Why do we have ordinations and thus, Ordination services?

And the church knows next to nothing of what is going on.

Why do we have ordinations and thus, Ordination services?

B/c the Bible says.... in 2 Coronas 3.... oh n/m I'm not a huge fan of the system. Especially when you can pay money on the net and get "ordained". But the church essentially ordains a pastor or elder to ministry when they call him. The Baptist version of the council seems awfully...

The Johannine Comma & Biblical Inspiration

I love how you will call upon church fathers and theologians when it suits you. Priority for me still lies w/ Greek mss.

    Some arguments against Calvinism

Most hard truths are sad. But I also rejoice in that I am free of the burden as well. I will do my part, by God's grace, but it is not up to me. That is liberating... and yet very hard since like so many things we try to retain control of things we ought not.

    Some arguments against Calvinism

Quite true. And I am content in that truth that God is sovereign over my children. Like Paul, I pray and plead to God to bring them to spiritual life in the midst of God's sovereign election. Here is a short excerpt from Matt Chandler on this issue. Very good. http://www.cross.tv/88811...

The Johannine Comma & Biblical Inspiration

From the TR, or something like it, sure. The only reason the KJV is "attacked" is b/c guys like you prop it up on a pedestal and tell all the other translations to go away. Personally, I'm sick of the KJV. It was a gift for its time, but that time has run its course. God has gifted us with...

Textbook Misleading Many Seminary and Bible College Students

I'm a huge fan of Sailhamer's views of Gen. 1-2. Here is a good synopsis of the book and his view. http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/science-the-bible-and-the-promised-land The biblical theological value of his view is outstanding.

Who said anything about doing that in a church service?

    Some arguments against Calvinism

I'm sorry... I addressed the OP questions. If it is not to your satisfaction, a polite request would do. Give it a try instead of being so harsh. Not much salt seasoned in that post.

Then I don't understand what you are arguing for, I guess.

    Reformed Charismatics

I'm telling you, the rap I listen to far exceeds the dribble you hear in typical p&w songs. Just b/c you don't like the style, the rhythm and rhyme they create is outstanding... true examples of living out the creativity of an image-bearer of the Poet/Creator God. They even put sermon jams in...

    Some arguments against Calvinism

Amen... if God were centered on something less than himself, then he would treasure something that is not the best... is that not what idolatry is? Treasuring something that is less than the best? And when God is loving himself... it pours out onto us. I.e. when he is promoting himself, he is...

    A Question

Or the NKJV is a better translation than the WEB and the underlying text is close enough that they don't care. Plus it is more readily available and popular. And if you want the answer from the man that literally wrote the book then read this (from...

Textbook Misleading Many Seminary and Bible College Students

They are pretty much the same. Hint: look at the page numbers. The choice is up to the prof. I guarantee, Grudem uses his textbook in seminary. Most of these guys to set out to write an undergrad or grad level syst theo. Now I will grant, Grudem's popularity has give it a popular level...

    Reformed Charismatics

I'm not charismatic in my theology, but I want tattoos (my wife won't let me ;)), I dress casual (i wear anything from a tie one Sunday to shorts and a polo to jeans; and I'm an elder), I love good Xian rap music (Shai Linne is my fav). Do I have the appearance of evil? What if some of these...

    A Question

Rhetorical & literary analysis would say that in many places, the text of the NT was highly euphonic or the author quite skilled in the art of rhetoric. If you can find it, read Black's, "Literary Artistry of Hebrews" or some title similar. That is a good example. I have also done a few...

The Johannine Comma & Biblical Inspiration

If the mss that omit the comma are not the best, then we only have a few mss that you would consider reliable.
