Oh, that's like the "God is my co-pilot" kind of a deal.Co-operating with the Lord is our part in our salvation.
But that's not biblical. You are forgetting that He is the Author and Finisher of our Faith.

No, I'm actually saying the same thing....just using more better words.
When Paul says that it is not him but Christ in him, he is not actually removing himself from the equation. But in a sense he is. That is what the Spurgeon statement conveyed. Spurgeon was actually giving an illustration in opposition to the idea that God control us against our will and supportive of the Holy Spirit working in our lives to change us.
That's my fault. It isn't a quote, just me trying to relate what he said. In context he was arguing the role of human responsibility and against the idea we are saved while we are unwilling.Sorry I do not read Spurgeons words to say what you are saying here. In fact I see what Spurgeon is saying just the opposite.
Okay, I take the obvious more general view of:God works within our wills to change us. But this is not cooperation and we have absolutely nothing to offer.
That's cool. It seems that others are being called to tell people their wills don't even matter so perhaps these two callings will balance each other out and we'll arrive at a biblical position when all is said and done.Okay, I take the obvious more general view of:
free-will co-operation ...VS... rebellious disobedience!
95% of North American "believers" today are choosing the latter.
And Jesus is calling folks like me ...
to try to shake them out of this disaster!
Jesus doesn't turn goats into sheep, nor does He employ goat herders to give it a whirl.Okay, I take the obvious more general view of:
