Hey, MK, at least you know how to sew! I sewed a little about 33 or 34 years ago. Then, as the kids came, my very unaccomplished sewing turned to mending. Then I figured out that if I left the unmended stuff long enough, they'd grow out of it anyway!

So good for you. Your day today is much more like a lot of my days! So let me boast about this morning. It has to last a week of normalcy!

Now I think I'll go polish all the brass, dust the driveway, and clean the gutters.

Or maybe just bake some bread. That would smell good on such a cold day!

Mmmm! I vote for baking bread!

I'd love some, but home made yeast bread is bad for the migraine children. Their's is the only diet I've even seen that approves of store bought over processed bread!

You see it's been 20 minutes and I still haven't made it off the computer and on to the sewing machine. And I'm getting paid for today's work!

    Good morning all,

Well, I saw the specialist and it was NOT just for a consultation as I had been led to believe.

I received a Liberatory Maneuver. That's where they make you dizzy on purpose (like I need any help) and hopefully all those little 'thingies' floating around in my inner ear that are floating in the wrong direction got 'righted'.

Anyway, I am in a neck brace until Wednesday afternoon. I cannot lay down or look from side to side, or up and down. I have to turn my whole body to do ANYthing! I feel like a robot!

I have to sleep in the recliner at a 45º angle for the next two nights. Then for the next five nights, it's on the couch on my right side.

I can hardly believe how hard it is to do so many things without bending the neck. I think I'm gonna have to tape some 2x4's on each side of my head to keep it upright tonight...

Speaking of funny ways to describe your job. When I was a School Crossing Guard, I told people I stood on the street corner with a red light.

Take care all - will get back here when I can.

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Beautiful but dangerous, no not women...ice.

We have downed power lines and trees all over the county, with more ice on the way. Ooooy Ve!

Has anybody heard anything from Sue since this morning?

I know Helen, I should learn to brighten up,and smile more. You mean you can't picture me in a black suit, white shirt, and black tie?

Morticians are human too, and the emotional toll of the work can be tremendous. We deal with every day what most people deal with maybe onece every 15 yrs. or so.
I always told my people that the day it doesn't bother you anymore is the time to get out of the business.

    Time to get supper ready.

Ohhh, there you are. Sorry Sue. I forgot to look up.

Where's my mind? to tell you the truth...I don't know. Of all the things I've lost it's my mind I miss the most.

SUE!!! Good gravy, lady! I tell you to take care of yourself and get better and look what happens! OK, from now on please go break a leg, OK? Seriously, you are in my prayers. You were as I was kneading the bread a bit ago, too.

I guess life is just too boring for you and you had to go and make it a little more interesting, right?

FoG -- I have wondered how morticians manage. I don't think that is a job I could handle. God bless you. You do have a great sense of humor, though. By the way, head up to the humor forum and check out the "Try Jesus" thread. I think there are some 't-shirts' there you will enjoy...

Time to go get the bread.

    Hellooooo from the Frozen North,

We have over an inch of ice on the ground, and it's now snowing on top of that.[ I know Sue...I'm preaching to the choir with you. ]

The kids had today off from school for a holiday, but if we get hit with this, I doubt they'll have school tomorrow either.

We have been watching a large tree next door to us have it's branches fall and crash from the ice.
FYI - No, it doesn't take much to entertain us.

Praying everybody stays safe and well. :praying:

Ann - Praying that your surgery is successful, your pain is nil, and your recovery is quick.

Time to get the G-kids bedtime snack is ready. Tonight is Cocoa Meringue Kisses, and Coconut-Almond Biscotti.

Uh! And just how did you manage to not open your oven door for 2 whole hours whilst the meringue cookies dried out? I've wanted to try them for ages since I love meringue, but there is no way my kids would leave the oven door alone.

What did I just say? Did I say I wanted to cook? NOoooooo! Rob, you've went and infected me! What I really meant to say was that I've wanted T to try making meringue cookies for the longest time. That way I can have my cookies and eat them too! :D

Well I managed to hem 6 pairs of pants, take in three of them and replace one zipper in another pair. And I cooked supper. :D That is enough to do for one day. I'm about crawl off to bed.

Sue, don't you just love it when they surprise you with "treatments"? It will be worth it when it works I'm sure. I can't imagine being dizzy all the time. With my low blood pressure, I'd probably just drop into a faint! That would be convenient!

Rob, give it up buddy. You are going to have kids tomorrow. I don't believe the plows can do much with ice. They still don't know what is going to happen here. They think most of the rain will pass before the worst of the cold gets here. What is actually happening may be a different story though.

My friend and I were talking and she was telling me that the temps were going to drop. I got to thinking, that even though the dogs seemed happy and content, I'd go ahead and put up in the garage cause I certainly didn't want to have to deal with them at midnight (projected time of arrival of cold air). Cass and I went out in our bare feet with short sleeves and woke the poor dogs up to move them in. They gave us the "you gotta be kidding" look, cause they don't want in unless they are drowning or freezing and both conditions are relative to whether or not we'll let them roam the neighborhood.

30 minutes later, T comes in with the other two from karate. Of course they hadn't bother with shoes or jackets either. The temp had dropped so much in that bit of time that Jenna came in and said she needed to thaw out! It's down to 45 degrees. I figure that is about a twenty degree drop. Brrr!

Let us know how it goes when you can, Annsni. Our prayers are with you. God bless you BIG!

Yeah, Jim, read about that one the news. That was some storm! I know you are not where it was, but I know you are in snow. Take care...

FoG, please take care walking on that mess. By the way, a real easy recipe for coconut merangues: whip up two egg whites with a dash of salt and a bit of vanilla until soft peaks form. Add one-third cup of sugar and whip until stiff. Fold in 2/3 cup of shredded coconut and drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 for about 20 minutes and let cool a bit before removing them. They are light and yummy.

MK, maybe you don't feel you did much today, but I'm impressed! You have no idea how much I dread mending, even!

Sue, how is your neck going? Been thinking about you and praying. Your plate is sure full, dear sister.

Good morning all - I guess...

It was a very short restless night. I'm amazed at how limited I am with just the addition of a neckbrace to my body!

Needless to say, I didn't sleep well sitting vertically in a recliner that I wasn't allowed to recline! I finally gave up trying at 3:30a.m. and just got up.

Thanks for the prayers, Helen. My plate is full, but my cup overfloweth. Actually, it flowed all over my blouse. Ever try to swallow with your "Eve's Apple" pushed in? I gave up and loosened the brace long enough to eat. Even then I had to raise the plate up so I could see what I was eating 'cause I can't bend my neck.

Well, I'm certainly not going to be doing anything interesting today except try to doze off and on and watch reruns on TV.

I do so want to go see Brent play basketball tonight! Brent said he could put a chair up for me at one end of the court so I wouldn't have to keep turning from right to left to see what was going on. With my luck, I'll probably fall off the chair.

I tend to get carried away (and a tad rowdy - nicely) when one of my sons or grandsons are playing. Tonight, I will have three grandsons on the court. Thank goodness they're all on the same team!

Time for hot chocolate - you serving this morning, Rob? :saint:
§ue (an accident waiting to happen)

    P.S.
Briony: Please blow some hot air my way too. It is 10ºF here right now!

 I wanna see Sue being rowdy!

We are at a grand high of 35 this morning! I hope it stays cold for a while or I'm going to have to reopen my swimming pool. It's been warm enough that I can see the green algae growing on the bottom. The cold will kill if it stays cold enough long enough. If not, I'll be hunting pool chemicals in January!

The rain that was supposed to come with the cold evidently got lost, cause there was not a drop to found this morning. They are warning us about freezing rain now for Thursday. I won't hold my breath!

Speaking of breath, poor Chris got up all congested this morning. Weather+cold=migraine He's all doctored up and at school this morning but again, I'm not holding my breath that he'll be able to stay.

I have to WORK today. I can't believe I'm saying that as I haven't worked in almost two years! My friend who the bridal/pageant shop has to take her son to have some teeth removed today, so I got tapped to substitute. I asked her did she know what she was doing cause me and teenage attitudes don't always get along and it's the middle of pageant season! Ya'll might better pray!

    Ya'll have a good day!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 15 outside and we have the ice covered by snow. All the roads are like skating rinks, and yes, the schools are closed for a second day.

LOL MK, My G-kids know that if they disturb the cooking it won't get done, and then their treats don't happen. They look thru the glass on the oven door.

Sue, of course I'll make the hot chocolate. I understand what your docs are trying to do by stabilizing your head with the neckbrace, but it would have been nice to have had a little warning.

Helen: thanks for the merangue recipe, I'll try that. Don't worry I'm not going out in this nightmare. I'll stay snug like a bug in a rug in front of my fireplace.

Cindi: Listen to me, this is very important. Step away from the kitchen, do not touch any of the utensils, they are your enemy. Sewing and your family, and dogs are your only friends. This sounds like a temporary relapse, You can do this MK! (1)Take three deep breaths,(2) turn on you heel,(3) and quickly remove yourself from the infected area. With your extreme sensitivity to cooking we only have time for a 3-step program not a 12.

I brought in Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Toasted Homemade Bread, with Homemade Jams. Enjoy.

    Time to do the chores.

All this talk of cold, snow and ICE make me glad to be living almost in Florida!

We're getting a forecast of highs in the upper 40s to low 50s and lows mid-30s to low-40s starting tomorrow.

I will go next Tuesday to get the blood test, and see the Dr the 30th for results on that nasty tumer-marker. Depending on what is happening, he may want me to start on Xeloda, a chemotherapy pill. The thought of that is not very appealing.

Snow is falling as I type. Beautiful, but the problem is we have a lot of new people in this town who don't know how to drive in it, so there are skidding accidents all over the place. Barry went down to make a bank deposit and that's it. Today was supposed to be errand day but that can wait. We are warm and have water and there is enough food in the house. The generator got hooked up last week so everyone is safe here.

Please, all, remember to pray for Annsni who is in surgery for carpal tunnel today. I had the same surgery last summer and it is not a walk in the park.

    God bless you all.

Watching snow fall is hypnotic. Why is that? It's easy to sit by the window and just watch it coming down. And keep watching....
