Hi everyone!
I have been very busy getting ready for winter. So, I just pop in now and then, and off I go.
When I first came from England, the kiddies knocked on doors and shouted: "Shell out! Shell out! Or I'll smash your windows inside out!" I don't know where that came from, but soon changed to the American version of "Trick or treat."
We live in the country one quarter mile off the road through 25 acres of woods. Not many kiddies would dare venture this lane, including our own when they were young. I decided a few years back to treat the local merchants with a little bag of treats. That grew to 87 little bags! That can get a little expensive, but then, these folk serve us all year, and they spend a great deal passing our treats to all the kiddies. I just thought it would be a decent twist on the night.
Tony, Imagine a preacher who couldn't preach and a teacher who couldn't teach, and you will know how I felt some years ago when I suffered my first strokes. I know exactly how you feel. I really wanted to die and get it over with. I finally resolved the issue, knowing that God would give me a ministry amongst the ill and handicapped, and this gave me new hope, and lo, things did get better. There is always hope, but when we lose this hope, we do nothing but fail. Keep looking up and out. The Lord will enable us beyond our own hopes and imagination. Cheer up, and God bless, mate.
Cheers to all,
Jim
