    The Rapture Poll

In a poll... shouldn't those views be taken seriously??? *what kind of American are you?* ;)

    The Rapture Poll

I hate that A-Tribism is never mentioned. Almost as if it is assumed everyone believes in a 7 year tribulation period. For the record, I believe in a Tribulation period that is running concurrently with the inaugurated kingdom. Just not a 7 year thingie.

Two good arguments for a Pretrib Rapture

Here is an example of why your argument of silence is weak... cause I can do the same thing. Evidence for no 7 year tribulation at all: b/c the Bible doesn't say anything about it! I think it is true, but it is not very strong.

Two good arguments for a Pretrib Rapture

They are arguments from silence. Those are the weakest kinds of arguments.

Your top three books of 2014 (other than the Bible)

Since you mentioned Revelation, one of the books endorsements was from Michael Gorman who wrote a book on Revelation which is absolutely amazing. Check it out if you get a chance: Reading Revelation Responsibly.

What books will you read this new year?

A round of applause for Evan who finally linked us to his book ideas!!! Way to go, brother! I have quite a few on my "to read" list. I'm going to finish what I have started in 2014 of course: Child's Biblical Theology of the OT and NT, Vangemeren's Progress of Redemption, and Van Til's...

I would love to hear your thoughts on Sprinkle's book of non-violence.

Your top three books of 2014 (other than the Bible)

Like I said... proper etiquette. If you make a book recommend, especially to purchase, you link us to the place wherein we can find it and buy it! It is just due diligence. Just like when I cite my sources and bibliography in a research paper. It is what you do.

Your top three books of 2014 (other than the Bible)

Not until you learn to link your book recommends to Amazon. It is proper etiquette.

Your top three books of 2014 (other than the Bible)

That was not the focus of my research (“Live Long in the Land: Covenantal Allusions in the Seven Messages to the Churches in Revelation 2–3.”). But I did read the 4 views book too.

    Southeastern?

Congrats... I just got my ThM diploma from SEBTS. Now that they have changed their PhD program a bit, I am considering them once again.

Your top three books of 2014 (other than the Bible)

Since so much of my 2014 was saturated around my thesis on Revelation... well you can imagine what my "top" 3 books will be about: 1. Bauckham's Climax of Prophecy 2. Beale's John's Use of the Old Testament in Revelation 3. Aune's Apocalypticism, Prophecy, and Magic in Early Christianity

    Biblical vs systematic theology

I say no. It would not be Paul's view of justification. It would be Paul's theology which happens to include justification among other things. Picking a topic is a systematic way to approach an author. Biblical theology would see the author's thoughts and theology develop and explain that. It...

    Biblical vs systematic theology

Except for "whole bible" biblical theologies, which are becoming more and more in vogue these days.

    Biblical vs systematic theology

The fact that you think this has anything to do w/ Calvinism tells me you don't understand the difference. And your pride won't let you admit that there is still more to learn from someone who, though you disagree w/ him theologically and has probably studied more than you, there may be some...

    Biblical vs systematic theology

Doubtful... Walvoord was a systemetician through and through. And most dispensationalism is pretty weak on biblical theology b/c they want a hard discontinuity. That makes for a difficult biblical narrative. My guess is, based on the subjects mentioned, they are likely studied from a systematic...

    Biblical vs systematic theology

Nope... pretty sure you didn't understand the distinction between the academic disciplines of systematic theology and biblical theology.
  19. Greektim

    Biblical vs systematic theology

To help those get acquainted w/ Biblical Theology as a theological discipline... you can read Köstenberger's article from Themelios 37.3 (2012): 445–64 here.

    Biblical vs systematic theology

Again... you misunderstand the difference in disciplines of biblical theology vs. systematic theology. In fact, your concepts convey your entrenchment to systematic theology, confirming what I stated in my post above.
