I' will believe the Word oif God rather than your internet sources, Helen. The Word of God nowhere says beer was around in Bible times.

Holy cow, the logic break here is off the meter! Silence on a matter doesn't mean it didn't exist. SFIC, the more you talk, the more you step in it.standingfirminChrist said:I' will believe the Word oif God rather than your internet sources, Helen. JerryL said:Deu 32:32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
Deu 32:33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
That's the poison verses I think you are talking about. Do a word study on the word THEIR. It's talking about a certain people, the people of Gomorrah, not all wine.

Especially given any research will prove you wrong. It isn't just "Helen's" internet link.
Helen said:Yeah, I know, Jerry. One of the passages was even from Proverbs -- the same book he keeps quoting. "Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish." I guess Standing figures that can't really mean what it says or that poor old King Lemuel was encouraging people to sin! Actually, my Bible says his mother taught him the sayings in Proverbs 31. What a bad mom!
standingfirminChrist said:That stupid link you gave was about a man made god of the underworld... certainly not to be believed by any that calls themselves Christian.
Christ hath no communion with Belial.
Your sources are going to present lies since they come from a man made god.
Helen said:I quoted that to him on another wine thread months or years ago (time passes so fast when you're having fun!), Jerry. He does not like the word 'context.'
saturneptune said:Moderators, attention PLEASE!!!! This is beyond ridiculous. Please put this thread out of its misery.
Helen said:The Bible doesn't talk about the Grand Canyon, either, so it doesn't exist, either. Didn't you know?
Helen said:Good gravy! The link was an educational resource and spoke of the legend behind the making of beer by the Egyptians. The fact that they made beer is not even in dispute among scholars, Christian and otherwise!

No, she is using SFIC logic, which bears no relationship to any actual logic.standingfirminChrist said:More foolish statements, Helen?
standingfirminChrist said:Apparently you either do not know what context is or do not like it yourself. Reading the Scripture in context shows God disapproves of fermented beverage.
I'll drink to that.Magnetic Poles said:Brewing grain beverages is as old as agriculture.
But ancient document show that beer is thousands of years old.standingfirminChrist said:I' will believe the Word oif God rather than your internet sources, Helen. The Word of God nowhere says beer was around in Bible times.
