Good morning all,

The Server Busy got me this morning already! Grrrrrrr. I didn't think that many people posted on here this early in the morning. I wonder if it could be because Andrew owns another board with this format and the two combined go into 'overload'...

We had another heavy thunderstorm today and the humidity is unbearable. It is to be in the 90's the next 6/7 days with high humidity so I guess the central A/C stays on. With the price of electricity going up as fast as gasoline, I hate to run it, but don't have much choice with COPD.

Brent has his yearly appointment for an eye exam this morning. He needs new frames whether he needs a new prescription or not. The paint is chipping off his old frames and I guess, at his age, a year is about average for frames to last.

Coffee is on and tea is brewing.

HAGD!

If it is any consolation, Sue, humidity is so high here I went outdoors for two minutes and took a bar of soap.....might as well lather up and call it a steam bath.......... Just think, one would pay fifty dollars for that at a spa.

I am having some difficulty with system too. Not the busy thing, but posts are taking forever, and some posts have not registered at all....I couldn't be troubled to write them again. Then, when I am reading a first post, it jumps down to another post after half reading it.

Cheers, and good morning,

Jim

Jim: Last night, Brent had just finished taking his shower and it started to pour down rain. I told him he should have waited 5 minutes and taken his bar of soap outside!

My dad (born in 1900) used to sing this little ditty all the time when I was young.

Oh, it ain't gonna rain no more, no more.
It ain't gonna rain no more.
How in the heck am I gonna wash my neck,
If it ain't gonna rain no more!

jumps down to another post after half reading it.

This happens to me everytime I start reading. I have learned to let the page set for a few seconds and do it's 'jumping' before I start reading... :saint:

We're off to Brent's eye appointment.

CYAL!

Good Morning Everyone!

Where's Bitsy this morning? She's supposed to be up before me! :D

Sue, it is incredibly hot here too. The weather man on CNN said that most of the country is supposed to be in the 90's. I have to be out in it today, but hopefully not for very long at a time.

My computer's been doing the jumping thing here lately too. I just thought it was something my setup was doing. I share a keyboard, mouse and moniter with T's computer in order to save space and I've had that problem when switching back and forth between them. Usually though it backs up an entire page and not just a few posts. Still, I thought the post jumps here were part of the same fluke. Nice to my switcher isn' any worse off than usual!

Back to stripping trim today. Gonna have to close off my room and the bathroom somehow so the fumes don't make the kids sick. Cassie has been down all week already. She's going to the doc on Monday if she's not better. I'd take her today, but I'm carless. If I'm lucky, I'll get T's truck back some time today. It'll probably be to late to get in with the doc though.

Gotta go get on with the day. See ya'll!

Hi Gang,
Sure is strange not having Bitsy here first thing in the morning.
It is almost 90 here already, and we're heading for the high 90's today with heat indexes near 100, and in the 90's for the next week. Oh well, this is the weather we wanted back in January (at least in michigan).
Been to the doctor's this morning, now trying to adjust to the heat. I could use my electric meter for a fan.
We have our annual balloon festival this weekend in town. Been thinking of going there for awhile tomorrow. Unfortunately there is no shade available(it's at the airport).
Time to go out and watch my grandkids play in the pool. It's a dirty job-but somebody has to do it, and it just happens to be a Papa's privliege.

I'm here! I had a migraine and company and then a meeting at 9:30. I'm back from my meeting and seriously considering crawling back into the bed.

I had my coffee all alone! It just wasn't as good without you guys.

I tell yuns what...this site is actin plumb goofy this morning. I clik on a link & I get that page that says "server not found", or it's taking 2 or 3 minutes to load up a page. It's not doing this on other web sites & my puter is actually runnin healthy.
Jim I agree with some of yur earlier statements, It's getting tiresome!
If this posts I'm on my way to pick up a table, guess I'll put it on our back porch/deck.
Back sometime later...if things are working properly!!

You have Migranes too, Bitsy? It's truly a "sensory experience" I can do without. Thank God for meds, and a quiet, dark, room.

I'm with FoG, take your meds if you use them and go find a dark place to be and sleep it off. I don't know what it is with migraines this summer but the kids are having one at least once a week. Thought Chris was going to have to get a shot for the one he had this week. Cass has had one all week as well, just enough to keep her feeling bad but not enough to get a shot. The migraine isn't bad until the kids are willing to go get that shot.

Off to check the door I'm stripping. The Formby's is working much much better!

Good morning, evening, afternoon, depending where you are!

I'm over here having fun with phone calls. I need to replace the windshield on the car, so I'm calling different places. The prices are being quoted lower with each call.

Ticks me off that there's such a difference though. They have to use the same glass don't they? If one place is gonna charge that much of a difference, they're either cheating you or have bad buying skills, neither of which is an appealing thought.

Or is there really a difference and I just don't know?

I don't think there there should be a difference, safety glass is safety glass, but then (& I know this will dissapoint ya) I don't know everything, accordin to Agee anyways!!
I'm flustered too, been trying to find a general price for PVC pipe, & all the places I look tell me it can't be purchased over the net, that ya have to go to a local retailer or such. Duh!, they could still post prices & still tell ya that!!
Oh, & Thanks to you Jim...after seein pics of your building in the Tea Room I know a cheaper way to add a lean-to on my building!!

Oh GEENER I forgot to ask......what didcha' hit??? ;)

Preacher: I am sure you have those portable garages in the USA. The complete shelter only costs $250.00.
We have the complete one for Mary's motorcar, and my shop was made from one that blew down up the road from me. I had to straighten pipe and buy a large tarp to cover the top.

Gina,,those shops seem to have several prices; direct purchase and insurance-paid windscreens......and there can be a huge difference on how they are installed. Here, the installers come out and installs windscreen either at your local mechanice's shop or even at your home. The cost is about $300. Cdn.

Cheers,

Jim

That must have been one big bug you ran into Gina! ;) Here I call the insurance co and they call whoever (I guess I could choose from their list) and then whoever comes out and fixes it where ever the car happens to be. Depending on the company, I pay $50 as a co-pay kinda thing and that's the end of it.

It is almost 98 degrees at my house right now. Thank goodness I got those doors stripped before it got this hot. I have some work to do inside but I just got a call from my hubby and he's coming to pick me up to go get a few things from the store.

Good afternoon,

I've been having a lazy day every day this week. And y'all are all so busy. I think it's time to get started on something, just can't decide where to start. There are plenty of projects that's for sure.

Yep, I was actually gonna mow grass, needs it bad now in the front, & my wittle wife wouldn't let me, said it's too hot!! Sometimes she's so sweet.
Jim, the only carports I see around these parts are the all metal frame with tin roofing. One about the size of yours would run $500. I know I can buy the pipe & fittings, & use canvas or tarp for the roof. I just want a roof to be out of rain & such, mabey make it to where I can roll down more if the weathers really bad & Im trying to do something under it. I have a building already, just let Sam use it as a Dog house, & about a 3rd of it for storage.

Whew! It got up to 102 after I posted last. I like summer but that's a little to much summer!

Ended up getting both doors stripped and one of them sanded and ready to paint. Not to bad considering how hot it was out there today. I'll get up early and sand the other one. Ran out of daylight waiting on it to cool down enough for me to go back out.

Gayla, you chosen a project yet? My advice is to put them all on little sheets of paper and let your husband choose one out of a hat. Now quit procrastinating! (says the woman who took six years to start getting rid of wallpaper she absolutedly hated. :D )

Okay, I know I'm getting old, but spelling didn't used to be a chore. So why is it I constantly have to go back and proofread only to find that I've spelled chosen without the n and advice with a s where c is? I know, it's all the paint fumes! That sounds like a good story, I think I'll stick with it.

I think it is all in the fingers. Those disobedient and wayward fingers. They have a mind all their own, and just push where they will. I have the same problem..only they keep adding letters.

Cheers,

Jim

The cheapest guy was also the one who came out and did it at the house in 30 minutes. (but we ended up talking for about 45 minutes, he had his mom with him and we got to gabbin'...)

Total was $275, and that included moldings, labor, everything.

I didn't hit anything! I was going down the road last year and a semi came by and a rock flew up and got the windshield in the lower middle. Just nicked it, but later it turned into a long crack.

It was so low down that it didn't obstruct my view, but then I found out it was illegal to drive a car with a cracked windshield. Plus it was spreading and almost to the ends, and threatening to start cracking in other directions at the place where it was nicked.

Today was kinda fun, but painful. I put in a...thingie in the back yard. It's tiny rocks and big rocks, they have a sort of pattern. Tomorrow I will outline it with plain brick or something, will have to look and see what's there, and I'll put just a few different looking plants in there for dramatic effect.
