Apparently the more educated one is the more likely he is to be an atheist or liberal.

Or the church is being outdone by the godless.

That ought to be to our shame but some people here are arguing vociferously for Christians not even TRYING to do better.

It's sad.

Or, as I have heard before,
"He is educated beyond his intelligence."

I must admit that this does fit a lot of liberals that have been in the news lately.

As to atheists, well -------- you know what God calls those who don't believe in His existence?!?!?!:tongue3:

No. We are talking about people who don't even graduate high school too.
Facts are stubborn things.

Atheists are doing a better job raising their kids than Christians.

It's a crying shame!

Hey Luke, maybe you should quit using that voice recognition program, it's spelling non-existent words like "siting".

I am surprised, I would have thought it would have written "sighting".

Maybe you should write Bill Gates and tell him to correct that program. Tell him it embarrassed you and made you appear illiterate.

Maybe you should write Bill Gates and tell him...........

Well, since you brought up Bill Gates, I'd just like to remind everyone that he - along with scores of other highly successful people in life - has no college degree.

And there are scores of college educated people who are not successful.

Speaking as someone with a string of letters behind her name and in pursuit of more, it isn't the sheepskin that makes one intelligent, successful, or "educated". It's the effort, hard work, and pursuit of personal excellence in one's chosen field that is the hallmark of a successful person.

That may or may NOT require a sheepskin.

To say that an evangelical Christian with no college degree is ignorant and an atheist with a degree is "educated" and that this is a pattern of ALL Christians without degrees and atheists with degrees is invalid. One is forcing the intellect of a person and his/her spiritual status to be dependent on one another.

I'm highly educated and it isn't because of diplomas. And .... those diplomas don't mean a whole lot to me. Nor do anybody else's diplomas. What means something to me - concerning myself and others - is how hard we worked for that diploma, what did we learn while in college, and how does what I learned assist me in making my corner of the world better. That's what makes me educated.

As I said earlier - there are scores of people WITH college degrees who contribute nothing of value to society in terms of the diploma. Their contributions come from other areas of their lives. They did NOTHING with the college degree. It was a waste of four years.

And there are scores of people with NO college degree who have helped change the world.

I resent the Christianity of my family and extended family (who have no college degrees) being associated with being "uneducated".

My father has no degree. He taught himself to program computers in the early 1980's and transformed the post offices of two cities because of it. He has written three books and he can converse with anybody on any topic.

He is not "uneducated".

Or is it the more arrogant they are the more likely they are to be either/or?

In the past pastors, theologians, professors were highly educated and respected, but lo and behold, easy-believism, freewillism and being proudly ignorant have supplanted all of that.

It is no wonder that liberals and atheists deride believers with 'pie in the sky' theology. Why do they do this? Because the majority of 'believers' preach a false gospel laden in ignorance ('Say this prayer, agree to these facts & you're going to heaven'!)

Today faith = being an ignoramus and sadly too many in churches help facilitate such a notion.

Yeah .... I kind of thought that's what this thread was all about.

But you know something? I thought those atheists were nonbelievers because they were predestined to go hell ....

...not because I am not reformed and ergo, I'm automatically an ignoramus.

That is what you said, is it not? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Yep, Calvinists constantly contradict themselves. If God irresistibly regenerates a person, it doesn't matter what the preaching was like, it doesn't matter if the person is asked to pray a simple prayer. If God regenerates them, they will be saved.

And if God chooses to pass them by, you can preach on sin and hell all day long, you can preach on commitment and genuine faith, and those people are going to walk out the door lost.

Calvinists do not seem to believe their own doctrine.

Or the church is being outdone by the godless.

The church cannot be outdone. The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I am pro education. It is a great thing to propel a person into success. But it has nothing to do with spirituality or righteousness. Someone can be as dumb as a rock and be a gem in God's eyes.

Gods word has nothing kind to say about people who claim his name and do not educate their children as well as the godless hoards.

Being dumb is ok if that's all you can be. Being dumb is a wicked sin if you could do better.

Most uneducated Christians are just too sorry and lazy to do better. Atheists are not as sorry and lazy as most Christians.

It's sad.

But the vitriol spewed at me on this thread for excoriating the sorriness of Christians in this culture is THE VERY REASON CHRISTIANS IN THIS CULTURE ARE SO SORRY.

It is also interesting how talk to text came up with 'more farther.'

I think new software is needed. That package is nearly as ignorant as we are.

It wouldn't be an issue if the post had not been designed to prove the ignorance of others. When one begins to throw stones he had better double check the glass in his own house.

Cannot see this as a "theological" discussion in any stretch. We HAVE a forum for talking about "Fundamentalism"

With highest regards and respect for my friend and fellow administrator the Fundamentalist forum, according to its descriptor, is a forum 'for' fundamentalists, not 'about' fundamentalism.

Moving this to the 'General Baptist' forum.

The more "fundamentalist" the less educated.

Independent Baptists and tongue talkers are the least educated people in America according to this pew poll.
http://religions.pewforum.org/pdf/ta...nomination.pdf

Look at those with a college degree among American denominations. The liberal Episcopal Church has the highest percentage at 30%. Second to that is the mainline Anglican Church. Then PCUSA at 23%, United Church of Christ, United Methodist at 21% and PCA is tied with Evangelical Lutheran and Nondenominational fundamentalist churches at 19%. Southern Baptists are at 14%. Independent Baptists are at 11%. The lowest is Church of God in Cleveland at 4% followed by Black Independent Baptists at 5% then at 8% are the Assemblies of God.

Except for the Presbyterian Church of America there is no other evangelical denomination that has close to 20% of its members with a college degree.

In another pew poll it appears that atheists blow church members out of the water when it comes to education.
http://www.pewforum.org/2012/10/09/n...-demographics/

Other than black Protestant and Hispanic Catholic, White Evangelical is the poorest educated of all the groups in the study. Can you guess who the best educated is? Atheists.

Also, church members are far more likely to get divorced than atheists.

Surely evangelicals have profaned the name of God among the heathen in this country.
The Harvard Grad usurping the Oval Office is doing a bang up job.

Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

The end of the saint with mistaken notions who fails at good endeavors is better than the wise and able heathen.

You talk like a Calvinist, but you smell like an Arminian.
