Yeah well just about time I got those Twilight Zone messages, we lost power until just a few minutes ago! Trucks everywhere! No 'black copters' tho. Georgia Power had 3 trucks going down each 'finger' of our subdivision that heads toward I-20. I'm wondering if some alien spacecraft landed there and took out some lines!

Hey! I need help! The ladies doing extended session for me this Sunday aren't real 'crafty' and want some ideas for easy things to do for 'Noah's Ark'. Our story is 'God Took Care of Noah'.

Sheesh! Somewhere along through last week I had the idea that if I just could hold out till this week things would slow down. NOT!

I was able to get Son's room sorted out before we had to leave for his doctor's appointment. The appointment went pretty well. As I thought, there's nothing to be done about stress triggering the migraines. We just have to treat the headaches as they come. I did learn that one of the meds he has been on can cause stomach upset and/or gastrointestinal can be a part of the migraine process. Son has had a lot of stomach aches lately. We're going to try some zantac to lessen the stomach symtoms and leave the other meds the way they are for the time being. We'll revisit the issue in three months. Might have to consult with a gastrointerologist if the zantac doesn't help.

Nothing like having two kids with chronic problems! I'm going to have to make a wall chart so I can keep everyone's medicines straight.

Got home just in time to take the kids to karate. While we were there the skies opened and it POURED! I was reading and kept wondering why the airconditioning kept getting louder and louder. Then I looked up and realized that it was the rain beating on the roof.

Now I'm having a coffee break before starting to sort out Precious' room. I want to get it done cause I have a pile of sewing and embroidery work I need to do tomorrow.

Cindi, do be careful with those tummy pills! Dr. Bob can testify that some can cause life threatening illness if taken regularly!

So..... It rained lightly again tonight and it's nice and cool. Nick's reading a book on 'The Art of Pitching' and Jim's singing downstairs. Jon's working and the cat and dog are both asleep.

I can sleep in again tomorrow. Ty's aunt is having problems delivering a baby and they've stayed in Alabama. Not sure when he'll be back but thankfully that means I might get to sleep past 5:30. The cat and dog don't understand when I don't get up. ;)

    Morning all:

Viv took me to a different neurologist from Vanderbilt University yesterday morning. He looked at my report, my MRI scans and then ran some preliminary tests. He pretty much said the damage was permanent in my lower back, which we pretty much figured to be the case. He said IF the numbness wasn't caused by diabetic neuropathy (which these preliminary tests that he did showed it was) then he might be able to operate and alleviate SOME of the pain in my left leg. If it IS from diabetes, well...I'm in big trouble. It means the diabetes is progressing faster than they thought. I've had four cousins from my birth father's side of the family die from diabetes complications, two kidney, one stroke, and one from neuropathy, by the time they were in their late 40's, but before their 50th birthday.
It's a little unnerving to say the least. So, I have a myeologram on Friday morning at 7am, and then the following Friday a neuro assessment. They have already pretty much said "get ready for wheels"!

It's a humid 70 here this morning already. Supposed to be in the upper 90's with chances for storms again.

Anyhow, I know the Lord is trying to teach me something through all of this. What I do not know. I do know it's hard on Vivian. But, she's a trooper and keeps saying, "We'll live through this...we've lived through worse". And she's right. God is still in control. That may be the lesson I have yet to learn. Sometimes it's hard to relinquish what little "control" we have over our own lives, or that we THINK we have over our own lives.

Anyhow. I am praying for ya'll. God bless you, and give you a great day! [IMG]

Don't worry Diane, I plan to do my research before allowing him to take anything past 3 months. Even giving him the first one yesterday took him complaining for a week for me to give him more than pepto and/or rolaids. I don't like giving such a little kid adult drugs. We haven't had much choice in the matter thus far. The things that have been well tested in kids are few and far between.

Not exactly what you wanted to hear, I know. But somehow I get a vision of you mowing grass by dragging the mower behind you scooter!

Seriously, diabetes is an insidious disease. :( Are you insulin dependent? I've heard some research that claims by the time a diabetic is placed on insulin, the damage to the body is already done. It suggests that perhaps insulin should begin sooner rather than later, especially in diabetics who can't get good control over their sugar levels. (I don't have a link)

T is beginning to have trouble with his feet. I can't get him to go to the doctor and I'm sure it's been months since he checked his sugar. Says he's too busy.....

We've already had a busy day here. I woke up to my band of dogs terrorizing the neighborhood! Finally figured out that someone hadn't closed the end gate properly and they had simply pushed through it. T's off to work, I've run the first load through the dishwasher, have one load of laundry on the line, one in the dryer and another washing. Laundry and sewing will be the chores of the day! I have enough of both to last two days!

Hey Diane! I have a whole bunch of whiny kids I'll be glad to lend you if you're feeling lonely! :D

    Good morning all:

Tony, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Maybe the new tests will yield new (better) results.

The temp will be 94º today, but the humidity was ALREADY at 94% when I got up at 5:00!

This was hubby's 'lab' day. He has been having blood work done, 1-2 times a week, since his surgery so I didn't have time to get on here until now.

The County Fair starts today and it is so humid I simply cannot breathe outside. Tonight is $1.00 night. Admission is free and all of the rides are $1.00 each. Brent is going with his mother and two sisters.

Friday is Senior's Day so I can get in free. If the humidity is low enough, Brent and I will go out in the morning and walk around, look at the exhibits, and eat lunch (delicious, fattening, 'fair food'). Yummmmmmm!

    Time for breakfast,
    §ue

    Tony-we'll be praying for you.

Our a/c is finally back to normal. Actually slept under the covers last night.

We went to the beach Sunday night. A world of difference in the temps. Almost a cool breeze.

Mk, I had to stop taking "Zantac" when it was by prescription only because it made me forget words. I would be talking and totally forget what I was saying. My mind would be blank. I stopped taking the Zantac and the problem went away. I have never heard anyone else have this complaint.

I have known people who take Bentyl several times a day, but if I take just one, it would be impossible for me to drive a car for the "drunk" feeling.

Glad you got your A/C working Gib.

I'm going to paint today. I working on a set of paintings for a teen age girl's room and another set for a nursery.

    I'll check in later.

We had serious rain this A.M. [IMG] Our first since June. We are in the middle of the fire season right now, but I didn't see any news of any starting with all the lightening. Tomorrow the sun is supposed to come out again, and we will be in the upper 80s-low 90s, & dry.

Bro. Curtis, I will take some of your serious rain!

The whole state of Illinois has been declared an 'extreme agricultural drought' area. The government will help the farmers some, but not nearly enough to compensate for their lost crops.

Guess who will be paying more for food this winter? :(

The old saying holds true: "Never talk bad about a farmer with your mouth full".

That is strange, 'cuz when I lived in Illinois I remember the summers being very humid. Almost unbearable. That's really sad. The farmers have my sympathy & prayers.

It's 90 here with 40% humidity. It's already been up to 94 this morning!

MK...If'n I gets me a scooter, I'm gonna tell them that it has to be able to be converted into a riding mower at the push of a button! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sue, Gib, thanks for the prayers and well wishes. I'm hoping this myelogram goes well. It's been a LONG time since I had one done, and it WAS NOT a comfortable procedure if I recall correctly. They said 24-48 hour bed rest laying flat on my back afterwards. YUK! I sleep on my stomach and side. This is going to be SOME trick! ;)

Sue, Mom said the crops up near Pekin are nearly burned to a crisp....Popcorn anyone?!

It is VERY humid, but we have had almost NO rain all summer.

There is a ban on 'watering' in many of our cities. Not many people have green lawns this year and even our gardens went to seed!

This is what our fields look like.

Sue, we know about the "NO RAIN" part. We're far below our average for the year, and many of the creeks and streams are drying up. Even the Stones River is low.

All I can do is offer scripture. This verse keeps echoing in my mind during times of panic...

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Thanks, Bro. Curtis, but I'm not panicking. I know God is still in control.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Well I've gotten next to nothin' done today.

A friend of mine that moved to Florida last year called to say she was in town, so we went to lunch. It was nice to catch up for a bit.

Now I'm going to take Son across town to a friends house for an hour or two and stop by Precious' school. Hopefully I can catch the principal in and discuss Precious' illness with her. Not going to deal with all the fuss over her being absent this year like I did last year.

I wish I could blow some of our rain up ya'lls way. We've had a lot the last two years.

Oh Gracious! So much unsettling news! Tony, I'm VERY sorry to hear this report but do pray and trust in our Lord to take good care of you and Viv.

Cindi, I believe Dr. Bob was on that Prilosec when it was script only and it caused his peripheral neuropathy. Many meds can cause that. :(

Sorry to hear of all the droughts and heat! It's 79° here with a gorgeous breeze! I've got my windows open and ceiling fans going. We're very comfortable.

MacKenzie is sleeping. Nick and Kelsey finished their schooling and are doing a computer game on 'life skills' and 'hints' now. The cat is stretched out in a wing back chair and the puppy is under my chair sleeping. Brayden is starting to fuss a little so he'll need a nap soon. Wish I could nap! Yawn.....

I've got a load of clothes almost finished in the dryer and one in the washer. Tomorrow was to be an 'off day' but the kids mom is having a massage early a.m. to help with relaxation to prevent her migraines so I'll have them but NOT school them.

Thankful, I forget words but it's menopause and not tummy pills because I don't ever have tummy aches unless I eat black pepper.

Tony, after my heart cath, I had to lay perfectly still for 4-5 hours (yea, right  ). My bum went numb. I don't envy you at all. Can they give you something to relax?
