He treated Christ to be sin

You’re wrong about the interpretation of the Greek. But even if you were right, it’s not just the Greek... the Hebrew says it as well. Isaiah 53:6 (NASB) All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him...

He treated Christ to be sin

God is life. Jesus is God. Jesus died. Ergo, we know that the immutable attributes of God were suspended in Christ at some literal point. Gal 4:4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, Psa 8:4-5 NASB 4 What is man that You take...

Calvin & Arminius were both wrong

That’s why God preached the gospel to Abraham. Without that intervention we’d all still be lost. Romans 10:13-17 (NASB) 13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have...

He treated Christ to be sin

My point was to show that the Lamb was spotless when it was selected. The spotlessness is a qualification for the ritual to begin. However, once the ritual begins, obviously, changes occur to the lamb (changes in it's spotlessness) that do not disqualify it during the process. Similarly...

He treated Christ to be sin

Yes. Just as the priest would sacrifice the lamb, placing his hand on the head to transfer the sin of the nation or individual to it... the lamb was an acceptable substitution only if it was without spot or blemish... but prior to death it would have the sin of the person making the guilt...

He treated Christ to be sin

once you properly undrerstand how salvation works... the mechanics of it... you understand the necessity, simplicity, and beauty of the notion that Christ literally became sin (was imputed sin, was credited with sin, had our sin laid upon him, was clothed in our sin, however you want to think of...

He treated Christ to be sin

Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”— Deuteronomy 21:23 his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is...

    On Baptism...

Here is my take. James 2:21-24 talks of Abraham being saved by his faith in the gospel. But it says that works is an indicator of faith, not of salvation. Abraham was saved (made righteous) for his faith alone, and his works demonstrated his faith was genuine. Therefore, works do not act...

The AOG and speaking in tongues

Sure, that was my point. It doesn't follow that tongues HAVE ceased because it says tongues MAY cease. My point was to compare it to the other things which we assume haven't ceased to draw attention to the misuse of that scripture to support the notion that tongues HAVE ceased. The bottom...

The AOG and speaking in tongues

I agree. Actual tongues is when a person who speaks that language can actually understand what you are saying.

The AOG and speaking in tongues

Since prophecies and knowledge are still around, we can safely assume so too are tongues.

The AOG and speaking in tongues

Like all the other spiritual gifts (prophecy for example), there is always counterfeit in action. It doesn’t mean there isn’t a legitimate use, but rather that we need to be discerning. The scripture plainly says not to forbid tongues, but that it should be done orderly & properly.

The AOG and speaking in tongues

I wouldn't take that seriously, no. They seem possessed, but not by the Holy Spirit. However, if someone who did not know a word of English started speaking in perfect English, this would be convincing to an unbeliever (this has been known to happen in churches outside of the USA, for example).

The AOG and speaking in tongues

The valid reasons for tongues are 1)as a sign for unbelievers (sadly the church in America doesn't really minister to unbelievers as a general rule of thumb), 2) as a private prayer between a believer and God, or 3) with interpretation to exhort believers. I have heard of testimony given of...

The AOG and speaking in tongues

The way the church is to handle tongues (and it's purpose) is delineated in scripture: 1Co 14:13-33 NASB 13 Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 What is [the outcome] then? I will pray...

What would make you change your opinion?

This is the role debate brings for me. When people challenge my views with scripture & I have to investigate their claims in scripture, I always learn something. Often just seeing something from another perspective serves to expand my perspective. I frequently adopt portions of arguments that...

    Devoted Service

Lukewarm Christianity is rife in the USA, but there remains many thousands who are still able to stand. I don’t see Trump as a savior, but rather evidence that God has answered our prayer to remember the remnant that exists here. He is a respite from the path of spiritual darkness that Obama...

    Devoted Service

Ephesians 6:11-13 (NASB) 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual...

    The Lost Tribes of Israel...

Galatians 3:6-9 (NASB) 6 Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7 Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. 8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham...

Calvin & Arminius were both wrong

The question isn’t whether faith is related to salvation, but whether righteousness comes before or after faith. If salvation comes through faith, one must have faith before they become saved. That is common sense. Otherwise, it would say we are faithful through salvation. Yet Calvinists...
