KJVO: What Improvements Can Be Made...

The Word "Pascha"....in Greek STILL means "Easter" to this day. There is an entirely different word used if they want to convey what they call the "Jewish Passover". The word "Passover"...though not technically incorrect, is misleading to the modern reader who tends to think that it is...

KJVO: What Improvements Can Be Made...

No....They did that for a reason....do some actual research before you spout off this way.

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

Agreed! It was a great post....I don't think I would agree completely (I'm a little more KJV I suppose)....but I can dig that post  Very well-written!

    Cowboy and Biker churches

 That was my impression. He asks a few honest questions with no intention of insulting, and he is immediately and consistently pounced on for it. I must have missed the part where he started hurling insults at "Cowboy Churches". WOW!!!! Just, WOW!!!

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

The initial intent was to create an entirely new Translation of the Bible which was an (abandoned and unfinished/un-published) project....That is what I was referring to....perhaps I should have made myself more clear. NO, my "google" thing was spot-on about that.

Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

Then presumably, it didn't effect James' wife and 7 kids either.

Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

I may be mistaken.....Perhaps I should look into it more. It's been my understanding that many of those letters are re-constructs. Perhaps I need more info. That being said....It doesn't amount to a hill of beans anyway.

Does your "gayness" effect how you view this discussion?

Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

This is the sum total of your argument...to which I will give two rejoinders: 1.) Provided that everything quoted is actually true....you apparently have read quite little of personal letters men wrote in that era. NEWSFLASH: These were NOT 19th century American Males.....men were MUCH...

Suppose for a Moment, if you will.....

I know....the purpose, however, of posing a hypothetical is to pose or force a particular answer to an idea which is inherently relevant to the LARGER issue at hand. You are CLEARLY avoiding answering the hypothetical..... Anyone who poses a hypothetical KNOWS that it's a...

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

This is true....but, then again, the KJV translators understood that though written in Greek....it was a distinctively HEBREW Spirit that the writers (who were Jews) were trying to preserve...... DUH!!! I note your man was a non-Christian when he began this failed and un-published work.

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

LOL  You DO realize that you are quoting from an abandoned and never actually PUBLISHED source right? His "Four Gospels" (from which you are quoting) never made it into permanent print apparently, or at least the greedy attempt at yet ONE MORE translation of the Bible (critically...

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

Here's a quicklist of some unintelligible archaicisms found in the NIV which my blessedly current KJV makes more readable for the modern seeker. http://www.av1611.org/kjv/vanceniv.html

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

If you actually BELIEVE that as of 1957 (when this was written) that that is an accurate representation of the general situation in most Churches than you have frankly deluded yourself.

Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

Of course!!! I don't care if Murdoch DOES own said publishing house....it's immaterial. But gay-baiting is equally as stupid....why would you follow suit? Here's a quick note on how to read those histories....what you will find is that the so-called "evidence" of James' homosexual...

Suppose for a Moment, if you will.....

I will say this......your hypothetical is exposing more than we might realize. except for some rather poignant responses earlier, the KJV-detractors simply REFUSE to answer your question. I find it quite telling that there are many on this thread who simply refuse to answer an obvious...

    Yes,the KJV has mistakes too

REALLY? Is that what you honestly think? That the only reason one might think the translators of the KJV were correct in that translation is because they assume the translators were "inspired"?....you didn't bother to research it at all did you? Fact: The word is translated "passover" 29...
