I never quoted you saying this. Sense of Humor John. Notice the ;) at the end.

Just as wrong as a madman who starts fires is one who lies to (or about) another and then says, "I was only joking." Proverbs 26:18-19.

John - Thanks so much for this thread! I had never thought of this concept and when I told my husband he went "Huh! You know? He's right! What a good point!" We know a few preterists and this is a really interesting concept to consider when talking to them. Thank you again for your insight!

Glad it's a help. I'm just disappointed in myself that I didn't think of this approach sooner. It just seems so logical and Biblical now.

So we aren't the only dummies? LOL It is like when someone comes up with some genius way to hang a picture and I'm like "DUH!! That makes SO much sense!" :)

I've gotten two "funny" ratings on this post. I fail to see the humor, as I was serious as a heart attack. My take on this thread is we are seeing something akin to the heat generated in the CvA debates. Preterism is not all that well known or defined here in the States. So, JoJ asked to be informed as to the contours of the position held by members here. Many times questions like this are asked to get a better idea of what is being debated. In the course of this thread, JoJ raised a point of basic theological importance, the hypostatic union. This point of Christology is one of the Fundamentals of the Faith. Hence, there is nothing "funny" about it.

At this moment, this thread is nowhere near the closure limit. A serious question was asked in the OP.

But you can both be wrong
We can't both be wrong on this issue. Either Jesus came back spiritually in AD 70, as per the preterists. I say He did not. Preterists say He did. But so far no preterist has actually tried to answer my OP. Obfuscation galore!

This type of false accusation is why few people on the BB take you seriously. I suggest you stop.

So John can say God didn't lead me to my beliefs but I say something back and I'm crucified. You can always PM me and talk to me about your problem you seem to have with me.

What you said back was "True, But I don't see how you have the authority to say you have the total and flawless Doctrine."

1. Of course, John never claimed to "have the total and flawless Doctrine." So your post was nothing more than an untrue personal attack.

2. And nobody suggested you be crucified.

3. As to a PM, when you make a false accusation in the open forum I will respond in the open forum.

I suggest you re-read the Terms and Rules of the Baptist Board.

Prophecy70 - True Fundamentalism requires the future bodily visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth so its not you as much as your doctrine - well, maybe your demeanor.

Some of the "old timers" here get a little excited about doctrine.

“The twentieth century began with a tumultuous conservative uproar over the infiltration of numerous denominations by liberalism. The severity of the situation demanded immediate action. Heretical teachings were captivating and corrupting entire churches, schools and related organizations within multiplied denominations. Therefore, a coalition of interdenominational brethren, following a number of conferences, united around the five ‘fundamentals’ of the faith. They were:
  1. The inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture
  2. The deity of Jesus Christ
  3. The virgin birth of Christ
  4. The substitutionary, atoning work of Christ on the cross
  5. The physical resurrection and the personal bodily return of Christ to the earth.
The 5 Fundamentals of Fundamentalism

- Preterism is welcomed here as a friendly debate subject. There are a few others here at BB

but please consider the fundamentalist POV.

No argument with those - but the added five in your link are not Biblical doctrines.

I didn't mean it accusingly. But alright my apologies John.
