COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #85

AVL1984

Gayla, Vivian works 4 days, 10 hours per day unless they need her for OT. That's usually on Friday and Saturday...on rare occasions, Sunday. She used to work second shift, but she went to first after I went disabled. Glad she did it too, though we could use the extra $$ per hour shift differential. But, we seem to get more done during the day when she's working days.

Good morning all:

It was starting to get foggy this morning and a warmer 68 degrees. But, it was comfortable. We are supposed to have rain and thundershowers tonight. I hope this won't affect our kids at church, since they meet outside in Sister Tif's back yard.

We found a facility that we may be able to use for the church. Several members have gone by it, and they feel that it will probably work if the Lord works out all of the kinks and details. I believe He will. He's been so good to us so far, and I believe HE will continue to bless.

I didn't sleep well last night. Don't know why, but I woke up with one side of my body all numb. It was a really strange feeling. It took about 30 minutes before I was able to use my left side at all. But, I seem to be okay right now. This is the second time it's happened in the last week.

Well, ya'll have a great day! Be good, be kind, be careful.

Good morning all:

It is 68º here also, but the humidity is 100º! I turned the A/C off last night because it is only supposed to get to 80º today. I hope I don't have to turn it back on to be able to breathe!

I did laundry yesterday, today I need to vacuum and mop the kitchen and bathroom. I'm not used to having four people living here. It makes a difference...

Cruising,

A thunderstorm boomed through about 5:30, tore up some limbs and cut off the electricity. No light, no AC, NO COMPUTER. (That was especially trying because I had got up early to get some work done.)

LOL rsr! If for some reason I don't have internet access for longer than five minutes, I feel like I've lost a part of me! What'd we do before computers????

Morning everyone!

How'd your furniture moving go yesterday Sue? I didn't seem to get a lot done myself, but what I did get done made a big difference. You can walk in the upstairs hall again!

Today I have to stop the deep cleaning long enough to sort clothes. A certain little seven year old decided she needed to dump everyone clothes baskets out so she could use them to make hurdles out of. I threatened to make her sort them all out, but decided that wasn't something she is capable of and I just have to resort anyway. So she got to sort out the dirty laundry instead( much easier job).

When I get that job taken care of, I have to go sort out Precious' clothes. I know I thought the floor was a perfectly acceptable place for clothes when I was her age, but for some reason I just don't think so any more! I know she has no clue what she even has up there and you can't even walk through the room. I can't clean her carpet till I can see it and waiting for her to pick it all up would take years!

If I get all that done(minus the carpet cleaning) I'll be glad to get to sit in the doctor's office this pm with Son. Poor Son still has this headache but also says his face hurts. I just bet we'll get a sinus xray today and another round of antibiotics. Might get a nice round of steroids too. I'm not sure what's worse, Son's attitude when he is sick(whiny) or his attitude when he's on steroids(ill hornet).

On top of that I still have to get T's tires put on today, if they ever come in! Yesterday they got in the wrong tire and today they close at noon! T is not going to be happy if they don't get put on today. He doesn't like driving my car. (I don't like driving his either)

That reminds me, I got gas yesterday at $2.69 a gallon!

The first time that my computer crashed and I didn't have internet service, I realized just how "hooked" I was. The house was so very silent. It was as if all my friends had deserted me. I decided that I needed to develop some other interests.

Let's see that was about 10 years ago.

Well humph! I've spent all morning waiting on T's truck to fixed and have gotten nothing done in the house! I did have a nice visit with my best friend.
Her house is much closer to the garage so I waited there.

I'm hooked on the computer too, or I'd be up sorting those clothes in the hour I have left before Son's appointment instead of sitting here complaining about it!

A bit of good news in the mail today....The new health insurance coverage came in the mail today. It's not going up for a change this year(last year there was a $100 a month increase) and the prescription coverage has changed so that there is no longer a deductible. There is a slight increase in the copays of brand name and offlist drugs, but that won't affect most of what we take. Even then, I can handle it better spread throughout the year than all at once in January as it has been. There has only been one year that I can remember when I didn't have to come up with the entire deductible in January, because that is our sick month.

I see a few new "posters" have made their way into the best coffee house in the world! Well, my time is about up at the internet cafe I am at so everyone take care.

I read so many posts and every day someone is cleaning house. I wonder sometimes if we don't fret too much about a little dust and disarray and miss so much of living. I just can't get that excited about trying to please someone else. Maybe I am just too old.

Five dogs live here indoors and they all lose hair all over the place. The most hoovering we do is on the dogs themselves.

Take care and take time to enjoy life.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Shawna!

Jim, you are so right. I can remember fretting about all the housework when my children were little. I don't think I missed much. We played together alot, but there was still the cooking, the laundry, the dishes to wash.

Right now, I'm trying to decide what to cook for supper.

I do think that age makes us appreciate the small stuff and not worry about pleasing others.

Hiya Shawna! It's good to see you posting again!

I don't 'fret' about the dust. If I did, I would get nothing DONE but 'fretting'. With two grandsons living here now, it is more work just cooking, doing dishes, and laundry.

If the baseboards are dusty, I'm not going to worry about it.

If someone wants to visit ME they are welcome anytime.

If someone wants to come and see if my HOUSE is clean. They need to make a reservation three weeks in advance or pay admission!

I agree, Jim! I am single so have no one to please except me, and still have a lady who comes in every other week to clean. I've been laughed at by friends, but I just don't like to clean, and it frees up my time to do other things! I've had her for about 5 years now, and I absolutely LOVE it! I used to mop the kitchen floor when my feet stuck to it because I really didn't see the need since no one is here except me! Now the place is dusted, vacuumed, and mopped regularly, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! It's my treat to myself!

Hi Shawna! Heard you've been rather busy with a little roofing project!

CJ, I agree about the cleaning lady. The College student that cleans my house will graduate next year. What am I going to do? Wonder if I can have her train a college freshman to take her place!

There's no other way to know, but it was an icky feeling. That's why I have someone come in and do it every other week...she takes care of it whether it needs it or not!

Jim1999: I am SO enjoying the quotes and little sayings by Laura Ingalls Wilder! Thanks again for recommending it!

Ladies, I can keep the house clean (at least in the middle). It's the deep cleaning, washing baseboards, windows, etc., that I just never seem to get done.

I am ready for my bed. I don't know why I'm so tired tonight, but I am!

The car goes to the garage in the morning as soon as I get done at the corner. I'm hoping it will be done before noon.

Pleasant dreams all!

I thought that was what furniture was for,,to cover those things...Cuts painting time in half.

Cheers,

Jim

Morning all:

I know just how ya'll feel about the dust, and cleaning. I try and keep the house as clean as I can, but I can't always get to the little stuff like baseboards, etc. I just tell people it was the "maid's century out"! That usually get's a laugh and is usually a good ice-breaker.

It's 69 here and becoming foggy. The sky is clear, but we're supposed to have rain soon. I can feel it in my back and legs and at times, even in my hands.

I finally got the "monkey" of Midland Baptist Church off my back yesterday. I went in and transferred the domain names to them, set up a yahoo email account for them and made the necessary changes to the accounts and then forwarded the instructions on how to get a lot of the things done, including password changes. Viv and I lost money by signing over our ownership to their church, but, God will repay us, I'm sure. I know that I won't be helping them set the site up, though they asked me to. I wanted a total break from them, and yesterday should have done it. I even wrote in the email (also sending a paper copy via snail mail) that I no longer was responsible for the handling of the website or any other portion of what happens at Midland. I did it in a Christian manner...yet, I still feel somehow I will be attacked in one form or another. But, God will take care of all of that.

Last night's Bible study was great! We got into the Doctrine of the Trinity. It was great to see people so interested in the word of God that they WANTED to go beyond 7:30pm to continue studying. We start at 6:30pm and usually go an hour. We weren't done until after 8pm last night! I love seeing people HUNGRY for the Word of God.

I could sure use a Dr. Pepper right now! Sue, do we still have any available? ;) I couldn't find it...I did see some Diet Coke, though!

God continue to bless and keep each of you today.
Be good, Be kind, Be careful.
