    The Saved Backslider

I believe the prophecies to the Laodicean church match the times and the seasons, and even have heard Baptist preachers preach on this. 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God...

    Having Fun at Liberty University

This video did create controversy and did get put on the news. Well... Most of what Jerry Falwell did created controversy, but I liked the guy.

    Having Fun at Liberty University

Jerry Falwell (August 11, 1933 – May 15, 2007) was alive back in those days. I used to like to listen into the fireside chats he would weekly have with the students.

    The Latin is Forty

quarantine (n.) 1660s, "period a ship suspected of carrying disease is kept in isolation," from Italian quaranta giorni, literally "space of forty days," from quaranta "forty," from Latin quadraginta"forty," which is related to quattuor "four" (from PIE root *kwetwer- "four"). So called from the...

    The Latin is Forty

I have heard an Israeli researcher has examined the COVID-19 infections in many countries and noted that it consistently peaks in six weeks (about 40 days) and declines within eight week. Regardless of quarantine or no quarantine.

    The Latin is Forty

I heard that our word quarantine comes from 'quarantina' because they would ask crews of ships to stay on board forty days when docking in a harbor to prevent spreading diseases from abroad. Imagine if we had done that still today? Things like COVID-19 would certainly have been more manageable...

Catholic tradition, not the Bible, teaches a change to Sundaykeeping.

Christians met on the first day of the week since the earliest of days.... Early Christians always met on the First day (Sunday) and never kept the sabbath!

    The Baptist Revival

I attended a Fellowship Baptist church in the 1970's as a youth and attended a revival. I picked up the cassette tape and have uploaded the sermon. There was such conviction after the sermon that the church would pray and many would get saved. I would leave such service greatly refreshed. I...

    The Saved Backslider

Americans are different in their generation. I heard a Baptist preacher on the bbnradio.org speak of the evils of the Laodicean age just last week. I believe the churches as seven congregations.... Ephesus - Messianic - Beginning with the Apostle to the Circumcision, Peter Smyrna - Martyr -...

    The Saved Backslider

I had around a dozen family members over for Easter dinner in which I grilled steak and everyone contributed a dish. Before praying over the meal I told this story (quickly as everyone was hungry), reminding everyone that Christ came first as a sacrifice and will come next as a judge. And if...

    The Saved Backslider

When I was a teenager Dallas would encourage me to stay in revival. His last words to me was that there were no more revivals anymore. When our pictured pastor left the church 20 years ago he took the revival with him. The pastors to succeed him do not have revival or encourage Christian conference.

    The Saved Backslider

For all our falseness getting a touch by the actual Holy Spirit was a blessed experience. Our old pastor, pictured below, would have many revivals in a year.... I used to be a party guy as a teenager. Pictured below is farmer I would work for in the hay field... Dallas would shout at work...

The Not-So-Great Reason Divorce Rates Are Declining

Between 2008 and 2016, the divorce rate declined by 18 percent overall. When I asked Andrew Cherlin, a sociology professor at Johns Hopkins University, how to make sense of this trend, he opened his explanation with something of a koan: “In order to get divorced,” he said, “you have to get...

That was legalism! Saint Augustine once said, “Mans extremity is Gods opportunity.” In studying history as far as I am concerned mans extremity is God’s big headache!

    The Saved Backslider

I am no fan of legalism. To illustrate the old way I refer to George Clark Rankin, who received it Methodist in the 1800s. There were holiness groups to follow that would regretfully become legalistic. The Methodist had the opposite problem, and that was to backslide all together, prompting the...
