So you can make a snowman.

So you can learn to shovel without hurting your back.

So you can learn to drive in it.

So you can go sledding and tubing.

So the kiddies can have fun and enjoy the magic of winter.

So you can walk in the evening when there is NO sound outside but the lightly falling snow (I LOVE THAT!!)

I could just step into that last pic, Jim. It is sooo beautiful! My girl dogs would love it too. Alabama just wasn't made for dogs built for subzero temps!

Jon-Marc, I understand where you are coming from. This hillbilly was actually born in Detroit and knows all about snow drifts, shoveling and temps so cold that the pond froze solid enough for us kids to skate on every winter!

I didn't miss the snow for years, till I figured out that snow means something entirely different in the south! :D Here we can custom order our snow and hey, if we don't like it, tomorrow the weather will change and we'll get something all new to not like! And that is after we get a free day off work/school to do absolutely nothing.

Jim - How absolutely beautiful is that picture?? THAT is what I'd LOVE to have!!! Put me on my horse and let us take a quiet walk down the trail, and I'd be absolutely thrilled. Ahhhh - that picture honestly made me feel so peaceful!

Ann, I know you would adore this area for riding alone. At the top of that photo one takes a 90 degree into the woods, travel through 15 acres of hardwood on a groomed trail. At the end there is another laneway going right to the back of 100 acres. Along the way jumping gates are installed in every pasture.... a rider's delight,,at least it was mine for many years.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Sorry so many of you are having bad weather. I was talking with my dad in KS and he said it was snowy and 16 degrees.

It got up to 59 here in southern PA today :p

    Hello Jim,

This weather thing is the first for thos winter...quite unusual for the Great White North. I am longing to see some snow tomorrow and get the snowblower working. I spent a lot of time visiting in Easton, Pa, and what they didn't get in snow they made up with icy roads.......I'll have the snow, than you very much......

Cheers, and welcome to this thread,

    Jim too

    Hello everybody!

Boy, I hope y'all don't sneeze on my monitor! It scares my DH when I get sick. Compromised immune system and all. Now that I think about it, I don't like it much either!

Does anybody know what I did with my little microwave heating pad? I don't think I've seen it since we moved here 2 1/2 years ago!
It sure would feel good on my back right about now.

Rob, glad to hear you enjoyed going to Church today!

Sue and Helen, please get better soon.
Ann, how did you hurt the carpal-tunnel hand? Did I miss something?

    Good morning all,

It is 32º with a winter weather advisory out until noon. We're supposed to get some more of that freezing 'stuff' along with some snow.

I have a consultation appointment with an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist this morning. He is from out of town. He will then set up an appointment in Springfield (about 70 miles round trip) so he can put me in the 'dizzy' chair and figure out why this dizziness has hung around for months and hopefully get rid of it.

Today is laundry and ironing day. I sure wish 'permanent press' meant permanent press. I'm having to iron Brent's long-sleeved oxford shirts for school every week. I guess I should invest in some expensive ones, but I really don't want to do that right now - as fast as he's growing and changing sizes...

Same with his twill pants. He went from a slim to regular, to a husky, back to a regular, and now he's back in slims. He was wearing a size 10 when he moved in with me. Now he's in a 16 and still growing up, up, and up!

My sneezing has stopped and the coughing is not quite as bad either. I'm beginning to wonder if it is allergies. I got one of those "Scent Stories" by Febreeze for Christmas. The first time I used it was Saturday afternoon and the coughing and sneezing started Saturday night. I left it shut off all day yesterday and the symptoms slowed way down. Hmmmm. Maybe if I put it in a different room.

    Time for hot chocolate!

It's just been an ongoing thing for years. It started with me holding the babies and with me working and playing on the computer so much, it's just gotten to the point that my right hand can no longer even hold a cup of coffee. I don't mind the pain or numbness but the strength worries me because you NEED your hand strength AND I train a horse and he's a big boy. If I can't handle him, I'm in big trouble. So, I finally folded and decided to do the surgery. What's such a blessing is that the doctor is a dear friend and I know that God is guiding him and he will pray together with me before the surgery. :love2: I am a little nervous about the recovery - not the pain but how long it will take to get back to 'normal' and if I will get the strength back. My friend seems to think so and I'm trusting that God can do it. So, tomorrow I go under the knife - I go in at 8:30 AM so should have surgery around 10, I think. I'll post when I get home. :D

Today is a day to just finish cleaning the house. I have all the sheets in the washer now and will do the pillows and comforters next. Yeah - I feel like I'm nesting!! ROTFL!! But knowing it will be atleast 2 weeks of me not being able to use my hand makes me want to get as much done today as I can.

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 28 degrees outside, and everything is covered in ice. Happily though, no snow yet, and we never lost power.

I was trying to be nice when I suggested the aromatherapy, and the hot tea.

Yes Ann, I was a licensed Mortician for 35 years. Nice to see I haven't lost my touch - I do the same thing here that I used to do at work - put a smile on women's faces.

I brought in eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and mini-sticky pecan rolls. Enjoy

Not much to do today, good thing since the roads are a skating rink.

Thanks for all your comments about us going to church yesterday - it sure seemed good.

MK- so you're transplanted from deeetroit, huh? Guess I'll have to start saying Sistah instead.

Why do Women never look natural in a casket? Their mouths are closed.

Anybody that wants snow...I'll send you a glassfull.

Sorry Ann. I just couldn't resist.

If I went to a party and somebody asked what I did for a living, I'd tell them I was in the fruit business...Bury Boxes.

Who says undertakers can't have fun?

Hey, the weatherman told the truth. SO far we have six plus inches of snow, strong winds, and it is climbing.......guess I get to run the snowblower for sure to-day. Well, it is winter, isn't it!

Cheers, see you when the snowman gets back,

    Jim

Rob, my dad owns a pest control company, and he likes to tell people that he's a hired killer.

Forecast for tomorrow is rain with some sleet mixed in. Yuck! I hope we don't get an ice storm.

    Have a good day!

FoG, I WISH you had a sense of humor! You are just the most sober, saddest person I know....NOT!

Silver world here this morning. Temps about 28 and hoar frost covering every branch , every blade.

OK, one day of being a hypochondriac in bed is enough for me! I decided that was enough. I'm sure my body will catch up with me later, but this morning I got my act together anyway! Got up at seven, got the wood stove cleaned out and a fire going, fed the parakeets and guinea pig (Faith, Hope, Grace, and Charlie Wiggles, respectively...), cleaned up the den, took a shower and cleaned the bathroom when I was done, went out to the barn, fed the horses, carried warm water into their water buckets to thaw them out, cleaned the stalls, fed and let out the chickens...
And I'm sitting here with a hot cuppa and it's still not even ten a.m. yet!

I'll finish this tea and get a head start on dinner and get the floors vacuumed out in front. Barry just got up and is getting Chris for me and will feed our fish in the fish tank. Last count we had 25 animals here! It's fun and yes, I'm feeling much better. Thanks, Annsni, for your hugs.

Have some correspondence to catch up with today -- some Christmas letters I want to respond to and write Barry's sister back in Australia. She is recovering so well from her acute porphyria attack over a year ago -- much better than the doctors ever thought she would. She can walk without a walker for short distances now and the feeling appears to be coming back, at least partially, into her hands. She has really been fighting this thing and that is incredible. Remember she is epileptic and a high functioning autistic along with the porphyria. She is a real character, but also a strong Christian and we are proud of her.

OK, that's about it. God bless you all.

Sue, take care, OK? If this is allergies, would a hepa filter help in your house?

Leave it Helen to make me feel entirely lazy and unmotivated with all she accomplished before 10 am and here I sit not even dressed for the day at 1 pm!

I have accomplished something though. I accomplished sleeping until 9:30, drinking a pot of coffee with T and calling microsoft to see what they plan to do about our X-box 360 that suddenly decided it didn't want to work anymore. I also discovered that we haven't done a good enough job keeping up with reciepts here lately and I still can't find the one reciept I was looking for. I did dream about all the places it could be hiding last night.

Supposedly I'm sewing today. We'll see how much I actually do.

I have to figure out something for dinner since I forgot T was going to be off tonight when I planned this week's menu. There is plenty of food, but what do I want to cook? I can't just extend what I had planned for me and the kids cause it's too high in carbs for T. I'm thinking I'm going to grill some chicken and have a salad. That'll probably work!

Ya'll have a good day. I'm going to see what else is going on and then get to the sewing machine!
