COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #87

Thankful

<img src=/BettyE.gif>
Good afternoon! Wonderful Lord's Day. We had five people join our church this morning.

This morning was Lord's Supper Sunday and tonight will be fifth Sunday Sing. We are having a visiting group so I can sit back and enjoy.

We are ready for Fall Festival tomorrow night.

I'm still checking clocks to see if we have set them to the correct time. Why do we have so many clocks?

Hey folks,

I am going to take a hiatus from the BB for a while. Nothing is wrong and I am not upset with anyone.

I'll join you-all here again on the fellowship forum maybe after Christmas.

Take care and see you later.

Peace and love you-
Scarlett O. (Kim)

You will be missed Kim. Please hurry back to us and have a great holiday season!

I have done nothing today. I got about 3 hours sleep last night (breathing problems) so I stayed home this morning and camped out on the couch for a nap. I'm still coughing really bad, but the breathing seems to some better.

I'm going to bed early and try to get some decent sleep.

Pleasant dreams all!

Good morning everyone,

I'm running a little late this morning. Was trying to get some things in order. I started taking the antibiotic yesterday for the bacterial infection in my lungs and sinus'. Does anyone know anything about "AVELOX"? I found SOME information, but it really wasn't very helpful. It sort of talked in circles. I did print out five pages of stuff on it from WebMD so Vivian could read it. I'm allergic to so many meds, especially antibiotics and anesthesia. I mean, don't get me wrong. I don't feel terrible, and I don't mean to come here and "complain". I just get to the point where I'm really sick and tired of being "sick and tired". I know others here feel the same way.

Today is Pain Management Clinic day for me. Viv's having to leave work at 11am to get me there by 1pm. Tomorrow she's off at 11am again to take me to get my hearing aids adjusted, and then to the otolaryngologist's office for hearing tests and the 6 mo maintenance testing.

I'm glad my Mom is coming this Friday. I'm hoping that has a good time, but most of the time she spends cleaning (nervous habit of hers). That would help at any rate.

It's a bit warmer here today at 45. We are glad about that. It's supposed to reach 75 today!

Our church is having a "Trunk-Or-Treat" tonight and we will be having tracts with the info on the church and salvation WITH the candy. It's a good in-road to the parents!

Well, ya'll, if I'm not on here the next few days, you'll know why. Have a great day!

Good morning all:

It is in the 40's right now, with rain and a high of 60º expected today.

I wonder if the rain and cool weather will keep the kids from trick or treating? They are only allowed two hours in our city and may only go to the houses with porch lights on.

We leave our porch light OFF because we have no kids in our neighborhood and I'm not handing out candy to kids that live across town...

Brent doesn't go out for Halloween. We go to the candy store where they have the candy in large glass containers (think old-fashioned mercantile shop) and get his 'treats'.

Time to wake up Brent and fix breakfast.

Have a good day y'all!

Good Morning!

It is 54 degrees and raining. Supposed to get colder and very windy this afternoon.

We will leave our porch light off, too. There are a lot of little kids in the neighborhood, but last year we decided to let the younger families have all the fun.

The first year we were here, we handed out candy until we saw that the children were being brought in by the car loads.

Tonight will drive Muffin crazy. I may need to put him in his crate with an extra dose of benedryl to keep him calm. He is so protective and thinks he should warn us about "everything" which most of the time is good. He barks only when something is wrong.

I think we have critters in the house again. He was really checking things out and slept on guard in the bathroom last night.

He pulled all his toys out of his toy box so I am going to clean the sunroom today and check for mice.

We went to church last night eager to hear special music. It was special all right. So loud that Ed made a very quick decision about after two measures "Let's Go". I want to keep my hearing a little bit longer. We knew something was up when they suggested we use ear plugs. (None were provided)

Who wants to have to wear ear plugs to listen to music?

That is my "whine" for the day. Oh, maybe I'll have another one or two.

Have a great day, everyone.

I'm trying to talk to my granddaughter by IM. Hope I don't get the two mixed up.

Where is everyone, today?

I'm resting from cleaning the sunroom.

The wind is very strong today. Wind makes me and my dog nervous. He barks at the falling leaves

Hope everyone is ok!

Hello!

Dealing with a major transit strike here in Philly. Nothing running but a few commuter rail lines into downtown. All other city bus, el, and subway lines not running.

Lots of folks not able to get to work or school. Pray they reach an agreement soon!

But, the Lord gave us a beautiful day to handle it in! At least the weather won't be frazzling any nerves!

Fantastic service yesterday. We had a Palestinian Muslim give his life to Christ! He had been studying the gospel with a young man in our church who is also a former Muslim. Both of these young men face families who are not pleased at their decisions. But we that God for them!

Happy Halloween! (or Fall Festival, if you like!) We expect about 300 kids to come through our church tonight for games and prizes and food, a Gospel message and a salsa band! What a mix!

Happy Fall!

Hi everyone!

I have been very busy getting ready for winter. So, I just pop in now and then, and off I go.

When I first came from England, the kiddies knocked on doors and shouted: "Shell out! Shell out! Or I'll smash your windows inside out!" I don't know where that came from, but soon changed to the American version of "Trick or treat."

We live in the country one quarter mile off the road through 25 acres of woods. Not many kiddies would dare venture this lane, including our own when they were young. I decided a few years back to treat the local merchants with a little bag of treats. That grew to 87 little bags! That can get a little expensive, but then, these folk serve us all year, and they spend a great deal passing our treats to all the kiddies. I just thought it would be a decent twist on the night.

Tony, Imagine a preacher who couldn't preach and a teacher who couldn't teach, and you will know how I felt some years ago when I suffered my first strokes. I know exactly how you feel. I really wanted to die and get it over with. I finally resolved the issue, knowing that God would give me a ministry amongst the ill and handicapped, and this gave me new hope, and lo, things did get better. There is always hope, but when we lose this hope, we do nothing but fail. Keep looking up and out. The Lord will enable us beyond our own hopes and imagination. Cheer up, and God bless, mate.

Cheers to all,

Jim

Good morning all:

It is a brisk 37º this morning heading for a high of 61º after a rainy day yesterday and most of the night.

Time to put up the Thanksgiving decorations!

Brent and I are baking 8 dozen "Oatmeal Scotchie" cookies today (made with butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips), so if anyone wants any let me know and I will try to fax you some. :D

Have a great day!

Happy November 1, everyone.

BlackBird, you are sure up early.

Sue, I want cookies!

My "Halloween" Decorations are my fall decorations so I am ready for Thanksgiving

We don't have any plans for the Big Day, yet, but knowing our families whatever we plan will be changed at least 5 times. So we are not going to plan. We will have enough food in the house to feed anyone who decides to visit.

Did everyone survive October 31? Muffin wasn't as upset as I thought he would be, but he did have to protect his yard.

It was really irritating to see car loads of children, many of them teenagers, dropped off at the end of the streets to go house to house. We have that porch light rule here so we left our lights off.

We didn't participate in the Fall Festival this year. Ed has to take off work to get there on time and he has had so many funerals to attend recently that he couldn't take off.

Have a great day. It is beautiful here, sun shining, and 54 degrees. There's the doorbell,

See you all later.

Thankful, cookies are done and delicious (and fattening). They should be in your email box now. :D

Brent finished his goals early today so we are on our way to the Post Office to pay bills, then a quick trip to Wal-Mart (is there any such thing?) and Russell Stover, then a stop at Aldi's and back home.

CYAL,

Guess wot? It is raining again! Dry all summer, so much that the river dried up to a trickle, and now rain, rain, rain. Guess that put an end to my electrical work....Maybe it will quit over lunchtime...then there is muck! Wot a life!

Cheers,

Jim
