    Maybe "unbiased", but also UNRELIABLE.

Do you know what "calamites" are? They're an extinct type of horsetail-like plants. Now, if a hail of calamite fossils fell upon jerusalem, HOW COME NOT A SINGLE EXAMPLE HAS BEEN FOUND???????????????????????????????????

There's NO reliable record of the AOD having occurred in the old temple. Such an event would NOT have been overlooked by the Jews.

Also, when was all green grass burned up? If you wanna make Titus the "beast", then WHO WAS HIS DEPUTY THE FALSE PROPHET? And Titus worshipped the Roman pantheon of gods/goddessses & was never known to have proclaimed himself God!

And when was all life in the seas killed? OK, let's make that more simple - When was all life in the Mediterranean Sea killed?

Remember, Jesus' prophecies MUST come to pass EXACTLY, TO THE LETTER of their writing in their original language!

Yes we have. It's not our fault you don't believe it.

I have not been deceived. I have been entertained by your amusing ramblings though.

Does everything in Revelation happen literally right to the letter?

Revelation contains a lot of symbolic language. That includes Revelation 8. So many have interpreted "earth"(greek - ge) in Revelation as meaning the world at large, when it is actually referring to a certain geographic area namely the "Land of Israel". Rome had a scorched earth policy when it invaded regions. Here is one example of this policy:

The extensive region that lies between the River Tigris and the mountains of Media...was in a very improved state of cultivation. Julian might expect, that a conqueror, who possessed the two forcible instruments of persuasion, steel and gold, would easily procure a plentiful subsistence from the fears or avarice of the natives. But, on the approach of the Romans, the rich and smiling prospect was instantly blasted. Wherever they moved...the cattle was driven away; the grass and ripe corn were consumed with fire; and, as soon as the flames had subsided which interrupted the march of Julian, he beheld the melancholy face of a smoking and naked desert. This desperate but effectual method of defence can only be executed by the enthusiasm of a people who prefer their independence to their property; or by the rigor of an arbitrary government, which consults the public safety without submitting to their inclinations the liberty of choice

No, I don't believe a pack of lies & imaginations.

then why don'tcha provide any PROOF your assertions are true?

Every symbolic thing in the Rev represents a real object, place, thing, or person(s), and events that will occur.

What an imagination! if prets aren't trying to reduce all Scriptures that are inconvenient for their doctrine to "figurative/symbolic/metaphorical" status, they're trying to limit such events as the great trib, mark of the beast, & the beast's empire to the Judea area & its immediate surroundings.

    THAT'S NOT WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS!

Well, preterists, you're letting your golden opportunity pass. So far, you've provided lotsa POOF, but no PROOF for your assertions.

YOU have the burden of proof for your doctrines & assertions. We don't hafta prove a negative! In old Israel, under God's law, an accuser had to PROVE the accused had broken that law, and the word of one witness was not enough. And there were severe penalties for bearing FALSE witness!

So, you MUST PROVE your stuff to have any credibility far as preterism goes, and all you preterists have failed miserably so far!

There are clues within the symbolism of Revelation that are actually allusions to things and events from the Old Testament. The 1st century readers, especially the Jewish Christians shortly before the initial invasion of Israel by Rome in 66AD, would have recognized the symbols immediately. Generally speaking 1st century Christians knew the Old Testament much better than us.

So the 1st paragraph of Revelation 17 describes the punishment of the great prostitute (harlot). The 1st century Christians would have connected that with Old Testament verses such as Isaiah 1:21: How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. Although Isaiah was referring to Jerusalem at his time the harlot in Rev. 17 was an allusion to the city of Jerusalem to the initial readers of the Book of Revelation(the seven churches in Asia Minor). They would have recognized that immediately.

The name written on the harlot's forehead states: "Babylon the great, the Mother of Prostitutes, and of the Abominations of the Earth"(Land). The Jewish high priests wore a golden plate on their foreheads which was engraved with the words: "Holy to the Lord". See Exodus 28: 36-38 for a description of this plate which was fastened to Aaron's forehead. The readers of Revelation in the 1st century(pre-70AD) would have realized that the priesthood (at that time) was corrupt. As a matter of fact Rome had been selecting the high priesthood and dictating the tenure of each high priest. I will get into the identity of the 7 heads and 10 horns of this beast later.

If you look at Revelation 17 verse 18 it identifies the harlot as " the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.” Remember the word "earth" is the Greek word "ge" which is more accurately translated as "land" in Revelation.

Proceeding to Revelation chapter 18 it describes the fall of Babylon(Jerusalem). When did that happen? 70 AD perhaps? Rev. 18 verses 11,12,&13 describes the merchants mourning over the destruction of Babylon because no one buys their merchandise anymore. Look at 2nd Chronicles 2:11-14. The king of Tyre mentions the merchandise of the Temple during a discussion of the building of the first Temple. 8 out of 10 items used in the building of the 1st Temple are included in the merchandise of Rev. 18. Look at Ezekiel 27. It describes the merchants lamenting over the fall of the pagan city Tyre. The merchandise is different but Saint John includes allusions to the lamenting of Tyre for a reason. Mainly the commerce of Tyre. Rev 18's allusion to the commerce of Tyre thus contains an allusion to the commerce of the Temple during the 1st century. The commercialization of the Temple was one of the things that caused Jesus to become angry. John 2:13-16 "make not my Father's house an house of merchandise". Robycop I don't know how much more evidence you need but I do have more.

    All over Scripture.

Apparently, "I" understand Scripture far-better than "YOU" do. I believe it as written, free of MAN-MADE NEW MEANINGS.

Apparently, God's word as HE presents it isn't good enough for you. You try to add new meanings to it as generated by preterist hacks & charlatans such as Alcazar, etc.

History & reality prove preterism false; that's all there is to it! You CANNOT prove a thing you say in favor of preterism.

    Wishful pret thinking.

The events of 66-70 were the culmination of the DAYS OF VENGEANCE against the Jews, as they were held responsible for the murders of ALL righteous people up til that time. Nothing to do with the eschatological events, which are yet to occur.

    MMRRPP ! WRONG !

The city was ROME, ITALY! That city was the one which ruled over the various nabobs in the Roman empire.

The name written on the harlot's forehead states: "Babylon the great, the Mother of Prostitutes, and of the Abominations of the Earth"(Land). Again, all wrong! Again, the "harlot" is ROME. remember, Rome has the cancer of the Vatican at its heart.

Jerusalem was NOT destroyed in an hour. It was NOT a great seaport in those days. jerusalem was NOT destroyed, never to rise again, in the manner of the large stone the angel cast into the sea.

I once believed this as well during my dispensational days. These are allusions. The Old Testament is filled with "harlot" symbolism relating to Israel when it did extreme evil and did not repent. That is why the Northern Kingdom of Israel was destroyed during Isaiah's days and why the 1st temple was destroyed by the Babylonians. The harlot that sits on many waters was literally true of historic Babylon that was located by the Euphrates River. Revelation 17:15 explains that the waters that Mystery Babylon(Jerusalem) sits by are not literal rivers but represent peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues. This is talking about the diversity of nationalities that congregated at the Temple. Pilgrims would come from all over the Roman empire for the festivals of Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. Acts 2 talks about devout Jewish men from every nation under heaven dwelling in Jerusalem.

Look at revelation 18:24: And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth(land).

Compare that to Luke 11: 47-51:

47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
    50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
