    ATS Board Meeting

Expanding to online degrees will expand student bodies... and thus the need for more professors.

    New D.Min. at Knox

He actually has considered it. He was in contact with someone from SATS who liked his very preliminary research idea (An integrative [read intratextual to be distinguished from intertextual] reading of Judges coupled with preaching Judges redemptively or some such). He's just not sure. I know...

    Reformed and Alcohol

What is the relationship between reformed believers and our acceptance to alcohol (and smoking cigars/pipes too)??? Conversely, what is the avarice from the non-Calvinist with these things? Why the opposites. Neither have to do with soteriology but seem pretty common together.

    Has BB changed your views?

I have wanted to ask this question for a while. I doubt very much any of us has done much to convince the others. Yet here we are (here I am) still at it.

    Theology: The bible and systems

Then I will acquiesce and ask you to prove so with any Scripture, systematic approach or otherwise. But this demonstrates my point. You are so committed to reading fuller revelation back. I'm not opposed to that. In fact, I am for that to a certain extent. But you do it to the point that...

    Theology: The bible and systems

Now how much of that is read in from a synchronic understanding of the rest of the canon? Or to put it another way, how much of that is based on systematic theology? The Israelite community probably did not go straight away to see this as the foundation for the "fall" of man. It served...

    Theology: The bible and systems

I'll demonstrate w/ a question. What doctrine are you primarily taught in Genesis 3?

That would be awesome!!! But I understand their hesitation.

    Theology: The bible and systems

Pick me! I actually haven't read all of his stuff, but I know much of what he represents through other Sailhamerites. I plan on reading his 2 major works on Torah this fall (busy summer): Pentateuch as Narrative and The Meaning of the Pentateuch.

Debit/Credit Card 3 digit security codes AND the anti-christ

This is what is called "newspaper exegesis". And FYI, nobody "spiritualize[s] everything". But, the apostles did not interpret the OT literally as you would argue. So why should we?

The Olivet Discourse in Mt 24 & Lk 21

Ok... again "unbiblical" is an opinion. You keep using the term as pontification. And if you have a problem w/ spiritualization, then you are also accusing the apostles of it as well, b/c they certainly used the OT in such a way. Read Matthew 2 if you doubt me. "Figural" is probably a better...

    Theology: The bible and systems

So says a systematic theology. Yet it was only a topic of revelation later on in Pauline writings. But his concept of the gospel, as well as the entire canonical concept of the gospel, is God's kingdom, God's blessing the nations, and God restoring creation (all of which are Pauline as well)...

    The Juvenilization of American Christianity

Watch this video which hits the nail on the head of what this thread is all about and how American Evangelicalism has missed the point by and large. It is only 2 minutes long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk8ERxqCZqQ

    Theology: The bible and systems

Where is it said he was given the greatest revelation from God? He didn't even write the majority of the NT. Luke did! And if you analyze his theology in Luke-Acts, you come away with a great understanding of the metanarrative or redemptive-historical view of the OT and its connection with...

    Theology: The bible and systems

No... I believe things like the doctrine of justification by faith is a subset of the theology set forth in the NT. This is also where I do interact with systematic theology in that it is a subset of salvation and not the gospel per se. A proper study of Romans would give one a full rounded...

The Olivet Discourse in Mt 24 & Lk 21

Curious, evangelist####, do you see Matt 24:30 referring to the 2nd coming??? This will tell a lot about how you view the OD. For instance, it is hard seeing this as 2nd coming when realizing Jesus is alluding from Daniel 7:13 which appears to refer to ascension.

    Theology: The bible and systems

Goodness gracious no!!! That is a systematic theological perspective which I loathe. Paul speaks on things not in the gospel accounts (where is Jesus' teaching on justification, present or future, by faith and etc.?). I would call the 4 accounts of the gospel the explanation of theology, NT & OT.

    Theology: The bible and systems

No... I am saying that each writer has a theological agenda that he is trying to convey. Deciphering that is part of the role of biblical theology. Unifying them into the story it tells is biblical theology. Categorizing teachings within each is systematic theology.
