Tesla announced plans to switch to LFP battery cells for its standard battery packs in October 2021, and both companies are following in the footsteps of Chinese electric vehicle and battery manufacturers. The technology has been generally promoted in China, and as battery researchers Roskill have noted, around 95% of LFP cathode manufacturing is based in China. Eliminating cobalt means reducing reliance on suppliers where forced labor is still a concern. Cobalt extraction is still largely concentrated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it is linked to human rights abuses and child labor. [from the internet]

Fine. Here is my answer - No, I am not aware of any evidence that the fossil fuel industry has hindered the development of LFP batteries.

Why did China heavily invest in developing LFP batteries but our Department of Energy offered lip service?

Why would you want the government involved in it? I am for a whole lot less government, especially the federal government. How about you?

@Van you seem to have skipped over answering my question:

How long before retired folks, like me, will be able to pay around $25,000 or so for one of these fancy LFP cars and will it have a range over 400 miles and that can be filled up in 5 minutes like I can with my 2021 Nissan Sentra?

MY EV, a hybrid, has almost a 500 mile range. A Volt or 2023 Prius Prime can meet daily average driving needs without using any gasoline.

BEV's can meet about town needs and plug in Hybrids can meet long range driving needs today. But neither has home grown LFP batteries, which will in the future enhance safety and lower cost.

@Van I think you are refusing to answer my question, even with an "I don't know", because you know that answering it would destroy your advocacy for electric vehicles, knowing that the American people can't afford them, and other than rich people, the only ones that can even attempt to do so currently have to be heavily subsidized by the American taxpayers.

A hybrid uses fossil fuels. Sounds like you are virtue signaling, Van.

Sound like your thoughts are at cross purposes with themselves.
No, not at a cross purpose at all.

I believe we should have a small federal government. The smaller the better. That does not mean no government.

I still believe a laissez faire capitalistic system will ultimately fail. That is not at a cross purpose.

The government is very involved in a laissez faire capitalistic system. It is involved in preserving that system.

The difference here is I believe we should have a small federal government BUT that that limited government still has a responsibility and duty to its citizens.

On the three powers - the police, the military, the courts - yes. But that should be it, especially on the federal level.

4} Can most people afford one? NOPE
5} Can you recharge them while you grab a coffee and a donut? NOPE
6} Would I want one in an emergency situation eg escaping a forest fire? NOPE
7} Are they over hyped? YOU BET
Turns out that in the hurricane, folks are finding out that they burn up when drenched with salt water, which provides a path for the electricity in the battery.
