I am sickened by Christians who think it is okay to bully and intimidate others. I doubt that is how Jesus would have us behave.

You mean the same Jesus that said in Rom.1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts,

Surely you must mean the same Jesus who called certain people "vipers" and "whitewashed tombs." That Jesus?

Try to keep up. I'm pretty much anti-hate crime and have said so. Crime is crime and I see no reason to try to climb into the mind of the criminal to see what his motives were, and I see no reason to punish one motive more than another.

If a teacher rips a child's Bible from her hands, if done because she's just that stupid, she should be fired. If she does it to try to harm, intimidate or terrorize the child, she should be prosecuted. But why she was motivated to try to harm the child matters not to me, she should be prosecuted for harming the child period.

It is a ham sandwich. This is not comparable to a swastika. That is an exageration that holds no water. It is a ham sandwich. A ham sandwich. Did I say that it was a ham sandwich. :BangHead:

Would you be so kind as to explain just exactly what the difference is, in light of each one being used to intimidate, threaten or terrorize a jr high school student.

Or maybe the Jesus who said in Matthew 5 43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Ot Luke 7 27"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. 35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

If you are terrorized by a ham sandwich you have bigger issues than religion and Nazis. You need serious Psycholgocal help. The hypersensativity these days is a political tactic used to gain sympathy where reality makes no progress towards.

Whether this was a Hate Crime or just curiosity to see how the "new/different kids" would react, or somewhere in between, we probably will never know.
It seems most here will accept it was rude. This could have been handled in house and shouldn't have become a national news story. As for these children acting as Christians do we know if they even claim to be Christians?

When we by our example show the love of Jesus Christ to our brothers and sisters in Christ, then we can begin to expect the same from Christian Jr. High Students.
When we by our example show the love of Jesus Christ to those who don't know him then we can begin to expect the same from Christian Jr. High Students.
When children, youth and adults don't know Jesus as Savior and Lord we should not expect them to act with the love of Christ.

My 2 cents worth

You are exactly right, with your 2 cents.

That it was rude, is unquestionable. That it was a hate crime is what is being debated here. I say, let's get some perspective. Insulting someone with a food item is not on par with beheading or torture, as some self-righteous kumbayah types would have us believe.

I repeat: Over 250 million Christians will be persecuted/murdered for Jesus Christ this year all over the globe, most frequently at the hands of islamofascists who seek to rule the world by their shariah law. This is the Third Caliphate/Jihad.

If I had my way, there would be no need for such antics as the ham sandwich and the pig races, because they would all be on the next plane back to whatever Muslim country they came from. To save time, the planes dont have to land, just pray to Allah the parachutes work.

No, it's not. I've not read one person who said it should be prosecuted as a hate crime.

You said, "Throwing a ham sandwich on a table in a cafeteria is not a big deal."

That's what we're debating. It was rude, agressive, and threatening behavior and it boggles my mind how anyone, especially one who claims to be a follower of Christ could say that it is not a big deal.

You are way off base, especially bringing the Lord into the situation. Tell me, how does one be rude, aggressive (spelling), and threatening to someone whose life's ambition is to kill you, your family, and destroy your nation? What on earth does that have to do with the Gospel and being a follower of Christ. Are you one of these "kumbaya, Im ok youre ok" types. That is not the Gospel. Spreading the word about salvation, the Kingdom, uplifting Jesus, and defending the Christian life to death if necessary, is the Gospel.

Maybe you should read more and post less.

Understand that I feel no compulsion whatsoever to explain myself to you, but for the record, I joined the Navy when I was 17, spent a total of 12 years serving, most of in military police (Navy calls it Master-At-Arms if you want to get technical) and volunteered for Dessert Storm. If I could, I would go back in today to do my part in the WOT, but as of right now they're not taking half deaf 47 year olds. But I've got your kumaya here anytime you want to come get it.

How do you know what their life ambition is? We're talking about 12 year olds. And please tell me how throwing pork and Somali children is defending the Christian life. I'd love for someone to explain that to me. I can't believe this is even being discussed among Christians. I was an ornery cuss before I got saved (some would say I still am) but I would have never thought this kind of behavior was okay.

And did you really mean to say that in a discussion of our attitudes and beliefs that we should leave the Lord out of it? Amazing.

Regardless, the tone of the post, especially the one by Ladyeagle quoting the article makes it sound like it's not a big deal. It is a big deal. It falls way, way short of the God's standard, which, in case you have forgotten, is to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us.

Now that's just BALONEY...Uh, sorry.

The kid that left a ham sandwich on the table of Muslim children was wrong -- but this doesn't qualify as a "hate crime." It qualifies as a stupid, childish, inconsiderate middle school prank for which the kid should get a swift kick...

"Hate crimes," however, are the PC way of policing CERTAIN thoughts -- generally those thoughts that the liberal elite deem to be unacceptable. It is, therefore, acceptable to characterize [Conservative] talk radio as "hate speech," but the liberal who makes a movie about the assasination of President Bush is "an artist" whose "personal expression" is "worthy of consideration" and is a "contribution to the discourse of a society based on 1st amendment freedom of speech." It is deplorable to question the "patriotism" of flaming liberals who desire nothing more than the defeat of the United States military in wartime for the sole reason that they believe they can gain politically from the defeat, while these same people celebrate the plethora of books and magazine articles entitled "the why I hate Republicans Handbook," or "the why I hate G. W. Bush Handbook," or "why I hate conservatives," and the list goes on...

Those Mulslim children from Somalia should be treated with respect and made to feel welcome. However, they should be aware -- or educated -- that they don't live in Somalia anymore, and that the USA WELCOMES people of different religious and political persuasion and practice. If they wish to totally avoid contact with pork, ham, political comics, Christian crosses and Jewish stars or David, or even other people telling them that theirs is NOT the "true religion," then we ought to recommend they return to Somalia -- where that kind of garbage is welcomed -- and worked SO well for them. Otherwise, well, it's the Melting Pot...

Are you referring to the kid who put the ham sandwich out? How do you know he was a "Christian?"

If you are referring to any on this thread who have said clearly its wrong, yet have noted the EXTREME measures taken and called for by liberals to bend over backward to accomodate people of Islamic faith, while PUNISHING any display of Christian faith -- that's just plain old fashioned HYPOCRISY.

In short, MP, give it a rest.
