Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

I think I may have to agree with you there. I definitely see the GWT as a future event.

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

Would the sun and moon being obscured really be so unusual that the prophets had to write that down? While they don't happen every day, it's not all that rare either. Meteors are definitely not rare, and not worthy of a prophet making special mention of them. Therefore, I must respectfully...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

I've given you proof a dozen times. You are determined not to see it.

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

Seems to be a case of "the pot calling the kettle black". Talk about twisting Scripture, the Futurist view is 100% conjecture and misunderstanding prophecy. Of course symbolic passages point to something literal. There would be no point to them if they didn't. What you fail to see here is...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

If it hadn't happened, I would agree with you.:)

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

1 Thess. 4:17 is commonly used to prove the rapture. In context, vs. 13-18 are about those who died in Christ, and the resurrection body. In vs. 16, we see that the Lord will descend from Heaven. "Descend" was used to describe the priest's descent from the Temple to announce that atonement...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

There is a 3rd possibility. This prophecy has been fulfilled, but you don't recognize it's fulfillment because you are looking for something else. As an old saying goes, "to a hammer, everything looks like a nail". To a "futurist", everything has to be literal, even when the original authors...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

Neither should we ignore the symbolism to make it literal to fit the futurist interpretation.

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

Are you referring to those who view all prophecies as symbolic or allegorical?

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

Hi, Rev. I've been trying to get your meaning about what my "defense of scripture" is. All I can come up with is what all Christians should use as their defense of scripture - prayer for clear revelation of God's Word as we study. I'm sure that is what you do, and I assure you that is what I...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

Oops. I accidentally put all my responses in the text of your original message. You will need to expand the thread above to see them. Looking forward to the "Nero" thread. FYI - I'm only on the Baptist Board during the week, so I may not reply right away after it's posted.

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

If you really could "prove" your point regarding the "futurist" view of the Beast, etc., I'd switch back to that view. As it is, I see more proof to support the preterist view. The true context of Scripture shows there was / will be no literal mark. I used to believe the mark of the beast...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

All Scripture must be interpreted according to its "literal" sense, whether it's historical narrative, didactic, poetic, or prophetic symbolism. To re-state the obvious, we will never agree. It's the "futurist" view that is made up by man; preterism is the orthodox view.

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

What do you base this on? (By the way, I haven't forgotten your earlier comments regarding the Rapture, etc. I won't have time to address that until tomorrow. Got a report to finish up. I only have time for quick answers right now.

My apologies, Brother. I'm not trying to be arrogant. I truly don't know what you are getting to with your question.

Scripture is pretty clear, so I really don't know what you mean here.

    Social Security is the reason

After my sister passed away several years ago (heart failure), her husband shacked up with a woman for pretty much the same reason. I told my brother-in-law that living together outside the bonds of marriage is sin, regardless of the reason. Unfortunately, the government does seem to...

I appreciate your wisdom, knowledge, and experience - really. That doesn't guarantee the you are right in this point. Remember that Elihu provided more wisdom to Job than did Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar.

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

I meant to reply to this comment earlier. Brother Roby, if I truly thought that Preterism was false, I would repent and run from it. Discerning truth from error is far more important than hanging on to any doctrine or view because of stubborn pride. I left the premillennial dispensationalist...

Preterists Cannot Prove Their Assertions !

You don't take any of the evidence that I present as "credible" because you are looking for something entirely different. We need to be careful not to interpret fulfilled prophecy as if it were still unfilled. That's the mistake Jews make - still looking for the Messiah when He came 2,000...
