    Theology: The bible and systems

The 4 definitely have their own theological voices and agendas. But when you deal w/ the 4, I admit that I kind of place them as a canon w/in the canon. But that's not what you are really asking is it? Now if you are asking if their theology is different in the sense that it conflicts; then I...

    Emergent church one stop thread

This movement came and went 10 years ago. It is all but dead. The more conservative emerging church movement has a bit more staying power, but it is like the reformed resurgence and seen by many to be a fad. The essence of ermegent thinking is that it is neo-liberalism or a new liberalism...

    Theology: The bible and systems

Both are certainly in the realm of systematic theology and not biblical theology. But I would argue that only the former is the "biblical" system. Thus this demonstrates my aversion to the title "biblical theology" and desire a new label to avoid confusion.

Could the current debate of Calvinism split the SBC???

What are your opinions? I say no.

    Theology: The bible and systems

I don't think you are representing biblical theology well at all. At least not its current, modern form.

The Voice of One Crying in the Wilderness

Or "a-crying-one" of the anarthrous participle is meant to be indefinite.

My reason for editing: n/m... read the post wrong... I'm an idiot.

    Theology: The bible and systems

Aren't we showing off our verbose and loquacious philology??? ;)

what would be the differences between Arminianism and Semi pel?

I fear that will take longer than it is worth. No worries. This thread is all but dead anyhow. The objection I have with the non-Calvies who do not like the lable "semi-pelagian" is that they associate it with full blown pelagian dogma. Just look at the above posts about original sin as if...

what would be the differences between Arminianism and Semi pel?

Forgive me. I'm still new in my interaction with others. For instance, you seem to be posting a lot all of the sudden (from my perspective). Can you at least provide a link for that???

    Theology: The bible and systems

I'd like to know which works you are referring to. I'd say what sets biblical theology apart from systematic more than anything else is that it is less philosophical and much more textual.

what would be the differences between Arminianism and Semi pel?

Well instead of saying your soteriology is like 2 different denominations (or whatever the anabaptists were), why don't you explain it. I see little definition in your position.

    Theology: The bible and systems

Actually, when I "give the gospel" I go through the story of redemption from creation to new creation. I utilize a biblical theological approach even in my gospel presentation. Part of the difference is that I refuse to "give a simple gospel" as you say. I advocate a comprehensive gospel...

    Theology: The bible and systems

I say they are at odds in the sense of methodology and what they produce. Much of systematics is done through prooftexting. The reality is, systematic theology should be an outgrowth of biblical theology, but rarely ever is. Biblical theology produces a more comprehensive understanding of...

what would be the differences between Arminianism and Semi pel?

Sorry your OP has deteriorate so quickly. I tried to make it a good discussion - fair and balanced.

what would be the differences between Arminianism and Semi pel?

As I understand it, Arminianism sprung out of reformed theology and held to the same view of total depravity as Calvinism - total inability (cf. the 3rd remonstrant). How it handled that situation was the dividing line. Arguing for a prevenient grace which enabled all people to have the...

    New D.Min. at Knox

Thanks to you, I actually pointed it out to a friend looking to do a DMin. He just finished his ThM and was looking at Gordon-Conwell, but he couldn't get into the cohort he wanted in time. This looked like a very agreeable alternative. We'll see. This guy is sharp. He needs to be doing a...

What is the “New Calvinism”? . . . And Are You a Part of It?

If "new calvinism" is simply "a designation given for the 21st century resurgence of Calvinism among Evangelicals and conservative Christians" as you quoted, then I are one. I admit I am a part of the reformed resurgence. But I also admit that I am not one b/c of the trend or fad (don't we all...

    The Book of Jeremiah

You seem pretty convinced that the 2 witnesses are Elijah and Moses. Couldn't they just be 2 witnesses??? Since you consider my view absolutely unbiblical (and thus heretical???) I'm not even going to say what I think it is. As to open air preaching, I will say one thing and admit another...

    Hac

Trust me... that was very useful. There is very little redeeming qualities for HAC. As TadQ said, there are "way better options out there."
