And who has determined what the most basic definition of baptism is, you?

If one is baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost a valid baptism has taken place.

Sorry, but you, or your interpretation of the Scriptures regarding baptism is not the determining factor.

Correct. Nor the fallible men of the RCC's interpretation. Scripture interprets the Scripture. We need only study the Scripture interpretations given by God's Apostles who got it directly from the Holy Spirit.

Doctrine, not getting wet, makes you a Baptist. Make your Baptist beliefs fully known to your Catholic priest and see what happens.

Why do we care about the denomination label? We should care about God's adoption of us.

In general, I agree. But Catholic vs. Protestant is not about denomination.

Not me, no. Words simply have meaning. If it were me then I'd include a more nuanced definition of baptism and a detailed definition of the ordinances (another doctrine of separation between Catholics and Baptists).

I recommend you learn what words mean before claiming them as labels (or at least before arguing the point).

Catholic v Baptist is about denomination in the way that John is bringing them up.

The Council of Trent has declared anyone who believes in salvation by grace to be "anathema".

Not "Baptist". That distinctive crosses many denominations.

Well...Baptist and Roman Catholic just have a vast spectrum of sects under their umbrella. In John Yurich case, it's debominational.

This a question for John Yurich. Do you contribute money equally to both churches?

I can't imagine the mental gymnastics it would take to worship at both a Catholic and a Baptist church. Problem is, what I want to say I can't. I would imagine that if either church's leadership knew what John is doing, they'd tell him to pick one or the other and stop being wishy-washy.

Back in the 60's the RCC would have forbidden him from attending a non-RCC church and sometimes even for a wedding.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is the grace plus, plus, plus, sacraments, plus you name it--just to to get to purgatory. How does one know when they have done enough to gain heaven.

An interesting read: the memoirs of Mother Theresa--from her later years.

The scripture was written so we may know we have eternal life. The catechism does not teach such things. It is an impossible task master--a yoke of bondage.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Roman Catholicism is a false religion. This is not Baptists and Methodists bickering over dunking vs pouring.

If he goes to both churches, he should be able to figure it out easily.

God is cognizant of how you feel about the doctrines of His Holy Church, you cannot fool Him.
