Welcome back Gayla! 12:30 in the morning!?! Icky!

Bear, you are a good man. If you were on a commercial, We'd be hearing, "Give that man a Klondike bar!" :D

Gayla: You can read Coffee House #98 in "Free For All" Archives.

Evening all,

It may be too early for bed, but I'm going anyway! The A/C is on in the bedroom and it is hot and sticky out here! It has been pouring down rain and the air is T H I C K...

We have six leaks on the sunporch roof. Yes, it's the one we put a new roof on last fall... I guess we should have paid professionals do it, but it's too late now...money is all gone. I guess we'll put up with the leaks. We've tried everything we can think of. The leaks must be coming from someplace else and running down to the porch roof.

Pleasant dreams!

It's just too hot to stay up...

I Am Blessed 16,

You have probably been asked this before, but have you ever thought about making this Thread it's own Forum?

Evening Gang,
been a lazy evening for me, but I get to make up for it tomorrow. Take Agee to work at 5:30 so I guess i can clean up the messy side of the building fore the sun get's up good. Make more room for recycleble stuff. If I can come up with enough lumber I want to make a simple lean-to extension on that side. We have plenty of shade back there but then I could work in the rain too.
Figured I'd put that fax machine to work too & just fax all the apts. in G'boro & mabey Highpoint & areas to see if I can pick up any more A/C's. Once I figure out how to properly use the thing that is. I downloaded an owners manual & it's oodling of pages! I've learned to be handy with electronic stuff but this confuses even me!
Have to go to sign my contract for my route, mow the yard (at least the front), & Daddy wants his boat back so I guess I'll try to do that too. Should sorta keep me busy!! Plus I'm sure my Honey will think of some things, like tearin into the electrical panel & adding a breaker or two for the A/C's. Just hope it ain't a shocking experince!!
Welp, turnin BH loose & I shall return!

Boy, this place has been jumpin'!

Sue: That is great news! No surgery, whoo hoo!!!!

MK: When you're finished with your bathroom, I have one I've been wanting to get to for two years. Haven't touched it yet. Ya wanna help?

preacher: Glad BH is feeling better.

Some of y'all may remember about a month ago when I was wanting to drive over into Alabama to get some corn meal. Well, we stopped on the way home yesterday, and I got some. Next time we go to OKlahoma, I'll have to go through there and get some for the folks.

Gayla,
BH says thanks! I think I narrowed it down to too much fruit, thus too much sugar. That reminds me I need to get her some bark, yeah,....they eat it! She seems to like oak the best! Likes willow too, includin the leaves. Been tryin to find a smaller chunk of hollow wood for her to use as a house, but no luk yet.
We had a cable that we hook Sam to for her to be out,...leash laws here, & she broke it yesterday. Told Agee guess it's time to move up to a loggin' chain!

Good morning all,

Bear: The CGCH has nestled in the same spot for over three years. We like the location.

It is another cloudy, rainy, hot, humid day. It isn't raining right now though and I'm hoping it holds off for a bit. I'd like to run up to the Farmer's Market this morning. It's only open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and I keep forgetting to go...

Other than that, it's laundry and some 'swiffering' for me, then church tonight. Of course, there's cooking in between and I'm sure I'll find some other things to do...

Coffee is hot and tea is brewing,

Morning sweet friends!

Slept like a dead weight last night -- except for dreams. One of the migraine meds I'm on -- I dream the most vivid dreams every night. I've been on it a year now and I don't remember having a dreamless night. (can you tell I'm ready for one!)

Today, I've got to finish the closets. I've got stuff sitting in piles everywhere, but I think it's all ready to go in some closet somewhere. Blythe's mama might come tonight to spend the night and I've got to make sure there is a bed clear for her

Gayla, I love cornmeal. Where did you get yours? Sometimes Ron is in Alabama.

MK, are you up yet? It's 8 here girl :p

Sue, coffee is good. Great way to start the day -- Coffee and fellowship.

I'm up! I'm up!

But I'm grumbling a bit. My body is trying to rebel today. I overworked one of my arthritic knees yesterday by doing two karate classes in one day. I should have stopped when I first felt it, but no, I was to stubborn and only had a few reps left so I kept on. Came home limping. It's better this morning, but now I'm having elbow trouble. I'm sure this has to do with karate too, since there was a lot of impact last night. I'm just a bit aggravated about it, cause I have actual energy this morning, but my body doesn't believe me.

Gayla! Welcome back! You have not put up with your bathroom quite long enough yet. I've stared at that ugly wallpaper for SIX years! Been saying since we moved in this house that that wallpaper had to go. So you have four more years to go and then I'll come over and help you out. :D

Sue, I agree the coffe is good this morning. I'm on my second cup and may just finish off the pot if no one else gets in here before I have the chance!

Off to take some advil!

One of the crummy things about getting older -- our bodies rebel. They rebel if we do too much, they rebel if we sit too much. Just can't keep 'um happy *sigh*

I had a pleasant surprised this morning. I'd put in a load of wash yesterday afternoon and was waiting until this morning to dry it. I cannot hear the dryer if I'm in another part of the house and had planned some work near the washroom. Well! the clothes were not only dried, but folded and on hangers. soooooo either I've got the shoemakers elves or Ron took it upon himself. Either way, I'm very happy :praise:

Hey send those elves this way! I've stacks of laundry to be washed and folded!

I forgot to tell you folks the excitement of yesterday! I was sitting, stuffing my face when I heard Hammer barking and a car drive up. I thought it might be UPS delivering some parts so I leave my snack and go to the door. It's not the parts, instead it's my neighbor from up on the corner telling me to come check out this SNAKE that was crossing the street from her house to my next door neighbors house! So I head up to where she saw it to take a look. Rattlers aren't uncommon around here, even though we are technically in the city. That snake was at least 4 feet long! While I was taking a look at it to see just what kind of snake it was, it was eyeballing us right back. Now you have to get the whole picture here. Two women, 5 kids and a dog all staring at this snake! Well, the dog wan't staring at the snake. The dog was trying to figure out why 7 people weren't paying him any attention! The snake decides we all aren't worth his bother and takes off across my next door neighbors yard just about the same time the dog decides he's not getting any thing out of this experience and does the same thing.

Well now, you would think that a big mutt that loves to chase cats and squirells would be some protection againt a snake, right? Nope! Dog walks right past the snake, not a foot away from, and pays it absolutely no attention! Snake stops his progress across the yard and lets the dog pass before continuing on across the yard, TOWARD MY HOUSE!

Thankfully, that is as scarey as the situation got, for once the snake got onto my neighbors driveway and out of the grass, I could tell it was just a rat snake. Rat snakes are allowed to live, at least until my neighbors husband gets home and hunts it out from under the bushes where it was last seen!

Yep, Agee called me at work one day to tell me she had took Sam out (this was when she still stayed inside) & she thought a snake they walked up on had bit Sam.(Sam won't walk by nothin without tryin to smell it!) I asked her what kind, she didn't know...thats my country gal! I askede what color it was & from her description it sounded like a black,or a racer. I told her to see if there was a wound & if so just clean it good & don't worry. Then i asked about the snake, if it was ok....wrong thing to do!!! She hadn't hurt it but had a time talkin her out of it!!
As for laundry, when I fold & hang Sam always did her part, she would even take socks & put them in the dresser, & bring me towels to the bathroom...course they didn't always make it still folded, but hey...she tried!!

The best plans of mice and men.................it rained, no poured down, all morning and is still spitting...Now that isn't polite, is it?

I worked in shop building more shelves to better organize it. Even if I don't work, I like everything organized...makes it easier when people come to borrow tools.

When we first decided to move to country, we found 168 acres up north at a really good price. We decided to buy it,,,then wife saw one little snake,,,a rattler........that settled,,we moved East and paid twice the price for 100 acres.....

Cheers,

Jim

I know we pick on our wives a lot around here.....but sometimes it's so EASY!!!
Actually Agee doesn't have much problems with snakes, she see's one she will try her best to kill it. They're only safe if I'm around.
Now bugs....oooh boy! Every time she happens to see some kind in the house she thinks it's a roach,(unless it does happen to be a spider, whole nother' story) & wants me to pull out the artillery!! I've tried to tell her roaches only set up houekeeping if ya live nasty, & she's got the cleanest house in the county....if not the state! Sometimes it works.....sometimes I have to go to the closet to get out the M-16!!!

Hey, I've got a spider story too!

I worked in a daycare when T and I were first married. By the end I was the kitchen manager (think cook) and part of my job was to the kitchen laundry about once a week, cause we had so little that it wasn't worth the church investing in a washer.

What the church had though was German cockroaches and I learned real fast that if I didn't want roaches in my house not to bring in the daycare laundry until I was ready to wash it. So one day while we were in the process of moving into a different house I came in really late one Friday night. The porch was full of boxes waiting to be unpacked, so I set the basket of laundry on the front grass until I could wash it the next morning.

Get up the next day an go out to get that basket and notice a little spider web leading from the ground up to basket. Since there were tons of brown ground spiders around and I'm not real scared of them, I swiped off that web and headed for the washer. Got back there and plopped that basket down and this jumped out:

trapdoor-spider_6073.jpg.w300h211.jpg

I was less than thrilled, but evidently I scared it as much as it scared me cause it sat there long enough that I was able to find something LARGE to kill it with. This pic doesn't show it size really well, but the one I kill had a body that was as big as a half dollar and then it had legs.

Killing it was empowering though. I can now kill any spider around without even a shudder, cause if I could kill that thing, anything smaller is just child's play.

We have these coexisting with us in this house:

Hairwolf the cat, hunts these guys down and uses them for snack food.

Well, the first pic I don't see....the second we have too, think they're mandatory for all homes. I just use the ole Dirt-Devil on'em! Gets them & their webs at the same time!! But they just keep comin back....ain't figured that part out yet. Course....I don't do the attic, that could be a clue I guess.
Oh....BH will eat them too!!

Heh heh,
Agee walked in right as I brought the spider picture up!! She DID not care for it. Course I haven't seen any really big spiders in years, but size of the spider don't matter to her, she wants them all dead! Even outside ones. I tols her they help kill other bugs....." I don't care, let'em all starve to death!!" Pleasant woman my wife is sometimes!!
Me, the only bug I cannot get along with is a tick, & yellowjackets. Get ticks on me bout every time I go bank fishing, & I'm allergic to jackets.

Your wife is right! Of all the things God created it's spiders that bother me the most. Rather have a snake around than a spider. I do let the banana spiders and the ugly brown ones that make huge beautiful webs live. Those are my natural Halloween decorations. The rest get sprayed or squashed depending on my mood and where they are located.

Jim, I certainly wish I had you here to build me a set of shelves. I need some rather nice ones for an odd corner in the upstairs hall so the kids will have a place to display their awards and art work. Then I need more out in the garage and different ones for over the washer and dryer and another set around the the ceiling in Bitsy's room so she can display her American Girl dolls. I could keep you quite busy around here! ;)

Well, all the glue is finally off the walls in the bathroom. Tomorrow I'll start stripping the trim and the doors. It's nice to finally see some progress in there!
