Yes, Mary is the mother of the Word, the Mother of God, the mother of Jesus. Jesus is the Word. Jesus is not just the clothes that the Word wears. Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is God in the flesh (NOT God wearing flesh). She is NOT the source of God, but rather the mother of God (the Word made flesh) in that Jesus (the Word made flesh) was conceived in her, grew in her womb, was birthed by her, and was raised by her.Originally posted by Eliyahu:
the main difference appears in this:
You say and believe that Word became Flesh:
Mary is the Mother.
Then does it mean that Mary was the mother of Word? or what did she or her body did?
You never answered it.
His Words interpreted by whom, you?Originally posted by Eliyahu:
[QB] Whether one is Orthodox is or not can be judged by God and His Words.
Your view indeed. In my view, Majority
condemned Nestorius but Nestorius was the real Orthodox and those guys who condemned him were heretic!
Ah...historical revisionism rears its ugly head once again...The most of the Orthodox persecuted true Christians throughout the ages, and they are cult and heretic!
Really? So who has been revealed in this debate as not belonging to Him?Originally posted by Eliyahu:
One good thing with this type of debate is that it reveals who is who, who belongs to Him.
Being a mother does not mean I created the child -- God is the Creator. Calling Mary the mother of the God-man is simple fact - she was his mother. It does not mean she was the cause of his existence or that she was his creator.Originally posted by Bunyon:
"Mary was no more an incubator that I was for my son or any other mother who bears and gives birth are for their children. She was the mother of Jesus. Jesus was totally 100% man as well as being totally 100% God. To try to "downsize" Mary's role as his mother attacks the humanity of Christ."-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But were you the mother of their soul and spirit?
Trying to unduly elevate Mary is feminism in my opinion.
Are you saying that Jesus was a divine spirit who was merely covered with flesh (enfleshed)?Originally posted by Eliyahu:
My understanding is that Holy Spirit worked in sending Pre-Incarnate Jesus with enfleshed into the womb of Mary, in the minimal size and in the human embryo form, either by attaching any dust or not. In such case the contribution by Mary was nil, but what she did was to nurture Him in her womb and served for the Creator.
