If we utterly fail to keep His commandments, what evidence is there that we love Him?

That is precisely what I am saying. So if there is no evidence, what does it say about someone's salvation?

 

We have almost no information concerning those who die in infancy. We lay them in the hands of the God who will certainly do right. 'The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and our children forever that we may do all the words of this law' (Deuteronomy 29:29).

 

That's not what Ephesians 2:10 says. We are saved for good works, so if there are no good works, it begs the question of whether we are saved. Of course, if we don't live long enough to do any good works, like the thief on the cross or those who die in infancy, then God can be trusted to do what is right.

 

So? Are you pitting Romans 5:9 against Ephesians 2:10?

This, in Britain, is called a 'have you stopped beating your wife yet' question. It cannot be answered with a yes or a no. The word 'still' suggests that I have at some time trusted in salvation by works, which I have never done.
FYI, Mrs Marprelate and I recently celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary. How she tolerates me is indeed a mystery, but you will have to ask her about that. .

 

One can never do anything bad enough to cancel one's salvation pre-supposing that one is actually saved.
