Go to the source itself. If you don't believe me, go to the Catechism, the official one posted by the Vatican.
    http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P3G.HTM

Baptism is equivalent to the new birth, according to the Catholic Catechism, and upon baptism one enters the RCC without which there is no salvation.
That puts the RCC in the realm of a cult. Outside the RCC there is no salvation. That is their teaching.

I was a Catholic for 20 years, and never heard the gospel presented once.

Okay so let's pretend that Catholic doctrine means nothing and ignore it. Is this what you want?

What you do not seem to understand is Catholics are not monolithic. I know what they post as their theology is but not all of them hold to exactly everything the church teaches. You want to lump all Catholics under one banner and deem them all lost. This is not necessary. Some do believe in a scriptural understanding of salvation. Most often people are part of the Catholic church because if they were to leave it they would be ostracized by their family. Catholicism runs deep in their families. Before you judge someone not saved be sure and get to know them one by one as individuals. Otherwise you may be guilty of being a false witness against someone.

Now, that has nothing to do with what I posted. Your snarkiness to BB was uncalled for and is the exact opposite of what you wanted done to you in that other thread you started. Apologize to BB and find a better way to respond to his post you disagree with.

I never said all Catholics are going to Hell. But you have to admit that this post has painted Catholicism in a positive light. Since you will not read a book on the topic (my guess) I suggest you listen to some sermons on Catholicism by Mac.

I find it of interest this one defending apostate Catholicism takes great pains to malign those on here who preach the true Gospel. It's behavior to take note of for certain.

I have no idea how this fits into "Baptist Theology and Bible Study."

You can't meet saved Catholics that affirm Catholic doctrine. You can meet however saved people that are ignorant of Catholic doctrine just in Catholic Churches.

    Yes you did.

No, it paints some people who are Catholics in a positive light.

Son, you will never learn anything if you believe you already know everything. Your attempt here to smear all Catholics is sophomoric at best. You really need to set aside your ego. If you do you will find your relationships at church will improve, your family will improve, and your time on this forum will improve.

This is where your original statement ended.

    This is called back peddling.

Thought: I wonder how many people on this site think that it is impossible for Lutherans to be saved by Our Lord.

Did I say that I knew everything? If I believed I knew everything I would not be reading and recommending books would I? Of coarse I do not know everything!

Because Catholic doctrine is another gospel (Gal 1:8-9).

Catholics believe a person is justified by works and not by faith alone?

Faith + Works but works are a vital part of the equation in their theology.

If any one saith, that thy faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him by anathema" (From the Council of Trent, Canons on Justification, Canon 9).

If any one saith, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified; or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified; and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected; let him be anathema" (Canon 14).

Christianity is not defined by our denominations. If you claim to have been saved then you are wrong. The Bible says that we are all sinners and that is why we must ask God for forgiveness, in our daily prayers. Does the bible talk about the best denominations?
