It is pouring rain here right now and dark enough to be evening! The kids aren't happy! :( I expect it to be like this for just about a half hour, then according to the radar, it'll go back to nice and bright and HOT!

C4K, did ya'll import a cool spell from Iceland??? Ya almost have to wear a sweater at that temp. :D

Anyone here like figs? My folks and one of my "sister" both have trees that are loaded! I hate to let them go to waste, but we'll only eat a few preserves and I don't know what else to do with them. I found some good recipies but they either want fresh figs or dried(a few want preserves). Fresh will bo okay now, but I don't have a dehydrator to put them up for this winter. Not to mention I've never tried drying anything! Anyone have any experience drying fruit?

It's 83° and a white sky right now and our Sentricon guy is doing his Sentricon thingy (checking stations, etc.) I've offered him a soda but he says not til he's finished. [IMG]

I hope we get that storm Cindi but the radar shows it south and north of Atlanta and not near us.

I slept SO well. FedEx rang our door bell at 9:45 and WOKE ME UP! I don't have children again until Monday at 10:15. [IMG] I'm cleaning in spurts. Start a floor, wait for it to dry. Put in a load, wait for the dryer to finish.

We've got a few plans for tomorrow. I have a 7 foot long dining table (extra wide too) that was built by my late step father in the early 1980's when I had all the little ones. My eat in kitchen (no dining room) is just too small for it, but it IS solid wood. The top got ruined in storage. Moisture somehow got under the polyurethane and it popped off like veneer. We're thinking of cutting it down on each end and then refinishing the top. My little cheap farmer type table we bought at K-Mart when we moved here is just too small for home schooling and all the daycare kids. Some nights I feed them AND us and we have to eat in shifts. Since it should be cool tomorrow, seems like a good day for sanding and sawing. [IMG] We'll see how Jim feels. He's been wanting to try!

    Humidity lifted here, praise God!

Looks like a nice night, but there may be a thundershower. Goin' to a potluck at the preacher's. In our case that means assorted Puerto Rican dishes plus whatever other folks bring. Rather unique.

    Fig preserves!?!! YUMMY!!!!!!!!!

Haven't had (home made) preserves made from Fresh figs in a long time! I'll sometimes buy some at te Farmer's Market, but thy're almost as over-processed as what the grocery store carries. In a pinch, (think craving) the preserves from the grocery store are pretty good, though.

We've had a steady but gentle rain for hours. Quite pleasant tho. The sky is still white and no thunder.

Under the circumstances, I have decided to withhold the worm report. Gib and Blackbird would LOVE to get the details but I'm not sure the rest of us are up for it!

Good news is.... Aug. 6th the Feed Store has a vet coming who will give puppy shots and deworm for Tape worms all for one low price.

Well I'm tired! All the excitement of the last couple of days has worn me out. I may just have to sleep in tomorrow morning instead of taking the kids to karate like I'm supposed to.

I've got pizza ordered and then once I eat, I'm grabbing the new magazines I bought and heading to bed.

Probably won't make it through the first one before I fall asleep. [IMG]

Jim wanted Chinese tonight. There's a dinky little place downtown Villa Rica that may have 12 tables at the most. The food is good. I had Moo Goo Gui Pan.

I'm really sleepy too but shouldn't be! I slept SO late and Jim isn't working tomorrow. [IMG] Hope we can sleep in and then get some things done.

Monk looks quite funny tonight tho....

What we find in the road where the cows cross. Putting it in a gooey pan ain't going to help it much.

    Good morning all!

I was very busy yesterday approving new members for our local freecycle group. We have gained over 40 from the newspaper article already!

It is going to be in the 80s here today. This weather is pleasant. I think we're going to have an early winter - not good.

I'm having company in a few minutes (from Indiana) ya'll enjoy your day!

    Morning all:

Well, we made it up and back from Louisville, KY and Ky Kingdom! It was a pretty good two days overall. We did have to sit through two major wrecks in Nashville. I65 Northbound was closed for several hours because of a collision and a truck fire that resulted from it. We sat in traffic for nearly three hours. And no sooner had we gotten through than half a mile up on the other side of I65 was closed because of a wreck where one of the cars had rolled several times and was down in the median. It was a mess. We didn't know if anyone was killed there or not.

KY Kingdom was pretty good. I got to meet a lot of Viv's co-workers and they seemed like a good bunch of people. We got our bounce back tickets at about 3:30pm Eastern after eating lunch and then left to come home. It was only a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive. Not too bad. We had a pretty good time overall. It was in the mid to upper 90's there and quite humid.

We decided that I wasn't calling my birth father and family, that we just didn't want the stress. If it was wrong, God forgive me. But, we felt it was the right thing to do for us for a change.

Anyhow, hope ya'll had a great few days while we were gone. I missed being on the computer. I could have been at the motel, but it was $10.95 to use web-tv. NO THANKS! ;)

    Have a great day!

    T

    Good morning Tony and all:

I'm glad you and Viv had a chance to get away for a while and hope you both got some rest!

I haven't had the A/C on for the last few days, but it's going back on this morning. Forecast calls for temps in the mid/high 90s all week with high humidity.

Boy Howdy and Blessed Lord's Day to all. Just stopping by to rejoice in the freedom to preach the Word and fellowship with our little Baptist Church start-up that God has given us.

Good Morning! The last visiting grandchild is on the plane flying home. It will be good to get all the children back where they belong safely. It is such a joy to have them visit.

This is my 16 year old granddaughter who is so much like my daughter who was her aunt. We picked up her from diabetic camp after a three week stay and then we visited with my brother and family and she got to ride horses. Yesterday, we spent the day shopping and visiting with her other grandparents. There is a wonderful resale shop here in town. All the clothes look new and they have name brand clothing at discount prices. All I could find in my size that I liked had to be dry cleaned so I didn't buy anything, but she found lots of tops in her size and some for one of her sisters.
She dresses very modestly, but she still didn't like some of the tops that I did.

Now that I have completed all my summer commitments except taking the two grandchildren that live here to get school supplies, I could take my schedule off the wall and return to the simple monthly schedule.

Blessed Lord's Day to you all!

SS was quiet again this morning. A good half of our kids are in the New Christian class and will be for about the next 3 weeks.(This is good news!)

The Bad Cat is beating a Walmart sack into submission! Rattle, rattle, rattle! She is so funny. The X-box is on top of the entertainment center for lack of a better place to put it. When T and the kids play the controller cords stretch across to the couch and dangle 2-3 feet off the floor. Hairwolf loves to jump for them and has gotten quite good at making the cords unplug from the box. Makes the kids soooo mad cause Dad has a cordless controller and often takes advantage of the situation! :D

Just got back from buying the next to the last stuff Precious needs to start school. I can't believe I've let her get so low on clothes! We almost started from nothing! Some time this pm I've got to sit down at the sewing machine and sew up the three pair of capris I cut out for her last night. The kid won't wear denim or khaki and there isn't much else out there. She better be glad I can sew!
