My oh my. One moment in fine health and only joy, the next . . . We shall pray.

Another beautiful day here in Casper. About 11:00 am and 60F. Some leaves are turning as the harbingers of fall are evident. Busy packing and loading, then run late afternoon to the office for orders, banking, etc etc before I leave town again.

Seems like I just got back!

Note: Would ask your prayer and remembrance for me as I take off in the wee hours tomorrow for Las Vegas (checking on some details for a future mission trip - seriously) and then to LaLa to see my son's new home and play with Christian and Austin.

Should return by Thursday next week.

Well, we have had an interesting afternoon. Several folks are insisting that I not stay here during the storm. (Hubby's in Mexico, but I would rather stay here in our nice sturdy parsonage.) I even had one woman tell me that I HAVE to go with them to Memphis. And onether tell me that I WILL be riding the storm out with her (down her dirt road.) I think its very nice that people are looking out for us, but the thing is, I want to be able to get back home. I know there will be a lot of debris in the road, and its possible that the road will be blocked. Also, the girls and I are sick, and I dont want to take it to someone else's home. So, I really don't know what I'm gonna do. But, I will figure it out, and I will make sure my munchkins are safe.
Oh, and to make matters more complicated, a church member died today, and I have no way to let my husband know. He calls when he can get to a phone. The last time he went on a mission trip (in July) someone died and he had to fly home for the funeral. I dont know if thats an option this time b/c of where he is and the storm.
So, another day in the saga of my life...

You and your sweet family will definitely be in my prayers. While I do have some kin in Baton Rouge, we are up in the northeast part of Louisiana, so most all we'll get is lots of rain and maybe some strong winds. All my older kin live over in Brookhaven, but they've weathered storms before.

Lea, I'm in Georgia, due west of Atlanta by 35 miles and 24 miles from the Ala. border so no real problems here.

We sure hope you'll be safe Tater Tot! Do head for safety. I was born and raised in Mobile so know the effects of a storm. Blackbird's wife is alone too with her children. :(

    Good morning all:

I haven't heard anything about Courtney since I talked to her mother yesterday afternoon, so I am assuming her status has not changed. Kathi said she would call if there was anything new to report...

It is 70º here this morning with 94% humidity, heading for a high of 87º with a small chance of rain.

Bobby came back from Kansas last night so I have my three 'menfolk' to take care of again. Dale has the studs and sheetrock on the walls in the new bedroom in the basement. Next is the drywall for the ceiling, then mudding and painting. The outlets and wires for a ceiling light are in place. We're hoping to get Bobby in there this week. Of course, we have to find a used twin bed first! I am going to put an ad on www.freecycle.com this morning.

Hi All, Gina... you are so right.

Gayla and the children left about 10:00 a.m. and are heading into some stormy weather. Hope they make it before the weather gets too bad.

Jim took Rob and Sheila (FollowingHim) to Lifeway Christian Stores where she found the book she'd been looking for. We were going to get Jim1999 to find it for us if all else failed. She was looking for 'He Chose Twelve' and it was 'out of stock' online. Now Jim's dropped them at the mall and I'll pick them up before 2:00 so I have plenty of time to pick up the afterschool children.

Tonight is church of course and Rob and Sheila are excited about attending our Prayer Meeting. They'll get to see the inside of our building. We've driven past the outside. They'll also get to meet some of my little Cubbie Friends. Rob and She are both so devoted to children and the children can tell they are loved. Rob's helped Nick with some experiments and work and Sheila and I have done some craft and recipe sharing. All in all.... it feels like 'family'... but GOOD family. [IMG]

Here's a small photo of the 3 of us ladies taken today and then you can click for a larger one.

I'm the old one. [IMG] It's Gayla on top, Sheila in the middle and then me at the bottom of the stairs.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHEILA

I love that picture Diane thank you so much for sharing. I hope that they miss the Bad weather. From what I can tell it's heading straight your way. I was watching the news and they said there were 36ft waves a few hundred miles out to sea

In other news, Janolin is back in school today. Still with a cough but, feeling much better. Anyway, i'm going to hop around the board and think about what to do next.

    See you guys later !!!

Thank you to you all for your birthday wishes.
We are having a lovely time here with Jim, Diane and Nick. We have been made very welcome and we are so glad to have the opportunity to be able to be here and have such wonderful Christian fellowship. It was so good to see Gayla too with her children and we hope to hear soon that she has arrived home safely.
We leave tomorrow to fly back to North Carolina and then we fly back to the U.K. on Friday evening, arriving back home on Saturday morning.
I hope everyone is ok and I will catch up with the posts soon.

    God Bless

    Hello,

Diane and Sheila, we made it home at about 3:30, with 1 long (about an hour) and 1 short stop (to pump a little gas in the tank). [called and left a message on the machine.] It was a good visit.
The only moisture was some short sprinkles from the south side of Atlanta to Macon. Praise the Lord! It's just cloudy over the whole state of Georgia. :D

gotta get off here and get ready for church.

Just got home from church and it is POURING rain! Lightning is flashing and thunder is rolling and GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!

Very good service tonight and I have a PRAISE REPORT about Courtney!

I talked to her mother right before leaving for church and Courtney is out of ICU! She is still not able to speak, but she is WALKING!!!

Her mother and the doctors are calling it a MIRACLE!

Please continue praying that she will regain her speech. I feel peace about this and feel that she will be back to normal in no time.

    PRAISE THE LORD!

Hi All! Sue!! Wonderful News! Praise the Lord!

We're just in and settling for the night! Rob and Sheila went to the mall this afternoon and then I picked them up just before going to the two schools for the children. It was raining so many parents were in line. It got home extra late, had to help 4 children with their homework, cook for the 6 children plus us adults and then got the dreaded 'Can't teach Cubbies tonight because my child is sick'. Loaded them all up, dropped two at their home and then off to church. We went to Wal-Mart after church and found it PACKED. Two men bumped into each other and almost fought over it.

So... school has been cancelled for tomorrow and maybe Friday because of the storm. We're very concerned that Rob and Sheila will get stranded in Atlanta and miss their Friday flight back to England. I wouldn't mind them staying!! Just don't want them to lose money! [IMG]

What else? Oh well.... I was able to call on several moms to help us out and we had two teen girls and a dad to help with listening and bookwork for our Cubbies so the night went really well. Sheila and Rob then got to meet our Hispanic Ministers wife.. LOL... who couldn't understand them or ME when we were talking about the hurricane. We all pronounced it differently.

    FUNNY THING!

The first day Sheila and Rob were here and I went to pick up the children I reminded the kids of our British visitors. One 9 year old asked.. 'Do they say Ta Ta, Cheerio Old Chap' and I replied that they did have a different accent than us and used words like 'torch' for flashlight. WELL later that afternoon, Brooke (5) asked Sheila to 'say cereal'. We finally figured out that she wanted her to say 'Ta Ta, Cheerio'. LOLOLOL At supper tonight, Brooke said to Sheila ... 'Y'all shore do tawlk funny'.

And with that.... I'm off to bed! Only 5 hours sleep LAST night and Ty will be here in 6 hours PLUS I'll have all the children since there is no school!

We're planning a 'hurricane party' tho. Nick and I have quite the ideas. Track the storm...., make pinwheels...., punch, veggies, snacks galore and we even have a Christian movie about a storm (McGee and Me).

Do pray Rob and Sheila are able to fly safely. I'm concerned since the major portion is to hit late afternoon and their flight out of here is after 5 p.m.

    Night all... Cereal!

    Diane

WOW, Sue! Praise the Lord! That little one sounds like she's doing just fine!

Batten the hatches, Diane. "Twister and Shout" - one of my favorite McGee movies. It's the only one where he doesn't get THAT Nick into trouble.

    Stay safe and dry, all.

    Good morning all:

It looks like OUR rain has stopped but we got several inches while it lasted! It is going to be cooler today also - so off goes the A/C!

I am still rejoicing over the good news about Courtney! When they got to the ER Monday night, the first nurse they saw asked Kathi if she could pray for Courtney. PTL!!!

Today is not very busy (other than usual house chores), but tommorow will be VERY busy with Brent going to the Urologist and Dale's birthday!

I wake Brent and Bobby up at 6:30 and I have been sleeping in until around 6:00, so I don't get much posting done in the early morning anymore.

I will be back on later today though. Have a blessed day everyone!
