"Pageant" season? Do you mean beauty pageants or high school junior and senior proms? I've never heard the word used for the latter before. Maybe it's a regional thing.

Here in AL, pageant season starts January 1 and run though about Easter and then prom season starts! Yes, both school pageants and private pageants are held now and usually there are several to choose from. The diehards participate in all of them!

It's all over by June 1, but by that time it's wedding season, though weddings really are fairly steady all year long. July and August are usually pretty slow and then school starting starts things all over again. We also are one of the few places that does quality alterations, so back to school is always extra busy.

As ya'll can tell, I'm home again. My friends son did well and it ended up he only had to have one tooth out. It was a baby tooth that was "root bound", meaning the root of the tooth had not let go of the bone. (eew) He's 13 and still had this front tooth hanging on for dear life.

While I was there I did up a pile of alterations and then brought another pile home with me. Chris ended up there with me, the school decided they didn't want him. Good thing there is a recliner in the alterations room. He slept most of the time. Then Cassie called with a migraine and I had to get someone to carry her some meds cause the school was out. Did I mention there is a reason why I haven't worked in two years?

Rob, it actually only took one step into the kitchen to cure me of the sudden outbreak of cooking. Once I saw everything I would have to do in order to start cooking, I came to my senses, sent Cassie in to clean and Chris in to bake a cake mix instead. :D See, got cake to eat instead of cookies. Works for me! Anything to keep from cooking myself.

I'm stuffing my face right now. Something about working makes a person hungry! Since I can't type well and eat, I'll see ya'll later.

I'm back and doing well. :) Dr. said the nerve looked like an hourglass - it was so pinched! I'm actually not in a lot of pain - just very achy and sore but not bad enough for even taking the vicodin yet. I took 600mg motrin for a headache, though. :)

    Thanks for all your prayers!!

Good on you, Ann..Just don't overdo it..one can always be replaced in this life, so it is better to learn to say no now and go easy.

    Cheers,

Ann, Glad the surgery went well. Don't let not having much pain trick you into doing too much too soon, OK?

Best wishes, Ann. Take it easy!

School is cancelled again tomorrow (Wed.) My youngest kind of likes it but is beginning to be concerned about school going into June. (Oh, the horror!) Snow is forecast for this weekend.

    Good morning all,

I have been up since 2:00a.m. I will be SO glad to take this brace of this afternoon! I will sleep on the couch, on my right side (the problem is in my left ear) for 5 nights. If it works, I'll have no more vertigo!

It seems that everyone has Calcium 'crystals' in their inner ear, but mine somehow wandered out into the canal and that is what is causing the dizziness. Hopefully, they have been routed back to the inner ear where they belong.

Why am I not surprised? I get lost every time I drive out of town, so it just stands to reason that things in my body would lose their way also.

It is 14º here this morning and not going to be much warmer for the next few days. I believe we are in for some more snow - at least some flurries. The streets are still snow-covered and icy, so it is slick outside.

I don't know whether to drink some hot chocolate and get ready for the day or go back to the recliner for a few hours. Nah. The recliner just doesn't work for me if I can't recline in it...

    Hot chocolate it is!

I'm doing really well here. my hand is a little achy but nothing I need to take anything for. We'll do homeschool today and tonight begins the delivery of meals. What a blessing!!

    Good Morning Everyone!

This morning we have the battle of weathermen going on. National guy say the ice that is in Texas this morning is going to spread across Louisiana and Mississippi and give Alabama some trouble later tonight or early tomorrow. The local guy says that there is cold air coming down from the Appalaccians and that may give East Alabama some sleet but other wise nothing is going to happen until this weekend and probably not even then. Who to believe? Why my own self of course! :D I stuck my head out the door long enough to start T's truck and discovered that it is cold but it is awfully dry. There wasn't even any frost on the windsheilds. It's going to take some doing to get enough moisture into this air to cause trouble.

Today will be spent trying to find my house from under the rubble of a long weekend followed by a day of work and sick kids. After that, it's church night, so my day will be full.

    Coffee first!

    Good Morning Everybody,

    Ann: Congratulations! That's GREAT news.
Please don' t try to do too much too quick though.

It is 9 degrees here this morning, and No School Again.
Of course, the kids think this is great. They go out and play for awhile, then come in and have lunch, and go back out again.

I watched Today this morning and didn't see any reports of "Rowdy Granny Disrupts Basketball Game", so Sue must have behaved herself.

Same old today. Chores, Chores, Chores. I think I'll let the G-kids pick what they want for dinner tonight, that always help dispel built-up energy.

I brought in Hot Chocolate, Tea, and Coffee with Belgian Waffles with fruit topping of your choice, Bacon and Sausage, and Home-Fried Potatoes. Enjoy.

Time to get to work, the chores don't do themselves.

    Ann,
School starts here the middle of August. In Texas it often starts the first part of August.

    MK,
Stock up!! This is my sixth day inside. And it was 65 degrees last Thursday evening. The ice came so fast!

Couldn't get the above post to edit.

Church is cancelled for tonight. Main roads aren't too bad, but most parking lots are just sheets. It got down to 2 degrees last night. We had water dripping from faucets and cabinet doors open.

    FOG,
I would never be able to let people pick without a major grocery shopping trip. You must have some pantry to be able to do such a variety of things.

Ug, I'm stocked except for milk. We're out of milk despite my buying 2 gallons on Friday. We're always out of milk. Other things I keep stocked pretty regular as it doesn't do in this house to running out of things! Luckily our power lines are buried so we rarely lose power. If we do we have natural gas logs that we already use for most of our heat and the grill is natural gas too. So long as I can boil coffee and toast bread and hotdogs, we'll be fine.

    I just don't like ice!

Rob, I've been trying to get my chores to do themselve all morning, but doggone it, you seem to be right! I have to get up from this computer!

    Good Morning Everybody,

I'm just taking a quick break. The dishes and laundry are done, and the housecleaning is almost done, * PHEW *

You're right MK, unfortunately chores don't do themselves.

Actually, I was hedging my bets with the G-kids picking their own meal. They saw a McDonald's ad on TV and wondered if they could have that for dinner. I said okay.
    * SNIFF * I just have to face it, my cooking isn't as good as Mickey D's. :tear:

Fortunately, the G-kids only like about 3 or 4 of my dishes, so if I give them their choice I have a 1 in 4 chance of guessing what they'll want. Yes, I keep my pantry stocked, but I bet it doesn't have anything in it you don't have in yours.

To be perfectly honest with all of you, I don't make anything that you can't make, and I can't make it as well as you would if you tried. I am just a cook that likes to try new recipes, and is incredibly lucky. Your meals are much better than mine, and I would be honored to try any of them. I'll try them but I can't duplicate them.

Take a bow Ladies, you've earned it, and you deserve it.

Time to finish the housecleaning, and make lunch. Sloppy Joe Squares [for the G-kids] and Buffalo Chicken Enchaladas with Creamy Ranch Sauce for us.
