "on topic" song...who else remembers this . . .

Artist: David Frizzell
Song: I'm Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home

I came crawling home last night, like many nights before:
I finally made it to my feet as she opened up the door.
And she said, "You're not gonna do this anymore."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

She said: "Just bring your Friday paycheck, and I'll cash them all right here.
"And I'll keep on tap - for all your friends, their favorite kinds of beer.
"And for you, I'll always keep in stock, those soft aluminum cans.
"And when you're feeling macho, you can crush them like a man."

She said: "We'll rip out all the carpet, and put sawdust on the floor.
"Serve hard boiled eggs and pretzels, and I won't cook no more.
"There'll be Monday night football, on T.V. above the bar.
"And a pay phone in the hallway, when your friends can't find their car."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

She said: "You'll get friendly service, and for added atmosphere.
"I'll slip on something sexy, and I'll cut it clear to here.
"Then you can slap my bottom, every time you tell a joke.
"Just as long as you keep tipping, well, I'll laugh until you're broke."

She said: "Instead of family quarrels, we'll have a bar-room brawl,
"When the Ham's bear say's its closing time, you won't have far to crawl.
"And when you run out of money, you'll have me to thank.
"You can sleep it off next morning, when I'm putting it in the bank."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino, to decorate our home,
"So you can feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"When you and your friends get off from work, and have a powerful thirst.
"There won't be any reason, why you can't stop off here first."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

Ethanol alcohol does NOT freeze--period.
Actually, ethanol melts/freezes at -173*F, or -114*C. Granted most of us will never see such temperatures, for we could not survive in them, at all. But your statement is incorrect.

Is it okay if I soak it in wine??

Actually, It is not that I don't like the thread, but I get tired of seeing the same dozen posters, from all sides and POVS, posting the same arguments and statements repeated ad nausea (sic).

Here are several of the threads regarding alcohol in my 21 months on the BB, just in this one forum.

I'm going to post these, before the thread is closed. I'll edit to add some more if it is still open.

(On second thought, if these 18 threads are not enough, what difference would twice that many make?) Cancel the additional threads, idea.

As Police Lt. Phillip Columbo might have asked, "You see my point, here?"

The point I'm trying to make is that Brother John is not necessarily more spiritual than Brother Bill because he does not drink wine, because he thinks it is (or at least should be read that way) prohibited in Scripture. Nor is Sister Sue more spiritual because she believes wine is allowed, and she drinks a little wine, because she believes Jesus did, and therefore is more spiritual than Sister Sally who does not drink any. There is a clear Scriptural command that reads thus -
16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. (Col. 2:16-17 - NKJV)
I'm pretty sure I see a lot of judging in this matter going on, here, from all sides.

Cheers!

It is quite obvious that those who fail to see the truth are only here for an agenda... to get the thread shut down.

Well, if you don't like the truth, stay outta the thread. The truth is God demands abstinence.

That Scripture does not say they were drinking alcohol, so it is wrong for anyone to infer that they were... especially since the Word teaches against alcohol.

Don't you beleive in seperation?
If we are so bad, why are you yoked up with us...

It is my right to partake in this thread...
It is my duty... to preach God's word to the world... not what saith SFIC.

And No where in God's word does it say it is a sin to drink a little wine.

And just so the whole world knows.. I DO NOT DRINK.. but I will not judge something that the Bible is silent on.

That is adding to the Bible..

BTW, what does the Bible say about you calling your brothers and sisters fools...

FTR, my points are not directed at any side, per se, but all sides in this continuing debate/bickering that goes on and on and on and on and on and on and o...!

BTW, I do not not even know what beer tastes like, FTR. Never could even stand the smell! And my experience with wine is limited to one taste in my life. I didn't particularly like it! I do know what bourbon tastes like, as I have eaten "bourbon balls" candy.

But I suspect I've been in more different bars than anyone on the BB except for maybe Pete and Salty. Goes with being a cab driver, and hauling home those who are too much under the influence to drive.

Why am I here? To post the truth so others who read these posts are not swayed by the lies told by the alcohol drinking proponents and the lies by those who don't drink but also don't study enough to know the truth that God does not permit alcohol in the life of a Believer.

Seems pretty clear cut to me...
When you call us fools, look what Jesus says about you...

Matthew 5:22
(22)
... but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Now that seems more dangerous than taking a sip of wine....

YOu are showing us that you believe you are better than us...

That is the sin of Pride.

When you said that only you and your wife are the only 2 here standing for truth... you lied.

Well SFIC, you and Linda aren't infallible Baptist Popes. That was proven by the ethanol not freezing assertion. Wisdom? I think not!

hey, you guys are posting fast enough to fascinate the moderators enough to leave the place open. Way to go!

Standing -- I posted two passages which speak positively of wine and you ignored them both. I wonder why?

I also mentioned before that the Lord has also given us speech and language. Yet there are many warnings against the misuse of our tongues in both Old and New Testaments. More than warn against drunkenness, certainly.

You might want to be more careful with your words.

Oh, by the way, about the freezing thing. If extreme cold won't do it, adding pressure will, for that will force the atoms and molecules to move closer together, thus forming a solid. I believe helium is that way.

Oh, let me field this one SFIC...
When it speaks postively of Wine in the Bible.. it is really Grape Juice...

See that was simple, I learned something.
