    A Question about Baptist Pastors

Just to be fair to the facts... Paul did not write nearly 50% of the NT. In fact, the majority was written by Luke (good friend of Paul) ;) And also to be fair, I think the way it was stated was very well said... "well studied Pastors are certainly modeled in the NT."

    A Question about Baptist Pastors

The reality is, even in the "SBC 6", the faculty disagree on minor issues like eschatology and such. So the issue that was presented is not even a real one since a student is likely to run across various views throughout his education. Thus he must think critically and decide for himself what...

    A Question about Baptist Pastors

I'm a baptistic elder/pastor in my evangelical church (still am SBC though when in the states). My theological views changed radically after bible college but while in post grad studies. So I changed. It was not so much leaving the baptist tradition so much as leaving the fundamentalist fold...

    Fundamental Baptist Colleges

Did grad and post grad classes together at Piedmont. I would have graduated w/ him for the PhD, but I left the school for various reasons.

I know one of your theology prof's: Dr. Christmas. I think we had a few classes together back in grad and postgrad school. Its been a while so I don't remember as clearly as I should.

Matthew 24:2 ... is it "World" or "Age" ?

Let me respond with another question. Why is "eternal life" always translated as such when the phrase is less idiomatic of eternity and more idiomatic for Jewish thinking of the "age of life" or the "age to come" after the present age??? Its just what translations do. Its tradition!

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

Tell me, sir, what is the criticism??? Cause I don't know anymore. Do you? I was trying to be fair. It is hard to be fair and ask someone to list something that I myself have not listed. So instead of thinking so ill of me and that everything I do must be malicious, try being a bit more...

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

You deny the infallibility of Scripture? And I don't mean to imply that dispensationalism is the unacademic view. Many dispies are very academic (I like to think I used to be one having published a few articles in theological journals while a dispensationalist). I didn't even know this was...

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

And yet again... I did include myself as those who need to improve. Or did you miss that??? And thomas15 said he is more baptistic than baptists. So what can I make of that but we have very different starting points, and for him baptist theology is the beginning of his. So I think it is...

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

Don't misunderstand. I am clarifying my view, not his. And how arrogant is it to accuse of arrogance when we are only typing? You don't know my tone. I'm sick of having to defend my words b/c so many don't take the time to assume better of the person behind the keyboard. We all (myself...

Then we certainly have a large difference in starting points when it comes to theology. For me, baptist theology is not the end all be all of determining good theology. So we have a much different perspective from one another determining good theology from bad. Certainly, we would both claim...

Maybe I should preface that I am an evangelical more than I am a baptist (similar to someone saying he is a Virginian first before an American). I am baptistic in my theology and part of the SBC. But I'm not baptist be/c it is the end all be all denomination. I don't think being baptist is...

    Fundamental Baptist Colleges

More appropriate is the concept of Militant, Separated, or Radical Fundamentalists. I myself claim to hold to the fundamentals of the Christian faith, but so do many Catholics (VB, resurrection, trinity, etc). But I consider myself an evangelical not a fundamentalist. I am conservative for...

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

Which is one of the reasons I gave up on this thread. I think there is a lack of honesty here. It is not that anyone is lying, but plenty are passing judgment on a man's writings but won't admit to the extent of what they have read (lack of honesty). Even worse, I've heard the "Well I read...

Listen, I don't want to argue over the man or his theology any more. I like him, you don't. I know his views and his flaws. I don't think you know them as well as I do, but who cares. Let's move on to gospel issues rather than this peripheral one.

This also goes to help what Wright meant in his quotes about the church getting a lot of stuff incorrect.

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

then So your basic contention with Wright is that he is anti-dispensational??? Big deal. If you ask me, he is only bring to light what many others have been saying for a while. He just happens to be far more eloquent than many in the past. You should read his Surprised by Hope to find out a...

    N. T. Wright on women bishops

:BangHead: Good grief :tonofbricks: My problem w/ most of you guys who bash Wright is that it is not b/c you have read him and thus can offer a fair treatment of his views and then disagree. You just don't like him b/c of his denominational direction, his supposed view of Scripture (spouted...
