If that is the opinion you get from comparing the two, you are free to it.

I have heard this claim made, but as for my part have no knowledge that they did this. I suppose there is a point at which only a few minor changes could not be copyrighted as a different Bible, but there are quite enough differences in the KJV and NKJV that would not have been a problem.

I really like where the Nkjv has the Mu and CT renderings also in the margins, so one can see the various ways could translate!

Would you see the Geneva as being as accurate, or even more so, than the kjv then?

Wilbur Pickering asserted: “Until such a time as a good translation of the Majority Text becomes available, the best current English version of the NT is the NKJV—an excellent translation of a good Greek text” (Identity of NT Text II, p. 183).

The KJV is still copyrighted in the United Kingdom. Only one publishing company has the rights to print the KJV Bible.

In my opinion, the 1560 Geneva Bible is more accurate than the KJV in a good number of places, but the KJV is also more accurate than the Geneva Bible in a good number of places. Likely, the KJV is a little better overall.

In the places where the Geneva Bible is more accurate than the KJV, the NKJV is also in agreement with the Geneva Bible's renderings. In the places where the KJV improved on the Geneva Bible or is more accurate than the Geneva Bible, the NKJV is usually in agreement with the KJV. Those two observation based on many pages of examples would indicate that the NKJV is likely more accurate overall than the KJV.

clarification: the rights to print the KJV Bible there.

    https://www.cambridge.org/about-us/who-we-are/queens-printers-patent

"In the United Kingdom, rights in the Authorized Version of the Bible (AV), also known as the King James Bible or King James Version (KJV), are Crown copyright."

"Cambridge University Press is responsible for administering the Crown's rights in the KJV in England, Wales and Northern Ireland."

"The Scottish Bible Board has similar delegated authority...in Scotland."

You see all 3 of them in the same textual stream, so should not be rejected by KJVO, correct?

The NKJV is my preferred version, however; I will consult the KJV if I have a question as to a reading.

NKJV for sure - it's in OUR English, & corrects many of the KJV's goofs, such as "Easter" in Acts 12:4, correctly translating 'pascha' as PASSOVER.

The notations are NU for the CT and M for the Majority text where it differs from the TR. NU = Nestle-Aland and United Bible Society Greek text.

Well, actually, in the UK, there are FOUR that may legally print/sell KJVs - The Universities of Oxford & Cambridge, the Ayers & Spottiswoode Co, & Harper Collins. (Owned by Ruppert Murdoch)

Not everyone agrees Easter was a KJV goof. Tyndale first translated that Greek to English as Easter. Later Tyndale invented the word "Passover" translating the Hebrew to English. The goofs and deliberate treanslating both Hebrew and Greek as Easter followed.

There are several reasons it's a goof -
    1. Easter didn't exist when Luke wrote "Acts".
    2. The AV makers clearly knew Easter from passover.
    3. The ONE-TIME usage of Easter for pascha stands out.
    4. Had Easter then existed, neither Herod nor the Jews would've observed it.
