    Annihilation

I like to read different viewpoints, even widely divergent and opposite ones. I'm not afraid of doing that.

    Annihilation

Well, I won't get into it here, but original meanings of words matter to me.

    Annihilation

Good info there on contrasting viewpoints.

I've had days, moments, where I wished I'd never been born. But your post is a good one.

    Ample refutation of PSA

https://files.therebelgod.com/AtonementFathersEQ.pdf https://files.therebelgod.com/FathersAbolishRetribution.pdf I posted these two articles again because I implore members to read them thoroughly to the end. They are rather long, but they are excellent. They deal with PSA and the ECF, and...

    Annihilation

You say that with a certainty that I don't believe is warranted.

    Annihilation

Here is an excellent article on Christian mortalism, even if it is on Wikipedia. Read all the way to the end -- fascinating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_mortalism

Yes, I know what the Sadducees and Pharisees believed. But Jewish beliefs, as a whole, were more varied.

    Annihilation

Lots of good posts here, and some good and valid points made, I believe. I am still undecided about what I believe. But I think I still lean toward annihilation. I believe the Jews didn't believe in the soul's immortality. So, where did that come from in Christianity -- the scriptures only? My...

    If you weren't Baptist...

I might be with you on that -- less extreme Pentecostals, or maybe some form of Wesleyanism, although I'd have a problem with infant baptism.

    If you weren't Baptist...

From what I know of you, from your posts, I think you are safe.

    If you weren't Baptist...

And so do Free-will Baptists, although they wouldn't term it like that. They'd say we can forfeit our salvation,or willingly give it up.

    If you weren't Baptist...

Could you further explain what you mean?

    If you weren't Baptist...

what denomination do you think you'd be a part of? (posting here so our non-Baptist friends can participate)

    PSA

I wouldn't agree that those show pagan influence. Those things you mentioned, the EOC holds different ideas of them, compared and contrasted with the RCC, which I do believe has pagan influences.

    PSA

The two long articles I posted offer ample evidence and proof to refute the claim that the ECF believed PSA. Reading your own Western johnny-come-lately heinous meanings back into the ECF writings and twisting them to suit your purpose is dishonest. But, hey, strain away at it until you pop...

    How we know

Thanks for the prayers, need all of those I can get. When the lesion was first detected by MRI, it got graded a PI-RADS 4, out of 5, with 5 meaning 'highly likely significant cancer'. Anyway, with my age of 70, I don't want surgery, as I have other health issues and don't know if I could...

    PSA

You know what I'm saying, and it isn't that Christianity is the same as the religions you listed. Christianity was born in the East, not in the West. It was born amidst an Eastern worldview, not a Western one. That's important for how doctrines were formulated and expressed.

    Other Baptist forums

Anybody know of any other Baptist forums? Maybe I'd be better off somewhere else. Edit: Well, in the last few minutes, I'm encouraged about continuing to participate here. Wishing peace to all, including me.

    How we know

I've got several serious health issues, the most serious being a prostate lesion that the radiologist says is 'likely significant cancer". I went on a plant-based diet, along with some other treatments, and the latest 'liquid biopsy' was encouraging.
