I agree together we are a brotherhood and in times of war we ban together... But in times of peace?... In the immortal words of Al Sharpton... Why can't we all just get along?... Brother GlenBiggrin

My son-in-law just retired after 24 years in the Air Force. And my oldest grandson is angling for an appointment to the Air Force Academy. But I think he is more likely going to be a pastor. He is the most compassionate teen I have ever met. Must take after his grandma. :D

I agree with your point Glen in one way... in one way this should be in a thread marked "Complaint Department." People generally don't want to hear about the complaints of others... generally.

But the way we Americans mistreat our veterans, feigning appreciation "thank you for your service... let's do lunch..." is horrific and far too commonplace and far too accepted.

    Why stop there?

The way the Church has been darkened and desalinated and corralled away from the public square into our congregational meeting halls is horrific and far too commonplace and far too accepted.

God forbid we should complain about that...

Mine (my previous post) is but one small example of the glossed over. The mistreatment of the Vietnam vets is far worse far more glossed over and it's no wonder they don't join in as much with the recognition threads or church sermons that have the vets stand etc.

Sorry if I angered or offended any... I've said my piece.

Hmm, the RGJ (as of 2007 The Rifles) is the 60s amalgamation of about six British Army rifle and light infantry regiments. The PPCLI is its Canadian younger sister unit.

I thought the Marines were founded so the Navy would have someone to dance with.

I know how you feel. Stationed at Griffiss AFB 60-64 (Rome NY) saw no combat but did watch the Russians watching us on the BMEWS. No Agent Orange but OD-ed on caffeine several times.

Van - Do NOT feel guilty- you accepted the orders that the US Army gave you and you honorably served. I also was in Germany (in fact, I was PCS to Wildflecken - and had the balloon went up....)

When I was at Oakland Army Base - POE for Nam, there was a GI there with his golf clubs. He said there were some great golf clubs over there....go figure.

One other thin - Van - we did WIN the Cold War!

Served in the U.S. Navy from 1990 to 1998. Stationed on the USS Wasp LHD 1, USS John F Kennedy CV-67, USS George Washington CVN-73. NAS Mayport FL. and NAS Cecil Field which is in Jacksonville FL.
Most of my career in the Navy I was fixing CH-60 Seahawks, F/A 18 Hornets
I enjoyed my time serving. Been places only people could dream about going to.
