I would not say "always" but definitely in this case. I have a living will that will get me out if here as quick as legally possible.

She doesn't have one. All my meds are free (to me) anyway. And she has prescribed some interesting meds for me. D-3 for my MS. B-12. Fish Oil (Omega 3) for HDL. Etc.

"Could there be exceptions?? Of course, but once you deny parents control of their kids, you are getting into a messy area that big govt folks love."

Right, so now we accept that there are exceptions, one of these is where the best interests of the child trump the interests of the parents. This has been adjudged - consistently, both by the courts in England and Wales and also by the ECHR - to be the case here. The medical evidence supports this judgement.

If the EU refuses to allow others like the Vatican or doctors in the US treat this child the EU will look very bad. Folks these type of death panels are part of socialized medicine. It is evil.

Oh come on! There is no 'death panel' here and the term 'socialized medicine' - what does that even mean? And the EU has nothing to do with the case. The Pope has not made any offer to treat Charlie - there is no effective treatment anyway. Please can we stick to the facts, folks?

You are dealing with the alt-right media fear generation machine in full effect here.

Well, 'socialized medicine' has now applied to 'big government' (actually the High Court but let's not confuse ourselves with facts here) for a review of the decisions taken thus far based on potential new medical evidence:

What about executions then? Maybe not so black and white there.

Sure love to stick to facts, here ya go:

Pope's hospital offers to treat Charlie Gard for free

Charlie Gard’s mother says her dying infant is ‘not in pain and suffering’

    socialized medicine definition

When a panel of government employees make the decision to let someone live or die that is a death panel. When offers of legitimate medical personnel are ignored by government panels which then allow a human being to die without giving that person every available method until they do die then that is a death panel.

You can call it what you want and you can defend your underwater socialized healthcare system but it doesn't change facts.

Here's the thing about this thead. It has nothing to do with any sympathy for this child. It's just part of Mitch's never ending partisan point keeping. A chance rommanipilate emotions on healthcare. Transparent and obvious. This kid is dead and isn't going to survive. Unless we decide to just keep everybody dying in a hospital on life support for the rest of eternity which we obviously don't. Parents desperation is surely understandable but the insane politicical interference over practical medical advice isn't helpful.

Folks this condition has been around for a long time and I don't recall seeing any of your comments about people choosing life over death on those. This popped up on Breitbart so here we are. Global crisis all of a sudden.

Pretty angry post, right there. Pretty unbelievable you would write this off.

Thanx to that article, $2 million and counting, donated to this little boy's cause.

The UK Supreme Court is hardly a 'panel of government employees' , Lol! Still less the ECHR judges who, contrary to what you said in your earlier post, are nothing to do with the EU.

Do try to keep up with the facts...

You're fishing dude. The whole angry poster thing is a tried and true tactic around here though usually not something you would.

People throw money at things like that all the time. The media and our beloved President have both thrown their own opinions (without any working knowledge of what this condition is) and here we are. Imagine if that money could be utilized for someone with an actual solveable condition.

I'm not writing anything or anyone off. Unless we are prepared to start equating "pulling the plug" with abortion or murder then I'm not buying the outrage here especially regarding a practice that has been in place place long before the political circus decided to come to town.

Which is, of course, not the point. The hospital has, effectively, kidnapped the child and has gone to court to prevent the parents from removing the child from that hospital and seeking a second opinion on the child's prospects under alternative treatment.

Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome is not always immediately fatal.

Patients diagnosed in the first year of life with Myopathic Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome have lived into adolescence.

Patients diagnosed in the first year of life with Encephalomyopathic Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome have lived into adulthood.

There is an old saying, "Where there is life there is hope." Were that my child I would remove him from that hospital and seek treatment elsewhere using whatever means necessary to accomplish that goal.

So, are you saying you don't know who they work for, or are you denying the fact they are part of the government of the UK?
