Folks, note this Calvinist is changing the subject to find fault with me. This is all they have, run from the scriptures cited and never acknowledge their position is untenable.
Christ's death heals those God places into Christ and nobody else. Christ died for all humankind, to provide the means of salvation (propitiation) but only those placed into Christ by grace through faith are saved.
1 Peter 2:24 refers to born anew believers who have been healed when God put them into Christ spiritually.
1Peter 2:9
But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR
God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him
who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD;
you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now
you have RECEIVED MERCY.
This letter's audience included both Jews and Gentiles, thus the claim it was written exclusively to Gentiles, is simply a false claim. The extensive use of OT imagery supports the idea that a significant portion of the intended audience was Jewish. Obviously both Jews and Gentiles comprised the audience which had been "called out of darkness into His marvelous light."
Therefore those called into His marvelous light were once not a people chosen for God's own possession, therefore they could not have been chosen individually before creation, before they lived without receiving mercy. It is a lock
