    If you had read the scripture i put up you would know. The only reason i think the land would soon after turn from a land of milk and honey to a dried up parched land is because of Israels disobediance.

    Wherein he makes two assumptions:

    1. Wine isn't really wine, it's well, it's probably something else.

    2. People who think it's OK to have a drink now and again are immature.

    When does your liberty in the Lord become sin? Answer: When you use your liberty as a cloke of maliciousness toward someone else, 1 Peter 2:16. For bretheren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not your liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another, Gal 5:13. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbing block to them that are weak, 1 Cor 8:9. But when you sin so against the brethren, and wound their week conscience, ye sin against Christ, 1 Cor 8:12

    :thumbsup: Great link, thanks!

    And then with tongue planted firmly in cheek...because I'm admittedly too stupid or hard-headed to keep out of the mire;

    "He's old, what could he possibly know!!!" :BangHead:

    And;

    "Don'tcha' know that alcohol is the new and favored hipster-doofus-christian holy water? It'll heal all your harms, make your hurting heart perfectly happy, fix all your family problems and make you less of a sinner...it even kills vampires, zombies and werewolves aaaaaaaaand it'll clean the nasty dirty gunk that collects on almost any surface. And don't forget this one, it's really good for brain, kidney and liver tissue and only improves motor function, digestion and cognitive skills. See! No down side! No harm, no foul! So go out today, buy a tanker-truck full of it, it's the modern equivalent to D. B. Rielly's Premium Snake Oil. So drink up, be merry, be healthy, it's all good all the time." :saint:

    So do you believe it is a sin for a Christian today to drink a glass of wine at dinner?

    So if I am sitting in my room playing "A mighty Fortress" on my guitar with a fast strum that has emphasis on beats 2 & 4, and it reminds me that God will triumph over satan by his written and living Word, That's good? That's a relief, that it's all about what it reminds me of.

    btw, Do you still disagree with Deuteronomy about God encouraging his people to rejoice in "oxen, sheep, wine, & strong drink."? I notice you have dropped that part of your argument.

    From a transcript of a radio interview about the issue:

    I do not see here at all that Dr. Mohler says that alcohol is sinful but he holds a view that abstinence is the safest position. I will respect him on that.

    What am I rethinking? The enjoying of a glass of wine is not sinful. A Christian having a beer is not contradictory to his faith.

    However, when you are in ministry with an organization that does not allow you to partake, you do not do so. Additionally, in other cases, it might be best to not partake as well. But I do not believe it wrong for a believer to drink.

    I must say that I find the opposition to having an occasional glass of wine or beer amazing.

    Consider this: It is a known scientific fact that too much saturated fat leads to heart disease and many kinds of cancer. You should limit saturated fat to no more than 15% of your diet, and yet Americans hog down 42% saturated fat!

    I wonder if the people here opposed to having a glass of wine would be equally opposed to consumption of too much saturated fat since this does far more harm than a glass of wine or beer.

    Or while you're lecturing us on the impropriety and sinfulness of moderate drinking, are you wolfing down those bacon double cheeseburgers, pork chops, footlong hotdogs, and milkshakes?

    Allow me a momentary distraction from an otherwise good discussion.

    It is an observation I read years ago that we are in a different time now.

    Jews can eat pork
    Catholics can eat meat on Friday
    Baptists can drink in front of each other.

    You were doing just fine on wine and beer, until you brought up the double cheeseburgers. Now you've quit preachin' and gone to meddlin':laugh:

    Well how about this: eat your double bacon cheeseburgers, but only in moderation. :laugh:

    If the first sentence is meant to be a bit snippy, there's no need for it to be. It was more of a question asked than a point made.

    These verses mention drought and the use of wells. Granted I only skimmed over them, but I didn't see much to answer what I wondered. So...I asked.
