Cold split pea soup. It spent the night in the crock pot and is now cooling. Seemed like a great idea for a steaming hot day.

Salmon glazed with a mix of lime and honey, pan seared. Very tasty! Served with rice and salad.

Taco Salad. We use Doritos for it, always a hit with everyone.

Grilled Chicken Breasts, Baked Potatoes, Sweet Corn, and Cherry Pie for dessert.

Our whole family loves sweet corn in season. It's gotten so bad I buy it by the bushel now so we have enough. You'll see sweet corn in most of our meals while it is available.

It's not just ladies, I think it's in here because a lady started it and it's a segment that generally holds interest for more ladies than men.

Tonight is smothered pork chops, roasted garlic & parmesan potato wedges, and whatever veggie I pull out. Fresh cherries for dessert.

We have more basil than we know what to do with, so it's basil pizza night.

Fry basil leaves and serve as a crispy, yummy adornment to dishes or just eat them for a snack with some kind of dip. That's about the only way I like the taste of basil!

Tonight is chicken and dumplings. That poor chicken simmered so long that it shredded itself as I lifted it out of the pot!

We have one happy doggie. She was on stand-by when I was getting the meat ready. It's rare for me to drop stuff, then I have to give her permission to eat when I do, but after she was given permission she jumped on every bit that fell after.

Can't say I've ever fried basil by itself. How do you prepare it?

Just make sure the leaves are clean and dry and the oil is hot. If you use olive oil be careful as the smoking point is low. They fry up crisp in just a few seconds.
Use tzaziki (sp?) if you don't want them plain...just tap a bit on off a spoon. Easily made with plain unsweetened yogurt, add seasoning like pepper and garlic to the yogurt for flavor. There should be easy recipes online for it.
