MB...

You posted...

Why not dig a little deeper you might find something else to judge others on. Of course you have the right because you never sin.

When did I "judge" anyone?

I simply responded to the topic, giving my opinion, just like every one else.

I adressed no one person individually

Should believers use such expressions as:

darn
gosh darn
goldang
dern
dag-nabbit
well, shoot
Oh, crud
oh my goodness
goodness gracious
dear gussie
I don't give a hoot
That's a crock of hooey
you're full of prunes

Now, in each of these, I've sugar-coated the words that might offend. Is it okay to sugar-coat or use acceptable substitutes?

Tom...

I say a few of those regularly. The reason I do is because of the witness it projects. It makes very clear, to the hearers, the words that I am *choosing* to NOT say.

Now, if you have to choose a certain company of people before you would use certain words, shouldn't that tell you something right there? The words we speak, we should be able to say them in front of anyone, whether they be saint or sinner, no?
:thumbs: This is what it boils down to. The op and some others on here are looking for excuses to be vile. Unbelievable.

[sarcasm]You caught me... I just want to take my Christian liberty and run crazy with it.[/sarcasm]

I'm looking at Phil 3:8.

Niv: What is more, I consider everything a loss

ESV: Indeed, I count everything as loss

NASB: More than that, I count all things to be loss

RSV: Indeed I count everything as loss

ASV: Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss

YLT: yes, indeed, and I count all things to be loss

Darby: But surely I count also all things to be loss

WEB: Yes doubtless, and I count all things [to be] loss

HNV: Yes most assuredly, and I count all things to be loss

Blue Letter Bible
Yep... looking at the wrong word... it is at the end of the sentence not the beginning.

The question was: Can Christians cuss ?
My answer is yes.
Just like a Christian can get drunk, or brawl, or smoke, or behave generally like a child of the devil instead of a child of God.
Now, if the question had been: SHOULD Christians cuss, or MAY Christian cuss, my answer would've been "no".
It is not expedient for a Christian to cuss, or get drunk, or brawl, or smoke, or behave generally like a child of the devil instead of a child of God.

Um... no. The argument leveled against me repeatedly is about offending people. But not all people are offended by it. Therefore, the language can change as the company changes.

The human company may change, but God is always there with you. Would you use that language in God's presence?

Does it not matter to you if the language you use is offensive to God, regardless of the human company you're in?

If God is offended, which is really the core issue, then I would avoid it altogether. But God, who created language, I do not believe is offended by the appropriate use of certain words.

Then you didn't read the OP carefully. Not surprising really.
Oh, I did. Your comment just above reinforces what I said. The fact you believe there are appropriate time to speak inappropriate things is not only dead wrong, but rebellious and ungodly.

That's a very thin veil to make a stand on, but you're welcome to it I guess.

Or you are dead wrong in saying that certain words are inappropriate at all times. I don't things words like s*** are necessarily inappropriate. But since certain members of society thinks they are, I avoid the use around them and reserve it for specific occasions.

The burden of proof remains on you to show not only how there is an appropriate time, but the words are not inappropriate.

 ...And this is why this thread has lasted as long as it has.

Unbelievable? Sadly, I'd say pathetic is more appropriate.
