If you’re talking about me, I read books. I also study the “only Book.”Why is it the most stand ground people have read only one book and refuse to study that book?
How can you say only Bible when it has been re-written so many times. If you’re talking about me, I read books. I also study the “only Book.”
But I don’t read fairy tales and call it Bible study.
If you’re not specifically talking about me, it still applies.
Sorry I don’t understand your question.. please explain furtherWhy is it the most stand ground people have read only one book and refuse to study that book?
Good questionHow can you say only Bible when it has been re-written so many times.
Good question… so what do you advise?
I had so many questions about the meaning of the first post that I initially passed it by.How can you say only Bible when it has been re-written so many times.
Thus the need to read academic studies of the Bible. “ Misquoting Jesus “ missing chapters of the Bible and “a dummies guide to Christianity “ are must reads. I am looking of guidance in terms of this topic. With the anniversary of Auschwitz the stories of Germans who saw no earthly judgment has me wonder of their time at the gate ? Then that leads to our time at the gate. Do we get a pass for ignorance. Will our “ they deserve to die “ get a pass ?I had so many questions about the meaning of the first post that I initially passed it by.
I'm still confused by who "stand ground people" are.
Am I a stand ground people? I certainly am firm about what I believe.
But I also firmly believe that others have the right to be wrong.
Ben, it's your next statement that snagged me into this conversation.
The one where you say the Bible "has been re-written so many times",
It communicates to me, a fundamental misunderstanding of how a translation works.
What exactly do you mean when you say, the Bible "has been re-written"?
Rob
It was your phrasing. Can’t you remember your last post? It gets quoted in the reply. You should read it. Expanding your reading will help you to have a more accurate understanding. How can you say only Bible when it has been re-written so many times.
Do I have to read every translation to have read it?read only one book

Also, the reason I jumped in first is because the poster suggested to me on another thread that I read sci-fi to get a better idea of who God is.I had so many questions about the meaning of the first post that I initially passed it by.

The mindset is that reading one book without 1 knowing the changes, 2 understanding that it is written for a purpose, 3 understanding it is not the undisputed truth. It was your phrasing. Can’t you remember your last post? It gets quoted in the reply. You should read it. Expanding your reading will help you to have a more accurate understanding.
Do I have to read every translation to have read it?
But tell me, how can you say anyone has read only one book? Do you catalog everyone else’s time? Or do you really just have baseless opinions?
It is a fact that persons of the intelligence of the Einstein’s , Clark, Sagan do a lot of thinking and studying of spirituality and their witting help understand God.Also, the reason I jumped in first is because the poster suggested to me on another thread that I read sci-fi to get a better idea of who God is.
Not my idea of Bible study books.
I asked indirectly, if the op was because of our conversation in the other thread. I didn’t get an answer.
But why, if I don’t read his science-fiction fantasy am I suddenly a one book person. (And then asking about being called a one book person, receive a deflection to the Bible has been rewritten)
I’m having a hard time taking the OP seriously.
When I talk about God, I don’t expect people to ask me the equivalent of, have you incorporated the twilight zone into your definition of God?It is a fact that persons of the intelligence of the Einstein’s , Clark, Sagan do a lot of thinking and studying of spirituality and their witting help understand God.
And now a third perspective of the meaning of “one book.”The mindset is that reading one book without 1 knowing the changes, 2 understanding that it is written for a purpose, 3 understanding it is not the undisputed truth.
And now a third perspective of the meaning of “one book.”
If God’s word is truth, and that is what Jesus said, surely you don’t think God is hiding it from us?
Since you don’t believe God’s word is truth, tell me Pilate, what is truth?
As explained in “ Misquoting Jesus “ the words have been changed many times. And now a third perspective of the meaning of “one book.”
If God’s word is truth, and that is what Jesus said, surely you don’t think God is hiding it from us?
Since you don’t believe God’s word is truth, tell me Pilate, what is truth?
So misquoting Jesus has it right and the Bible has it wrong? As explained in “ Misquoting Jesus “ the words have been changed many times.
This is why I spent time getting a lot of books on a Christianity from the library.
I like to go to libraries and get 6 books on a topic, spiritually, climate, boats, immigration etc. read them and them more until all resd
It is obvious you have not read the book.So misquoting Jesus has it right and the Bible has it wrong?
What makes you sure that author is not misquoting Jesus?
So the author doesn’t misquote Jesus? He has all the answer correct? It is obvious you have not read the book.
The author has PhDs in theology. Had access to the hidden Vatican library. Instead of dismissing the book try reading it .he explains how it changed some details but not the core message. That is why “the dummies guide to Christianity “ is such a great book.So the author doesn’t misquote Jesus? He has all the answer correct?
