    Disagreements about the Atonement

Are you suggesting that JonC and I are the same person?! What a joke.

    Disagreements about the Atonement

I reject PSA for two reasons: (1) It is a diabolical theory which makes its god a monster. (2) Like dispensationalism, it is a 'johnny-come-lately' invention. The Magisterial Reformers came up with it -- you know, the same ones who advocated religious freedom for themselves while denying the...

    Healing and miracles

John, thanks very much for telling about all those experiences. I think an experience beats an argument most of the time. I believe God still heals, and still does miracles. I wish I could see more of that. But I am very thankful for what God has done for me, which is a lot.

    Eschatology

I'm happy that you have that assurance. Thanks for your post.

    Eschatology

I believe I am totally surrendered to God. How do you know that still, small voice is the Holy Spirit and not just your conscience?

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Oh, yes, I like a lot of Anabaptist theology. Although I don't adhere to pacifism the way they teach it.

    Eschatology

I need something tangible. I know the Holy Spirit is said to indwell believers, but I have no indication that He is in me.

    Any Free-will Baptists here?

    Old age

Forgive the following 'rant': The scripture suggests that Jesus experienced all the trials that come on us as humans, but He never experienced old age. As I have entered my seventh decade of life, I find it incredibly lonely. I have had serious health issues in my younger years, but I am facing...

    Eschatology

    Yes, I do.

    Eschatology

Thanks. I am happy for you. I have a firm beliefs in the bodily resurrection of Jesus. I just wish I knew him like the Apostle Thomas came to know him.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

In the West, John Wesley was influenced by Orthodoxy, and I am attracted to some aspects of Wesleyan theology. I much prefer the EOC to the RCC but could never belong to either. I was raised Baptist, drifted away, but came back.

    Eschatology

I've got lots of head knowledge, from 50 years of my passion being church history and theology. And I have some firm beliefs. But life circumstances have me questioning everything -- again. I did this originally in my early twenties. I've had a few experiences that I was certain were from God...

    Eschatology

I guess I'm pretty much where you are on all this.

    Eschatology

Yes, I've posted a lot. I've got many strong beliefs, but very few certainties, so I'm exploring. I can appreciate struggling to find what you believe. Thanks for sharing part of your journey.

    Eschatology

What do you believe? Premillenialism? Dispensationalism? Amillenialism? Do you believe in a rapture? I'm not sure where I am in this, but I am sure where I am not: Dispensationalism, and a rapture theology.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Yes, I think so too, and to early Quakerism. I could never be Orthodox for other reasons. I could maybe be a Quaker, in some parts of the country, but not a liberal Quaker. That's if there was no acceptable Baptist church around. I'm conservative, but not fundamentalist, and not liberal. I'm not...

    Problem with church attendance

I agree that Covid was real, and a killer. I know people who died from it, and people who got it at church. One of my best friends got it at work and was hospitalized; he survived but had trouble with his breathing and oxygen levels for quite some time. I wish, though, that churches could have...

Why should one be a Baptist instead of simply being...

Presbyterians are certainly covenantal in their theology.
