Only a wuss would press charges on a friend for agreeing to fight and losing.

I cannot IMAGINE a very good friend of mine and I getting into a scuffle and pressing charges on him for giving me a black eye.

I cannot imagine how anybody could call themselves a man and do such a thing.

That's funny. I was raised in a mixed home in Mississippi. I have a 22 year old sister who is mixed. This year alone I have ministered hundreds of blacks in our prison and helped several of them get their GED's.

When my black step father used to drive me to school on occasion, white boys in our neighborhood would yell "KKK!!" at us.

Its kinda funny being accused of being part of the clan.

No funnier than being suggested that Im part of the Mafia...when my Italian Grandfather chose to work in the coal mines rather than being a thug.

Oh great, Luke is using the "I know a lot of black people, some of them are friends" defense.

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word. And those with ears to hear will hear what the Spirit sayeth unto the churches.

But the fact that God gives men varying degrees of faith is indisputable. All brothers have faith enough to enter in, but not all have faith by which they can move mountains.

Use the word persuaded if you will. Some are not fully persuaded that they may eat meat that has been offered to idols or otherwise deemed unclean. Doubts persist, and no amount of preaching moves them.

You gave me one little quote from one report. I gave you two valid links, one of which was an extensive study. I could give you many more. There has been much research done on this topic. There is nothing good about tobacco of any kind. Researching the topic does make me an expert. When one reads enough on any one subject; studies enough about it they become "an expert" in that field. You refuse to face facts.

Again you want to justify your vices no matter what the cost.
At least Spurgeon had the good sense to give up pipe smoking when he realized how wrong it was.

I said nothing about society. I quoted to you a report which gave solid reasons why a person should give up smoking--all smoking (including pipes), and including medical reasons. How do you attribute that to society? You are a hypocrite. You expect me to accept your report based on medical science but you don't want to accept mine based on the same science.
Good. But there are many that are pushing for the legalization of Marijuana giving the very reason you give--moderation. They contend that it is far easier and safer to control marijuana intake than it is alcohol intake. So why is moderation right in alcohol but wrong in marijuana?

How and what am I defending?

    And not just friends- family.

    1. Mine was a SURGEON GENERALS REPORT.

    2. Nothing you cited contradicted mine. Nobody said moderate pipe smoking is a hazard. There is risk in everything but there is more risk in driving your car than smoking a pipe moderately.

    3. YOU USED THE WORD SOCIETY!!!!!!!

Okay, Aaron. You still don't have those verses teaching that no Christian should ever drink alcohol because there are weaker brothers somewhere out there who wrongly think it is sin.

This is not an admission of your mischaracterization of what I'm saying, I just choose not argue it at this point.

What I have shown is what the Scriptures actually say: weak in faith and doubting the cleanliness of all food, not ignorant of the argument or teaching thereof, just not able to receive it.

Alcoholics and gluttons don't even come into view. So it's not about being careful around those who are given to much wine.

There's more. If the thread isn't closed I'll move on with more verses.

Guess it depends if he chose to drink alcohol before the test or not.

Preaching IS what moves them from one level of weak faith based upon deficient knowledge to the next level of stronger faith via the impartation of knowledge.

It should have been closed after it became evident that it could not be proven biblically that drinking in moderation is sinful.

Those within this thread who attempted to prove it is sin cannot prove it via Scripture and used their own words instead in an attempt to do so, all the while thinking they're sola scriptura.

Well, guess what, they're not. They're not sola scriptura on this issue, nor are they such on many other Biblical truths they struggle with and fight against.
