    Ergun Caner

Don't forget Muslims that pointed this out too. Anything to discredit a Christian apologist... and Caner did it to himself.

    Where is God's preserved word?

    Isn't this assuming preservation?

The best Bible prophecy book to use to teach Sunday School

I guess you didn't watch the video. You would have seen an Amill who was not talking about preterism but giving valuable insight into the practical points of eschatology. I think you would profit greatly from Hanagraff's book. It is popular level, so nothing intense. If nothing else, it...

The best Bible prophecy book to use to teach Sunday School

I would say to start w/ Genesis. Since eschatology assumes a narrative or story line, why jump to the end? An eschatology is only as good as the protology it is following. Get the story line or redemptive history of the Bible. That was what helped me to understand the role or mission of...

    Seriously considering SATS...

Since I started this thread (a while ago), then I thought I should say this: I am no longer considering this seriously or at all. I don't think SATS could help me qualify for what I would like to do with a PhD. I am considering not even doing a PhD. I am getting sick of school. I am ready...

The best Bible prophecy book to use to teach Sunday School

I don't know that I know the "best" books in this are. But books that would be good for the lay level are: Hanagraff's The Apocalypse Code Storms's Kingdom Come (I haven't read it but plan on it later. But I have heard many reviews about it, all positive from different eschatological...

    Using God's name in vain

Yes... chapter and verse all that which equates it to the 3rd commandment that you listed. That sounded like a bunch of fundamentalist hoowey. So where does the Bible say making a mockery of his word equals misuse of the divine name?

    Using God's name in vain

Nothing in the post you quoted of me was about the 3rd commandment. I was correcting his pronunciation of YHWH. And then I asked about his understanding it to mean "providence." Pay attention. However, if the 3rd commandment was allowed to mean what it says, and not more, then it is very...

    NASB CO-Founder recants NASB.

I can't believe so many people have been defending the NASB so much on this thread instead of just throwing this hypocritical argument back into the KJVO face. If we can't use the KJV translators against their view, then no amount of NASB or ESV or NIV or fill in the blank translators make a...

    Using God's name in vain

Jehovah is a mispronunciation of the tetragrammaton YHWH, the divine name. And where do you get the idea of it meaning providence? That is a new one for me.

    OT/NT Theologies

Like I've said before, I believe biblical theology to be the salvation of evangelical theology.

    Using God's name in vain

I wouldn't agree w/ your first sentence. "god" is a title not a name. I don't care what profanity you put before it or after it. That doesn't turn it into a name. If it is not a name, can it actually be breaking any commandment?

    OT/NT Theologies

I had no idea Dever was a PhD from Cambridge nor that he wrote something like these tomes. I'll have to check them out. Wright's book was very formational and foundational to my thinking. I thought of mentioning Goldingay, but I haven't read it so... And Ladd is always good.

Like I said... just getting some dialogue going that is not about calvinism. I use female writings.

Would you use a commentary if

Just for reference, I am doing research on Revelation for my thesis this summer. I have to read many books, including feminist viewpoints of Revelation (3 female Rev scholars came to my mind immediately). Some of them are quite good. But this is also an academic research project. Should...

    OT/NT Theologies

I forgot to mention Drama of Scripture by Bartholemew and Goheen. This book is sweeping the nation. It is so popular, that the NIV has condensed it down to a few pages to put at the intro of their Bibles. I have used their model (slightly adapted) in my teaching. It is not a deep read...

    OT/NT Theologies

Thanks for tooting my horn. You are too kind, even after I shamed myself in another thread. But preachinjesus is a true intellectual. And Jonathan.Boreland is up there too. There are more, but these two and maybe a few others come to my mind first and have the credentials to back it up.
