I know we don't agree on some theology, but that put a big smile on my face. Glad my avatar was so useful ;)

Agreed that they are the same or interchangeable ideas. A question for you would be, which defines the other? I (obviously) define faith more in terms w/ repentance, mainly b/c the root word for faith implies persuasion and faithfulness. It accords very well to repentance.

is NT Wright Considered to be Evangelical?

Never said he was a spiritual giant. But he certainly is a biblical scholar & theology giant. And I don't know who made you the arbiter of what is correct and incorrect or attaining giant status. I'm a researcher so I love reading and hearing his thoughts. He's not as far off as some people...

is NT Wright Considered to be Evangelical?

Not sure about his creation theology. But I would probably venture a guess and say no he does not hold to gen. 1 being literal. Next, i don't know of a single person who believes what you wrote about Noah and the flood. Next, yes he believes adamantly about Moses and the exodus. That was...

Please define 'easy believism", as isn't it faith alone in Christ that does save?

Not going to hijack this thread so we can talk about that somewhere else.

is NT Wright Considered to be Evangelical?

But his main point is that it was early on that historic Christians began to abuse the word "justification" and apply it to all sorts of things. So really when you are referring to "historic Christianity" you are speaking of the reformation and on. But he has just uncovered a hugely important...

Please define 'easy believism", as isn't it faith alone in Christ that does save?

Or... easy believism is to dumb down and water down the message so much that the emphasis is man centered. Do you want to go to heaven? Yes! You don't want to go to hell??? Great! Just ask Jesus into your heart!!! Prayer this prayer... well, brother, you are on your way. If faith truly...

Spelling correction... it is a present participle. Particles have no tenses.

IF you are a pastor/Teacher/How Does the HS Illumination Assist You?

I've always had a hard time figuring things like this out. If we have no need of a teacher (1 John) yet a clear qualification for an elder is to teach, then how does this all fit together? What is illumination along w/ the study of God's word? Is there more illumination to be gained by...

What do you do with the many passages that speak of salvation but do not mention faith or belief??? Lk 24:47 is the one I keep bringing up, but there are tons.

So what does it mean when it says a repentance for the forgiveness of sins??? What does it mean when it says "repent and turn to him to have your sins blotted out"???

So repent for forgiveness of sins means to you "believe for forgiveness"???

is NT Wright Considered to be Evangelical?

Love NT Wright and would consider him solidly evangelical. His view on inerrancy/infallibility is one that is not a fundamentalist kind but match many sbc scholars' views. As far as I know he holds to the cross as atonement. His pauline theology is not too far off. His perspective is not as...

    Lordship Salvation volume 2

According to Lk 24:47, forgiveness and repentance are bound together with no mention of faith. Acts 3:19 makes it clear that repentance is what leads to forgiveness. Also cf. Lk 3:3 The fact that often repentance is associated with forgiveness so much implies that there is much less disjoint...

    Lordship Salvation volume 2

The fact that repentance is almost always tied to the forgiveness of sins makes it implicit that repentance is from sins. Passages like Lk 24:47 and Acts 2:38 make it clear what the repentance is all about. Other passages like Lk 5:32, 15:10 make it more explicit calling sinners to repent...

Great quotation. Pretty sure that is from Mission of God??? I'm reading it right now and about half way through. Great book! I also highly recommend his book on Jesus in the Old Testament. This guy is good.

    Lordship Salvation volume 2

My problem with the "simple message" concept is that the gospel is comprehensive and not simple. Certainly, small components are easy, but the overall message of the gospel throughout the entire Bible is not simple. It is far reaching and wide ranging. The fact that there is so much division...

    D.Min question

Neither LRU nor Temple is that highly thought of (though I've heard good things about Temple's DMin program). But I'm sure that is not a major concern w/ your Andersonville degree. But all things being equal, their accreditation is not anything to brag about. If you can do it through Liberty...

Pulled out of context??? You just complimented me for keeping it in context. Do you read what you say??? And what part about "he called the people unto him" is difficult to understand. The "people" are different from "his disciples" which were also part of the group. But the grammar point...
