Did Jesus collect tax with the tax collectors? Did Jesus perform sexual favors with the harlots? Did Jesus join the Roman army?

1. Collecting tax is not a sin...in fact he didn't tell Zacheus not to collect taxes. Zach DID say he would stop cheating people.

2. Sexual favors with harlots is a sin, so of course Jesus didn't do that.

3. Joining an army is never called a sin in scripture...so I'm not sure your point here.

What exactly is the purpose of drinking alcohol if not to get buzzed?

How many people that we are witnessing to are gonna distinguish between you having a drink "because you like the taste" and them drinking to get drunk?

It's the APPEARANCE of evil if you're sitting there with a bottle in your hand.

Would we tell a drug addict I'm only gonna do part of what you're doing?
Would we tell the homosexual "I'm gonna do this once and it's okay but you're doing it to the extreme and again and again"?

If you wouldn't openly sit on the front pew of the church and do the same thing in front of everybody, ask yourself why not?

God has called for us to be HOLY. And we seem to look for every excuse to justify doing the very same things that a lost and dying world wants to do.

Many do look for those excuses... many don't have to look, they just invent them.

More pharasaical nonsense.

As Scripture not only allows but encourages alcoholic consumption, and calls it a blessing when used properly (like anything else), no excuses needed.

Take you and your manmade vices and leave.

Nehemiah 2:1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.

Actually, Nehemiah did not take the king his wine. The wine was already before the king. Nehemiah just picked it up and handed it to him.
Did you just seriously correct me from saying "Nehemiah took the king his wine" to "Nehemiah handed the king his wine"?

Did you do that with a straight face?

I will remind you Don that this is the same guy, along with FAL, who hounded the poor guy with Bipolar for taking medications because his condition was assessed as 'sin ' ...that's the type we are dealing with here.

More attempt to justify doing the same things that a lost and dying world is doing because you "have freedom in the Lord". Sounds like some Nicolaitan nonsense.

Therefore

“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”[d]
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”

This is hilarious. But people wonder why the church is seen as such a joke by the unsaved.

So tell me Zaac, what are you personally doing to make the world a better place....how are you going out to the lost? Where do you find them....in church perhaps?

well, our saviour was acuused of being a drunkard, and one who DARED to pal around with THOSE types like prostitutes and tax collectors!

How dare he do that and give us good folks here at church a bad name?

Oh yeah! Same ol' BB! 12 pages of bickering over alcohol when the question of the OP was answered on the first page:

If you are uncomfortable with your job, find a new one. (paraphrasing Ann)

Ya'll give one another a hug and I'll pass around the Sam Adams to those who want one and the sweet tea to those who don't. :D

I'll tell you why, its because of those that frown down on others for not following their man made vices...while shoving their faces full of food and trans fats.

Beg the question much? As stated, nothing to justify when Scripture and not your legalism is followed.

The wine was before the king... meaning it was in front of him. No need for Nehemiah to take it to him.

This is not a thread to list my ministry endeavors.:flower:

But I certainly don't go out to the lost with a beer in hand. We're to meet them where they are. That doesn't mean to indulge in the same things in which they are indulging.

Most of my going out to the lost is done in countries to which most folks don't want to go.

But I do encounter quite a few lost folks in the church.

He was accused of being a drunkard by folks who didn't know what He was drinking. He was sitting there with a Guinness in His hand while trying to convince them He wasn't drunk.

Nobody has said don't pal around with them.

I pal around with addicts and drunks and homosexuals and Mormons and Muslims. That doesn't mean I am to do the same things that they do or give the impression that I am.
