    Yes, this is the pattern right here;
You added words to the passage in post#14 to support your doctrine. You stated not being open to God’s word is the cause of not being of His sheep. Jesus did not say that.
Those who object add words to deny what is actually written

Jesus said “you do not believe because you are not of my sheep”. That is simply stated. Don’t add words, just believe what Jesus said.

You are unable to embrace the truth of that statement because it undermines your preferred doctrine.

Translation: When the passage of scripture contradicts what you believe, you attempt to baffle everyone with nonsensical statements.

The sheep Jesus is speaking of are not yet followers. They hear His voice, He calls them by name then they follow Him. Jesus said He had other sheep not of that fold (speaking of Gentiles)

These sheep listen to His voice. Jesus says He will lose none.

    peace to you

Note the unmitigated gall of claiming no attacks. Utterly false and malicious statement. How about if I claimed the Calvinist posters on this thread cannot grasp scripture.

Constant denial of scripture, with absolutely no explanation is standard smokescreed.

You do not seem to pay attention to the verses offered, you just repeat your fragmented verses, so...

Here is what I said in post 14:
Yet another denial of the obvious. Yes, to be open to God's word is the cause of being considered "of My sheep."
And not being open to God's word is the cause of not being considered "of My sheep."

Did I present scripture with words added? Nope. I presented the meaning of the phrase "of My sheep." So a completely false charge, rather than addressing my view.

The claim that Calvinist doctrine can be found just by reading is nonsense. Scripture says "no one seeks after God" and Calvinists read it as saying no one seeks after God at any time. Thus presupposition drives claims of finding false doctrine in scripture.

I have no idea concerning Canadyid interpretation of scripture, I am addressing the doctrines of Calvinism which delete, add, and alter the meaning of words and phrases.

Next we get the infantile claim of mind reading. Go figure

Yet another you, you, you post with nothing on topic.
I have addressed dozens of verses offered in defense of the fiction of Calvinism, whereas the posters defending do not address the rebuttal other than "taint so", it does not mean that, and so forth and so one.

Total Spiritual Inability and Irresistible Grace are unbiblical as demonstrated by Matthew 23:13, were people were in the process of entering the kingdom, thus seeking God, and were prevented from entering, thus the grace was not irresistible.

Jesus said the “cause” of their unbelief was not being “of My Sheep”

You stated the “cause” of their not being of My sheep was “not being open to God’s word”

You changed the focus of our Lord Jesus Christ: You added words to the passage (in explanation) to force a meaning contrary to what our Lord Jesus Christ plainly stated.

    Peace to you

What did Jesus tell them? He said, “I never knew you”.

So, you think these people were genuinely seeking God, doing all sorts of good works in Jesus’s name and at the judgement they learned the truth….

Only those “known” by Jesus have eternal life.

Jesus said, I know My sheep, I call them by name, and they follow me.

Looks like God choses those He desires for salvation.

    Peace to you

Nonsense, please address the thread topic, all this petty use of false charges, then denial should be beneath posters trying to reach truth.

Here the claim Jesus did not mean what He said is once again trotted out. And you do not quote Matthew 23:13, but switch to Matthew 7:23. More obfuscation

Is "only those 'known' by Jesus have eternal life" in dispute? Nope so more obfuscation

Is the fact "God chooses those He desires for salvation" in dispute? Nope so more obfuscation

And here is the actual issue: Total Spiritual Inability and Irresistible Grace are unbiblical as demonstrated by Matthew 23:13, where people were in the process of entering the kingdom, thus seeking God, and were prevented from entering, thus the grace was not irresistible!

Here is a summary of Particular Reconciliation and General Reconciliation

    Particular Reconciliation:
    (1) God preselected folks for salvation before creation
    (2) Christ came and died for those folks - limited atonement
    (3) God gives those folks faith in Christ, then accepts their faith and places them in Christ.

    General Reconciliation
    (1) God selected Christ to redeem mankind before creation. Therefore those chosen and placed in Christ during their lifetime through belief in the truth were corporately chosen as the target group of His redemption plan before the foundation of the world.
    (2) Christ came and died for mankind in general but not specifically for each individual.
    (3) God chooses folks and places them in Christ after accepting their faith and reckoning it as righteousness.

The first point of difference centers on the meaning of Ephesians 1:4 which says we (born again believers) were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world. Particular Reconciliation maintains that being chosen in Him means being chosen as foreseen individuals. General Reconciliation maintains that being chosen in Him means Christ was chosen to be the Lamb of God before the foundation of the world and anyone subsequently redeemed by the Lamb was corporately chosen when He was chosen individually, because you do not choose a Redeemer without a plan to redeem, thus everyone to be redeemed was corporately chosen when His Redeemer was chosen.

The second point of difference centers on the meaning of 1 John 2:2 which says He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. Particular Reconciliation maintains that Jesus is the propitiation not only for elect Jews but also for elect Gentiles. General Reconciliation maintains that Christ is the propitiation not only for believers, but also for everybody else, the whole world. Propitiation means that God’s acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice provides the means of salvation, the mechanism of reconciliation. When God puts a believer spiritually in Christ they “receive” the reconciliation provided by Christ’s sacrifice.

The third point of difference centers on the meaning of Romans 4:5 which says but to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness. Particular Reconciliation maintains the “his faith” was supernaturally given to him by God because the unregenerate are spiritually unable to trust in Christ. General Reconciliation maintains “his faith” is the individual’s trust in Christ, because if it were God’s gift of faith, it would not need to be reckoned as righteousness.

Thus the ability to put our faith in Christ, rather than the fiction of the gift of faith, is on topic.

Your OP has been addressed. Your definitions have been corrected and your interpretations addressed and reproved. You keep returning to your own vomit.

No false charges. I repeated what you stated.

Jesus said the “cause” of their unbelief was that they were not “of My sheep”.

You stated the “cause” of their not being “of My sheep” was they weren’t open to God’s word.

Jesus did not say that. You added that as an explanation. By doing so, you fundamentally change the meaning of the passage so as to support your doctrine.

    That’s the truth.

    thanks for the conversation

    peace to you

You are correct. I misquoted you. Apologies.

It is Matthew 7:23 where Jesus tells those trying to get into heaven, claiming all the good works they had done in His name, that He never knew them and casts them out.

    peace to you
