    Feel the Spirit?

By your own testimony what you felt was joy. Feeling joy as a result of the Spirit inspired truths about a great God brought to your mind by the Spirit is absolutely biblical. Having an emotional sensitivity whereby you can discern a special presence of the Spirit is not. Can you provide a...

    Feel the Spirit?

I didn't read the article because the title indicated that perhaps you are misunderstanding what I am trying to say. If I am wrong, I'll gladly go back and read the article. Gospel Regeneration does not deny that regeneration precedes faith. I hold to that idea perhaps more radically than...

    Feel the Spirit?

What you felt was joy over your pondering upon the goodness of God. The Bible is full of references to that great blessing. What is not in the Bible, however, is some sixth sense whereby we "feel" when God is present. What I mean by that is when people say, "God was in that place. I...

    Feel the Spirit?

Thank you for this very productive post. It adds so much to the discussion. LOL!

    Feel the Spirit?

There have been good men on both sides of the issue, but I am convinced the Bible teaches Gospel regeneration. Those who adhere to a pure immediate regeneration often mistakenly think that Gospel regeneratoin is more synergistic, but as Fergusson points out, the fact that God uses the Gospel to...

    Feel the Spirit?

I think Sinclair Fergusson's words might be helpful to us in this discussion. "For the New Testament writers, however, there is not hint of a threat to divine sovereignty in the fact that the word is the instrumental cause of regeneration, while the Spirit is the efficient cause. This is...

    Feel the Spirit?

    I mean Gospel.

    Feel the Spirit?

I'm not talking about man being active. God does it all. Every bit of it. Man is totally passive. But God uses means to do it. What that passage does not say is that the wind blows without means. What it does say is that God is the one who brings it to pass, not man. Perhaps we...

    Why do you sin?

I haven't been reading Wes, but that is precisely what Winman does.

    Feel the Spirit?

The Gospel is a carnal means?

    Feel the Spirit?

I wasn't clear. I was employing a hypothetical. No. I do not believe God does do this. I am saying he COULD do it if he wanted to but he CHOOSES to use means (the Gospel). I was simply pointing out that God uses means even though he does not have to. I think the same is true with peace, joy...

    Why do you sin?

It is proof that they don't love God which is the worst sin any being can ever commit. Why do you think 100% of people who absolutely have the ability to never commit a singe sin all commit thousands, perhaps millions of sins? You have absolutely denied that. When you say that EVERY SINGLE...

    How long should sermons be

I think it depends on the preacher. Couldn't you listen to Albert Martin longer than you could some others? If a preacher has something worth saying and says it well the whole time, I find that even people with short attention spans can follow him for very long periods of time.

    How long should sermons be

I think this is an overreaction. He was just sharing that his attention span is not perhaps what he wishes it was and he wonders if preachers take this into account. I do. Although I preach at least 45 minutes every Lord's Day morning. I think calling him calloused and selfish is...

    Why do you sin?

It does not matter if they choose to do good when it suits them if they also choose to do evil when it suits them. The fact that they do what SUITS THEM is proof they are sinners. Is it equally possible for a person to go through life and never do any good?

    Feel the Spirit?

God has revealed in Scripture that he uses means to accomplish his purposes. For example, God can mystically impart the knowledge of Christ apart from the written word and the witness of the christian into the mind of the sinner and make him believe and save him. But God has chosen to reveal...

    Feel the Spirit?

What does it mean to you "in the Holy Spirit"? He is inspired by the Spirit of God to write the words we read above. They are actually included in the canon of Scripture. Unless you are for adding to the canon, which I know you are far too sound to be for, then this passage is not...

    Why do you sin?

Except that EVERY person DOES sin. Nobody goes through life without sinning. Which brings us full circle. Why? Because they do not prefer righteousness over ease and sinful pleasure many, many, many times throughout their lives. Like you for example. You said you have lied...

    Feel the Spirit?

I don't understand. Can you expound upon that a bit?
