Hey - just remember, I don't drink! :D

AND I've never once told someone that they should OR that "just one wouldn't hurt". Remember, I work with college students. I tell them it's not worth starting.....

When one spreads falsehoods such as "The Bible does not condemn drinking alcohol in moderation," one is telling others it is ok to drink.

One is putting stumbling blocks in front of people like my brother or my wife's ex husband who both drank themselves to death just because someone lied to them and told them "God allows drinking in moderation." They tried moderation, and the alcohol deceived them and pulled their souls into the depths of hell in the end.

According to the Poll, there is a small bunch who feel drinking alcohol is a sin. It appears SFIC and Linda64 are the only one's standing up for this belief. That's interesting.

Apparently my wife and I are the only ones who are standing for the Truth in this matter.

clear command?

Give beer to those who are perishing,
wine to those who are in anguish;
let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
Proverbs 30:6-7

He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for man to cultivate --
bringing forth food from the earth:
wine that gladdens the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine,
and bread that sustains his heart.
Psalm 104:14-15

Yes, Standing Firm, there are a lot of warnings about wine. But the above verses show very clearly that it is from the Lord and not evil, and that is has a purpose for us.

I was just on the net looking up some stuff on plum jam and came across this, in response to what someone was asking about cream of tartar. I cracked up and thought of this thread:

Cream of tartar is obtained when tartaric acid is half neutralized with potassium hydroxide, transforming it into a salt. Grapes are the only significant natural source of tartaric acid, and cream of tartar is a obtained from sediment produced in the process of making wine.

I think Standing Firm, you had better give up a lot of other things besides wine if your stand is as strong as I think it is....

This almost sounds like a direct quote from Fred Phelps in regards to our troops :tear:

This obsession is troublesome, SFIC, and makes me wonder what demons you are struggling with. Ted Haggard railed against homosexuals, and look what his private hell was. Jimmy Swaggart railed against illicit sex, and was caught with a hooker. There is a thin line between obsessive fascination and indulgence.

"97 bottles of beer on the wall..."

"take one off, stick it in the freezer, you have no reason to worry at all (since it won't freeze)"

Disagreeing with clear command of Scripture concerning alcohol and disobeying the command to abstain is not childish... it is foolish. Yes, I said foolish.

I knew the "F-Bomb" would be dropped eventually.

Now this raises an interesting dilemma. Proverbs is a book of commandments, no? Pro. 26:4 - Answer not a fool according to his folly. Surely breaking this commandment is as bad as breaking the commandment to not look at alcohol...

I'm almost certain Pliny said something about how fermented wine can freeze under certain conditions...

Shhhhh. That would ruin SFIC's testimony that he put a beer in a freezer that froze ice cubes and the beer didn't freeze.

You are probably correct. Youtube has plenty of clips of corona's freezing in a matter of seconds.
